This scene really exemplifies the soul this movie has. All different people with different personalities reacting differently to an adventure they're taking together.
It’s kind of what I call a “misfit movie,” where the main characters are a ragtag bunch of misfits who are up against a more established, well-funded and well-connected group of people (in the context of this movie, Jonas and his team), but through their tenacity and hard work, still come out on top in the end. In some ways, it’s the cinematic epitome of the American Dream.

This is such a comfort movie for me. As a child this movie was the reason I fell in love with weather and tornadoes. Every time I watch this movie it's like coming home or hanging out with old friends. The energy in this scene alone really got me pumped and excited like I was part of the gang.

People in the theater were sad when the lemonades fell off the car. Sitting in the theater, eating salted popcorn, those lemonades looked tasty.
At 2:34...Did you know that in the original script, these 2 weren't supposed to be singing "Oklahoma" together? The guy playing Beltzer was only supposed to sing it as a solo, but he wanted her to join her. The 2 rehearsed it as a duet, went to the director (Jon De Bont) and he ended up liking it so much, he put it in the movie.
Decision that saved the movie. Only half kidding.

Nobody ever talks about this part of the movie. Two minutes of really intricate audio editing and mixing and then...it's just over. Really gets your blood pumping for the thrill of the hunt.

This movie came out May 10 of 96 and I was born August 28 of 96. One of my favorite movies.
I'm pretty sure this movie helped influence my clustered musical tastes as a kid. Seamlessly going from rock, to classical, to Broadway all in one go.

I showed this movie to my mother last night on our semi-weekly movie night. She *loved* this scene exlaiming, of the stormchasers' battlecries into the storm/singing as they prep saying, "They're so happy!" I said, "They *live for this*, I mean it's what they do" Of course she'd later realize I was quoting from the movie.
Love the musical segue of Eric Clapton's 'Motherless Child' to the mash-up of Deep Purple's 'Child In Time' (Ritchie Blackmore's epic guitar solo), ''William Tell Overture' and the song 'Oklahoma' from the Rodgers & Hammerstein 1955 musical 'Oklahoma' film soundtrack - What a hoot! Really captures the anxious pursuit of the storm chasers as they haul ass heading out to greet a possible F5 'finger of God' tornado.

Dank951 Yeah after I watched Hunger Games Catching Fire and the subsequent sequels, never knew it was him in this movie. Damn good actor, wish he could have managed his demons.
I actually saw it in theater in 1996 when I was 6 years old and saw his name in the credits. I literally never forgot it.
I knew he did and followed his career because he played Dusty, which Phillip never really got enough recognition for. In the grand scheme of the movie, the Dusty character was a very important character and showed Phillip's acting range long before the majority of people noticed it.
This was the first movie I saw him in and became a fan of his. He was extremely diverse, actually very talented and probably quite underestimated, though often supporting actors/actresses are. He was very funny in Along came polly and I quite liked him in the talented Mr Ripley amongst many other movies!

What I really love about this movie is other than the CGI tornadoes, most of the clouds you see are real storm clouds in the Texas and Oklahoma areas.
And in some situations, they'd get caught in those storms and have to stop production

The interesting thing is that the song is Deep Purple's, but the video is from a Ritchie Blackmore's Rainbow concert. Ritchie was also the guitar player for Deep Purple.

Oh Dusty, you barrel of energy! Hard to forget him, both for his attitude and his name, which I share.
Wish the names of the storm crew were mentioned more than once or not at all, cause some never get their names mentioned, let alone their last names or real names. Hard to tell who is who sometimes.
Often movies like this would get "novelizations", both a "thickish" regular book type & a "junior" version. But for Twister, instead of the studio having someone adapt the script for the regular one, they released the "screenplay in book form" as originally written by Crichton & his wife Anne-Marie. I would recommend those if you can find one for learning more about supporting characters who may get confusing onscreen. It definitely can help a lot xD
