Are the Taurus pistols any good? In this video, we're taking a look at the Taurus G3X, G3C, and G3 to see if they're any good. Let's see if they have the durability, reliabality, and overall good quality that Taurus has been working towards.
In this video we will talk about the G3c, G3c, G3, GX4 and how they have held up after a few thousand rounds through them. Overall I have round the quality to be good for the price point.
Who knows, maybe you'll find a great gun that you were looking for at Taurus Firearms!

Really glad to see the G series getting this attention. these are great guns that over perform for their price point. I have a G3C i have had no issues with and I’m considering the GX4. I have two G3C’s, one is a TORO, TX22 and a GX4 TORO Love them all but the GX4 is awesome!! I bought a Lakeline ported barrel and it’s just a nice improvement IMO! You wont be disappointed in the GX4!

    • @killacoiler1707

@@TacticalConsiderations I have to agree with your assessment of the GX4. I went to a rental range and put it against the Max-9, Shield Plus, Hellcat, 43x, and Sig XL only to find that its ergonomics and trigger were better than most of the other offerings.
I place the GX4 tied with the shield plus for best ergonomics and at the top of the list for best stock trigger IMO. I placed the Max-9 tied with the Hellcat for best stock iron sights. That HiViz fiber optic/tritium hybrid front sight on the Max9 is awesome and the U-notch on the Springfield is so easy on the eyes compared to squared notch be it blacked out, 3 dot, or goal post. The only rear sight I like better than the U-notch is an Express with a tritium tube (dot the i).
I think if Taurus were to take the frame geometry and design of the GX4 and TX22 and make a new series of true double stack 9mms to replace the G3 line they would fly off the shelves like crazy; especially, if they utilized the GX4 trigger group. That double strike feature is not worth the added initial takeup when in single action. The G3C trigger otherwise is very nice with a crisp break and reasonably short reset that is audible and tactile. I just think that the Millenium based G series of pistols has had its run and needs a total makeover and the styling of the TX22 and GX4 are excellent cues to go by.

@Lawrence Arnell I have owned several G series pistols and not for nothing every single one has been 100% reliable. The biggest problem with them is lack of commercial branded aftermarket support. I think if there were more options for performance upgrades that they would become far more popular across the board. I think that why most people turn their heads is that they can't modify it the way they can a Glock, Springfield, CZ, M&P, or P320.
I think that the aftermarket manufacturers don't see the point in making triggers like an Apex Flatty, fluted barrels like a Salient, and so forth because of the retail price of the firearm. They can't picture the person who buys a 245 dollar pistol paying 175 bucks for a trigger or 200 bucks for a barrel. My answer to that is why wouldn't someone do this? They could build their ultimate carry pistol for roughly the same money that it costs for a stock PDP or VP9, versus the 1.5 to 2.5k that it costs to build a Gucci Glock.
You also have to consider this, if a person buys a T.O.R.O model G3 variant for say 325 or so and then puts a Holosun 507c x2 on it, they spent 55 bucks more on an optic than they did the pistol it rides on and still came in less than the cost of a 365 xl macro.
I look at it like this not everyone wants to spend 600 to 700 bucks for a name on a frame to then sink another 600 into it to make it perform the way they want it to when the can buy just as reliable of a firearm for 1/3 the price and have everything they wanted performance wise done to it for 5/8ths the total cost. JMO.

Absolutely spot on advice about the cleaning and lubing tip. As was discussed, my G3C was quite dirty from the factory. I cleaned it before using it the first time, and thought I had lubed it properly, and well. Apparently I missed something, as when I went to the range, the gun locked up on me. The range officer broke it down for me, and applied a bit more lube, and the gun shot very well afterwards - accurately and with no jams. I have tried a few different brands of ammo in both 115 and 124 grain, and have not had an issue with any after that first lock up.
The only other thing that wasn't perfect right out of the box was that the front sight was loose. So I'd add to make sure and check that the screw holding the sight is adequately tightened when you do the first couple of cleanings and lubing before use.

Spot on, these things absolutely need a cleaning and lube out of the box. The slide action was awful and I had to use both hands to disengage the slide lock. I followed the steps in your cleaning video and wow, what a difference. Slide action became silky smooth and I could disengage the lock with a light touch. I always supported 2A but never participated because other people had me convinced that I had to drop big bucks on a Glock or Sig. I did my research, ignored the fanboys, and pulled the trigger on the G3c (pun intended). I bought a Taurus gx4 on friday. I took it to the range monday. After about 75 rounds, I had about a 10% light strike rate on Winchester white box ammo, and those rounds worked fine in my ex macro. When I got it home to clean, the slide takedown pin wouldn't rotate to the right position. So after shooting it for about an hour, I sent my brand new gx4 back to Taurus for repairs. 99% of these Taurus reviews seem to be pretty positive, and maybe I got a lemon, but I feel like somebody should know.

The accuracy is very acceptable to about 30 yards. I shoot only Federal Ammo because I just like 'em. Other pistols I try to use CCI when I can get them, particularly in smaller calibers than 9mm. I love my Taurus and have recommended them every time someone asks me about an inexpensive, good firearm to purchase. I use white lithium grease on the slide, which seems to work well in reducing coating wear and providing excellent lubricity. It also helps in preservation since IWB holsters (here in Texas) will trap any perspiration and may cause negative effects.

Good words man Good words. Better safe than sorry! 😉 I’ve had thePT111 G2 for years and years. Many trips to the range. Never any trouble yet! 😉 Don’t know how many rounds, but thousands for sure. Been subbed for years, sharing.

The finish on taurus pistols aren't really durable.its a bit under an XD finish but glock finish is better than both

    • @TacticalConsiderations
      @TacticalConsiderations  ปีที่แล้ว +1

The coating on the Taurus stuff will show wear but its permeated into the metal its a pretty proven finish in the industry may not look the best but does its job protection wise.

I bought a G3 a year ago. It’s not a all day at the range gun especially for this 67 year young man. Reminds me the time I was shooting a S&&W 357 and the owner prefer hand loaded heavy grain bullets (180 ) shooting got to be painful after 30 rounds. Federal made a hunting 180 grain 357 round at the time. Oh I did have some feeding problems but I polish the Ramp and it works fine now. I remember one of my uncles polishing the ramp in his high power back in the 1970’s

It seems that anyone that has an issue. It is likely resolved with a little polishing of the feed rimp

Thank you for your review. Since 1990 I have owned either a Taurus PT99 or PT92. In 2016 I picked up a Taurus PT111G2, and have since picked up the G2C, several Taurus revolvers and today I'm carrying my Taurus G3X. All of these firearms have been reliable and accurate. I have no patience with Taurus bashers.

Never had any issue with Taurus. I have a G3X and .357 Raging Hunter. Fired the G3X right out of the box with zero issues and no FTEs. Very good firearms for the price.

I bought mine a month ago. I heard the G3c was having feeding issues so I paid the gunsmith $45 to polish the feed ramp. Today I shot 150 rounds through it with no malfunction. I highly recommend this pistol.

I don’t personally own any of the G series but I’m glad they exist. A good affordable striker fired option with strong aftermarket support.
I own their TX22 and absolutely love that little plinker

That TX22 is a great little set up as well. So much fun and cheap.

Great pistols, great value! I own several G2Cs, a G3 and EDC a G3C. Very reliable, ergonomic and affordable guns. I can basically make a G3X out of G3C with the G3 17 rd mag and Taurus grip spacer.

Great review, I just got my G3c and love it. Only complaint I have is the stippling is super aggressive and rubs my stomach when carrying appendix but other than that no issue. Great affordable firearm

I am a Taurus fan and I own 9mm and a 40cal G3Cs plus TH40 a G3 TORO a TX22 and I still own a PT 140 PRO MILLENNIUM. I also have owned PT111s and a couple of G2Cs and I own a TRACKER 44mag revolver. When I purchase a new firearm whether it is a pistol, rifle, or a shotgun I always clean them when I get them home and before the first range day. No matter what brand it seems that they all work better plus I have inspected them. Like you I have run thousands of rounds thru my Taurus's with no problems and they eat every type of ammo I feed them. I personally carry my 40cal G3C every day and I feel confident that it will preform when needed. Thank you for your video. Have a nice day.

Have you listened to the Black Rifle Coffee Podcast with Taurus’ CEO? He was the one that developed the Walther PDP before going to Taurus. Definitely worth a listen.
