As an Android (OneUI) user on mobile and Linux (KDE) user on desktop, I'm constantly being surprised how good Apple's UIs look on screenshots and how bad they are to navigate in practice. Like, certain things seem purposefully handicapped, out of Apple's sheer self-righteousness
Have an example of what is bad to navigate on iOS? My worst navigation experience was when Samsung removed their own gestures. My hands are incompatible with the Google gestures so I turned on buttons. The result was two button rows in the TH-cam app and me not being sure where the back button will bring me. Sometimes I was using it and was unintentionally back to the Home Screen. Other apps add confusion by allowing that only after some sort of confirmation. You never know what you get with that button. Adding Samsung‘s Good Lock app I could reenable Samsung gestures. What a confusing system. Didn’t help convince me to stay on Android.
Simplicity is often underrated, and Apple understands that most consumers are not tech enthusiasts looking for countless niche features. This is why Apple continues to dominate both sales and profits, capturing 85% of the smartphone market's profits. In business, it is essential to target core consumers, and Apple excels at this. For those seeking more features, there are plenty of options available with Android phones.
@@andyH_England Tell me please what's simplistic about having the "back" button in a different place for every app or the top panel sliding back on its own if you don't unroll it to the very bottom. Or the fact that you actually have to grab it from a specific corner (how am I supposed to know that?). Or what's simplistic about the red button on a window not closing the app but merely minimizing it while having a separate button for that as well at the same time. I can go on and on... OnePlus, Xiaomi, Vivo, and Samsung phones don't require third-party apps to adjust specific camera settings. These features are integrated directly into the device's camera app." and capture in raw format also,
5:00 Actually that’s wrong. iOS also has a categorised volume system similar to android. The only difference is that for the other types on volumes you have to change them via settings. You only adjust media volume from the control center or the buttons.
It wasn't really clear to me what the issue with HyperOS recent apps was. Just have to swipe up and not to the side, and you have the choice of horizontal or vertical. Imo it's just the same as the others but with some flexibility
5:50 the background of the wallpaper can be blurred if you go to the wallpaper customization, click on effects and swipe right. You can add a color tint or different effects, including the blurred wallpaper.
when did you record this video? as of the release date google pixels got a huge update revamping animations but you didn't use that which is very unfortunate
In fact, the Pixel does have a professional mode with options to change the shutter speed, etc. In the lower right case, there are three bars, clicking on them gives you access to all of this.
It's a good comparison but we need a bit more professional comparison, we need to know what got most useful features what's the polished OS, what has less ads, best security, software update, software support, those things
I would love it if Google decoupled the recents app switcher, and opened it up to third party developers, just like the launcher. We would get so many different implementations. Right now, Google's own stock recents is the best simply because of select text and screenshot. Those are excellent features. Not sure what's the point of OnePlus displaying app icons at the bottom in the recents view.
Regarding swiping to remove notifications: It isn't complicated on iOS at all. You swipe it to the wrong side one time, and then you'll know. If I were using Android for the first time and initially thought I would remove the notification by clicking it or swiping it up and/or down, then that would be considered complicated too......... Just like swiping up to go to home screen. Some older folks prefer home buttons because they find it complicated, while the rest of the world has adapted to it.
OneUi is a superior OS and ecosystem, especially with Good Lock. But Samsung should optimize the devices better, they are lagging if they're overheated.

Who would have thought (15-20 years ago) that phones in 2024 would be so boring. They look all alike hardware and software wise. I personally am not motivated to change the phone unless it becomes really sluggish and apps don't work anymore, because I know that even the new smartphone would be "old" after 1 week because of its monotony in design and lack of wow factor. Thanks for the video! Very interesting and well explained.
On my S24 ultra I sometimes blur a wallpaper using Snapseed for my homescreen. I'll set the original (unblurred) picture to the lockscreen and the blurred one I will set to my homescreen. It's not very user-friendly this way as you have to set both wallpapers in a way that they are centered the same way so you'll get a smooth transition when you lock or unlock your phone. Samsung needs to do something about this as you mentioned in your video! Great video's by the way, keep up the good work!
The UI of BBK smartphones consistently improves annually, accompanied by innovative features, compact large batteries, rapid charging, and exceptional camera quality. In contrast, Samsung relies heavily on its brand reputation and One UI, which may eventually lead to a shift in market dominance.
Actually there is a Pro photo/video mode for the Google Pixel phones / Pixel Launcher but only for the Google Pixel Pro models. It doesn’t show for the regular Pixel models.

Good comprehensive ui/ux comparison between different os this is particularly usefull for a person who is considering to switch to different phone. I am looking for very detailed version of these kind of comparison video for specific things like gallery, lockscreen, customization, video/photo app, phone app, etc... btw thanks for the vid❤
Android should add a "switch between home screens" feature that is similar to switching desktops on windows 11. You can have multiple desktops on win11 and switch between them which takes multi tasking to whole new level. Since phones now come with 8-12+ gb ram, Android should be able to support it. Call it creating multiple virtual machines running Android within Android.
These are great but I'm more interested in getting more upgrades for the Samsung gallery app. Here are my suggestions for the Samsung Gallery App; - Gallery App Enhancements: 1. Improved Search Functionality: Add a search button within each album to make finding specific photos easier. 2. Remember Last Location: Ensure the app remembers the last scroll position in an album when exiting and re-entering it. 3. Batch Rename Functionality: Allow users to rename multiple photos at once instead of one by one. 4. Customisable Column Count: Provide the ability to adjust column counts in albums, possibly via Galaxy Labs. 5. Background Transfers: Enable transferring photos between albums as a background process so users can continue accessing the Gallery during transfers. These are my suggestions for the Samsung Gallery App because I'm a photographer. If you like these suggestions, please send them to Samsung. Let's make this happen.
While the video provided a good overview, it could be improved by including more specific details. For example, it could highlight the universal Android feature of accessing both notifications and quick settings with a single swipe down from the top of the screen. Users can then toggle between the two as needed. Additionally, the video could delve deeper into the OnePlus device's ability to individually control app volume levels, a feature that many users find particularly useful.
There are important differences between customizations, which is great. Life would be quite dull if every product used the same software and design. Thankfully, many of us appreciate that Apple and Android have their own unique approaches, providing us with choices. While your examples may appeal to some, many people do not find them ground-breaking or particularly de facto essential.
As a Samsung user, I'm not impressed how similar they've madeone ui 7 look like ios 18. I know you can use good lock to customise the phone but i do prefer a Samsung phone not to be like its competitor, only reason why they're doing that is to get more iPhone users to switch.
