Thanks for this. I was just starting to get frustrated. I had the lock issue too!! It flashes like its got a flat battery. Instructions have nothing about battery charging or unlocking. I love the 'uncoonected' as opposed to disconnected in the software. Website is a bit one language but luckily Google Chrome translates this to something for you. Few improvements to company processes and it would be much better. Hope they have a good customer feedback portal, yet to see this function but good to go...

I have this gimbal. For the price, it's okay, but for me, it has pretty much become a piece of hardware, which is fine, but not "as advertised". At least for me, and I think part of that is because I'm on an android phone. First, my gimbal also is a bit "off" center. It simply won't sit fully parallel to the ground, but it's all good, I just adjust how I hold it, so it works for me, and the stabilization is actually awesome, but... my issues... the software for me is lame. The follow feature is "ok", like you say, but it loses me easily, and I have to move really carefully to get it to work. Not really useful. and the object option doesn't work at all for me. Only face. But my biggest issue is that I am stuck with only 30fps. The company has been really cool with me, trying hard to get all of the functionality available to iPhone users over to my LG V40, but it's way short, no matter what they do. My phone can shoot 24, 30, 60, 120 and 240 fps, but with the iSteady X, only 30, and so, that's really annoying. And pro mode is not as good as my native phone app in the LG, so, no use for that, either, and so, overall, if I want to play around with the moment settings, that's kinda fun, and maybe I can find a shot that might actually be useful in there, but overall, I use it with my native V40 app, as a piece of hardware gear, and once someone comes out with a gimbal that is really compatible with my phone, I'll probably abandon my little iSteady X. Having said all of that, it's hard to argue with the price, and given that, I'm grateful for some of the good things... to have really good stabilization, and the ability to have the gimbal turn over really easily for low-to-the-ground shots, and it's SO EASY to mount, which is not the case with many gimbals. It's light, and easy to carry around, like you said, you can just put it in your bag and forget about it. Oh, and it works really well with the wide angle lens on my phone, because the motor is offset enough, which is not the case with some of the other gimbals, another thing. So, there are some good things about it, some really useful things, but, in my opinion, just as hardware. I think for serious work, AT THE LEAST, I should be able to shoot at 24fps if I want to. Of course, I can use filmic pro with it, but again, just as hardware. Filmic will work with my V40, but Hohem's app is limited. Really limited. Bottom line. At least for android. Quick question. I'm trying to find out how I would get it to track me walking. If it loses my face, which it would when waking away, how can I object track myself? Would I need to fit my phone facing the other way and draw round myself or is there another way round it? Thanks.

Just a note, from iSteady X2 app setup and activation, do not connect via bluetooth before registering an account. Connecting the device is recognized as a text input, thus keypad is disabled on the phone and you wont be able to type anything. HTH

It isn't covered in this video, but the gimbal has a curved bit where the phone is mounted specifically to stay out of frame. I got one of these last week, and the wide angle lens on my huawei p30 lite doesn't get photo-bombed by a gimbal arm/ rotor.
This thing is very frustrating to use, I have to fiddle with it way before any sort of shot to ensure it MAY work. I can't seem to figure out the combination to get it to work wen I want it to.

Hi Sir, i bought Platiro 1.55 Anamorphic lens and Variable ND filter. My hohem i study X is unable to handle the weight. Is there any way to balance the lens and filter. I am using these on my mobile phone.
I bought the same gimbal a few weeks back, and mine is about 2 deg off straight, can’t seem to fix it, started looking how to contact support to it ended up watching your video on TH-cam. The iOS all has just had an update and seems to have the same features now, professionals mode was added and gesture. One feature I’m struggling with is setting points during a time lapse, if you start the app and go into time lapse with final turned off you can see set points, however once the gimbal is powered on the option to set point a is not available.
No! you do not have a bad one. The auto-calibration is rubbish. I set my phone using a spirit level, then switched on auto-calibration and the Hohem adjusted my iPhone at a slant - it did this for both landscape and portrait mode. The Joystick button came off on day-2. I only unpacked the gimbal. I emailed Hohem and never heard from them again. Mind you, much like using a drone, I find that without the ‘joystick’ things, you get better/smoother control using your thumbs to control the 360 degrees movement. The Hohem exposure setting is useless as it will not hold. In my opinion this Hohem iSteady X is okay if you wish for a cheap casual play-around. The best way to use the gimbal is to not use the Hohem software - instead, setup your iPhone’s (or Android) exposure to Apple's own Photo App, then use the iPhone with the gimbal only. Hohem’s TH-cam Channel has a very good guy who tells you how to get some great shots. However, I guess that his videos were worked on I have a much more expensive gimbal and the difference between that and this rinky-dink Hohem is night and day.

There are 4 modes. You can change them in the app in the settings (cog). Or use the buttons. Press and hold shutter button. Now tap power button 1 time for Pan/Tilt Follow. 2 times: Follow. 3 times: ALL Lock. 4 times: POV
Can we change the modes independently on the gimbal itself without having to use the gimbal's native camera? I mean, can we do that in third party cam app?

But at the moment there seems to be a glitch with the app when I enable the bluetooth mic, the video files don't record properly. Aside from that, looks like they've worked on the Hohem Pro app a bit for Android, so looking forward to testing it with Note20 Ultra

If it's slanted you need to power off, readjust the balance (if already perfectly balanced, then offset it slightly) and power on.

Mine is not balanced only on POV mode strangely. It leans left. I tried all the instructions etc but never fixed it. It works fine on other modes.

How does it work with wide lenses? I had to switch from the Zhiyun 4 to the Dji osmo 3 because the motor was always in frame.

yeah it's a similar design to the DJI Osmo Mobile 3, motor should be out of shot
