Just a note to others who may have bought this last year, like I did. After over an hour of troubleshooting and finally emailing Hohem, I found out there is a "classic" version and a "2022" version of this device. The classic version requires the Hohem Gimbal app; whereas, the 2022 version requires the Hohem Joy app. If you install the wrong app, it won't connect to your device. Stupid that they would keep the same device name but not program the new app to work with the previous version of the device. Their website doesn't tell you this anywhere. They replaced the older support videos.

Have had this gimbal for a while and did not know you could manually adjust the actual "tilt" balance. 😯 Worked fine just clipping the phone in but will do this extra adjustment from now on.😀 Also found out I had an early version of the gimbal reading the comments and the Hohem app which has all types of gimbals you can choose from like iSteady Pro 2 . Mobile + and so on works fine too. Great tutorial and very helpful I have learnt a lot. 😍

This is a way better tutorial than Hohem gave me. My phone keeps sinking like it's too heavy and I can't get it to stand upright before turning it on, no matter where I adjust the bracket and arm - it's really annoying me, and it feels like it's loose compared to yours in this video. Frustrating, but I appreciate this tutorial.
concur! excellent explanation on how to set up/balance the gimbal and all the different functions. after watching this vid, i've used the gimbal for a few days and it does a very good job making stabilized video. but the user guide that came with the gimbal lacked adequate instruction. This is a great tutorial and it convinced me to get this gimbal but one major deal breaker for me is that there is no way to have a wireless mic receiver at the end of your phone while filming horizontally. I need great audio and my DJI wireless mics ensure I have that.
@MamoAir and now I have a problem after few times using the gimbal, one of the motors is overheating and after 10-15 seconds the gimbal stops working. And I can't find videos about this kind of problem.

Hello thete. Thanks for the message. You could try by attaching a cold shoe adapter to the screw thread on the side if the gimbal, or a magic arm...or a clamp to the handle of the gimbal. Usua. Hi and thanks for the comment. To add a receiver for your microphone you need a cold shoe to be attached to the 1/4 jnch screw on the side of the gimbal and an audio cable long enough to go from your receiver to the phone. Hope this helps. Subscribe for more. Ciao

Does anyone know if there's a button on the gimbal that allows you to switch between using the rear-facing to the front-facing camera of your phone (and then switch back again of course)? This would allow for more of a walk-and-talk type of video/chat style of course.
Hi Hugh. I cannot remember that funcion. But you can simple use the trigger to spin the gimbal 180 degrees and keep using the rear camera of the phone, which is usually better quality anyway. Condiser to subscribe for more videos. Ciao
Does the M5 Gimble work with iphone 15 pro? it seems that the frame of the gimble is always in the picture/video due to the location of the camera on the iphone.
Is it just me, or am I also finding many others that are having trouble with balancing it. I just got mine and after a month, have it finally assembled. But now I am struggling with the balancing aspect. I will figure it out of course. Just wondering why did Hohem make it so tricky and not so simple with easy to follow instructions. Which mode should I use to record my kid's soccer game? The L (Locked mode)? I tried that mode and the gimbal was a bit slow to track unless I pressed the Sport button.

Hi there, yes, you can use the native camera and resolution of your phone . You do not have to use the app. But if you use the app you will access more features of the gimbal

Help: the Hohem App does not seem to detect via bluetooth the gimbal. I currently use an iphone 13 promax with case. Is there a way around this? Not possible to charge the phone in horizontal mode, as the motor is blocking the phones power in connector. Right?

Hi @Mamo! I’ve just started using the Hohem iSteady Mobile+, thank you for this and other tutorials. I have a few urgent questions! I’m using aniPhone 14:
1) How to change the depth of field (make it shallow) when shooting within the Hohem app? (This is Cinematic mode on photos)
2) how to zoom in and out if shooting on video (cinematic mode) not within the Hohem app?

When I turn it on, mine usually starts to spin out of control in both the X and Y axis. Do you have an idea of what could be causing that?

Which mode should I use to record my kid's soccer game? The L (Locked mode)? I tried that mode and the gimbal was a bit slow to track unless I pressed the Sport button.

But can you help me with this question - the QR code in my manual leads me to download the "Hohem Gimbal" app, but I notice you are using the "Hohem Joy" app. So which is newer or better? Thank you in advance.

Hi there, yes, you can use the native camera and resolution of your phone . You do not have to use the app. But if you use the app you will access more features of the gimbal
I just got the isteady mobile+. It takes like 2 photos then the screen goes black, and it decides it's not compatibke with my phone Galaxy s21 Ultra. Any idea what's happening & how I rectify it?

Help: the Hohem App does not seem to detect via bluetooth the gimbal. I currently use an iphone 13 promax with case. Is there a way around this?
Or is there a way to turn the device on WITHOUT using the app? I have tried doing this, but it would only stay on for about 15 seconds before shutting itself off since it cannot connect to the device via bluetooth.
