When I came back from Mexico to the US, I got the secondary inspection treatment. I had to declare everything I brought back, they went through my luggage, swabbed everything for drugs and explosive residue and they took my passport and ran my travel history and any criminalities. They also asked why I travel a lot. Similar things happened when I was in Abu Dhabi and Dubai

The same happened to me in august 2022. I'm from Italy, I was 23, first time in the Us (JFK) and I was alone. But honestly the officer there asked me only few questions, like what my hotel was and how long I was going to stay. Very nice officer.

It is a wrong idea that they pick persons randomly. They have an algorithm which predicts the probability of you being a legitimate traveler, using the answers you gave at the initial visa checking place and your passport info. It is a simple logistic regression algorithm. If you are a single, male, 20-40 years old, traveling not for business you have a high chance of being subjected to secondary inspection.

Don’t feel bad they do this all the time and often to their own citizens.

I hated secondary inspection. As soon as I walked into the room, someone was getting deported. I waited for 2.5 hrs. The screen between you and the officer is thick and the a/c is loud so you basically have to shout your most personal details at them for the whole room to hear. There were no interrogation rooms; just a person at a desk calling us up one by one.
The lady before me had to talk loudly about all her cancer treatments with her son right there. Also, they don't advise that you should bring any documents into the room. All they say is to leave your bags at the door. So if the officer is asking for proof of something that may be in your hand luggage, you aren't able to go and get it. They spent almost 30 minutes asking me everything about my mom and dad, all my social media info, and then finally ended by asking me if I'd traveled to any Middle-Eastern countries, and then I was like "Ohhhhhh.. It's because of my last name".

Thanks for sharing Jansher. It's the law now. Immigration officers have authority to ask you any questions/check phone, social media etc they want to know about you. It's their job. Be polite & answer all questions. You should be good to go. Secondary is a normal procedure now.

Even I had the same experience second time when am travelled to usa . They really ask me list of questions and got drilled screwed up .. they took my phone and I don’t knw they din’t even opened it . But as a women and I was travelling alone to visit my sister and that day I was really feeling ill after getting down the flight cant even able to resist myself . And he said as am not taking my child along with me so,am a bad mother .. he insulted me and motherhood . Nothing is there I jus want to visit places with my sis and the thing is I visited back in 3 mnth s again to usa . That’s made them suspect me . But when we are not doing any illegal things and though we don’t have any intensions they will suspect like terrorists . The system should change no respect no politenes really anawkward experience and am frightened to visit again

Your not a bad mother.....I'm sorry about your experience. I myself (USA citizen) yesterday in Taiwan airport had SSSS printed on my boarding pass. I had no idea what was happening, but like you I had about 10 minutes of swabbing, Pat down, questions, shoes off, etc. Terrible process to be put thru when your connecting to your final flight back to your own country. ✈️🇺🇸

i flew from germany to chicago with my 2 kids and we were held and treated like criminals for SIX hours. They took you to secondary screening because your are brown and from South Asia. No other reason. CBP profiles anyone from there and do this. They don't care if you miss your connection (we did...it was 5 hours later). We were held longer than drug dealers that were arrested in front of us, they had old people also asian in wheelchairs held for 2-3-4 hours. They will never tell you WHY you were held and will never apologize. Good luck in your future trips to the US. I'm an American btw and a citizen of the US since 1980 and my kids 17 and 10 were both born in Houston. This won't ever change. We live in Europe and try our best NOT to fly to the US unless we absolutely have to.

    • @opr5766
      @opr5766 2 ปีที่แล้ว

"No other reason."? He did mention he was denied entry previously. I would think that would definitely be cause for them to take a person into secondary.

Nine years ago when I was a teenager, me and my family were travelling from Ireland to California. We were going through US Customs in San Francisco airport and the TSA agent that was interviewing us asked some very, weird questions (as they do). Particularly, he asked why my little brother was the only one in our family who had red hair. 😂😂
My parents had to explain to him that red hair was a recessive gene and that both my parents were carriers of it. I have cousins, aunties and a grandmother who have red hair. I told this story to other Americans and they said he might’ve thought my little brother was being trafficked as it tends to happen often. The TSA agent obviously let us through no problem. Thankfully, he never took us to a separate room for further interrogation. 😅 I know they’re only trying to protect America’s borders but what a question to ask! 🫣😂

Great video. Sorry about your experience. I also had SSSS on my boarding pass yesterday in Taiwan airport. As we (the passengers) were in line to board, the airlines employee told me to go down stairs to another big room and wait for my name and seat number to be called. The next 30 minutes were nerve wracking. I never heard about SSSS before. Anyway, it's becoming unbearable to fly these days. ✈️🇺🇸

I have had the same experience and at same port EWR , and twice and happened after i made almost 20 trips to US. But i think i bought seperate 1 way tickets both the time and that could be the reason for ssss . And almost same type of irrelevant questions were asked from me too.
I had a connecting flight which i missed and the experience was nasty and made me think twice do i need to visit the country again .
I almost thought i was shahrukh khan of my name is khan movie.
I think EWR should be avoided by all means though i have used ewr couple of times in past

Every country is allowed to protect their borders - just be glad you didn't get a gun in your face. I did once - in Afghanistan. If you don't like in depth screenings, don't travel. All countries have screenings. All of them. I saw an older lady get taken into a separate room to have her wet diaper checked to make sure it was really a diaper. And she was a born in the US American citizen, had contributed to her country for decades as a nurse and now just wanted to take a flight to visit the family of her children. So..... get over it.
