Hey parth! How is the immigration at Phoenix airport? i’ve got around 2-2.5 hours of layover for my next flight, will that be enough?

The first airport I will be landing at in US is New York and then go to Detroit. I am gonna stay on campus for the first week and in this first week I am gonna search for an off campus housing and shift there. So my question is are the officers gonna ask me where I am going to stay and do I need to show the proof of it? Also please tell if there is any problem if I stay on campus for first week and the shift off campus.

All kinds of food are not allowed. If you plan to bring food, declare them in the entry card. You can then explain to the officer why you want them. Since you declared the food, you won't be fined. The immigration officer gives the last input on whether you can take the food or not.
Hey Parth! my port of entry is San Francisco via Emirates and I will be flying to Eugene, Oregon after that. My layover is for three hours, is that enough time to clear immigration and catch my connecting flight? Secondly, will I be charged extra for my luggage (2x23 Kgs and 1 7kgs) in my flight from San Francisco to Eugene because most domestic American flights have a lower luggage limit

The airports you mentioned are the major hubs but they are not the only ones which serve as port of entry. Any airport in US which handles international flights has immigration and customs facility(some regional airports might be the exception since they don't get international traffic). Moreover POE is the first airport where you enter the US. I could arrive at Phoenix from London and then continue to the bigger hubs like NY, Chicago etc. Heck one can arrive in Alaska or Hawaii for that matter and continue further. Not a problem. Also, ever heard of "US preclearence"
Yes these bigger airports are prefferd by airlines since they can sell the most seats on these routes and these are hub airports for one of the 3 major US airlines. This is also convenient for connecting passengers. Please get your facts right before posting something since it affects a lot of people who follow you for advice and guidance.

I would say avoid it. I booked on goibibo from Hyd to Dubai and Dubai to Dallas in one single booking. The first flight is air India and second is emirates. I didn’t realise I was supposed to check in again at Dubai. Now because of that, I have to take a transit visa in Dubai, change from terminal 1 to 3 and check in again. That’s a huge headache! Always prefer same flights.

@@aneeshkrishna4375 hundreds of thousands of students come here as students but there are only 85k H1Bs every year. For those who were lucky enough to get the lottery, decades-long wait for the green card. Day1 is borderline illegal and can't visit families on it.
