Wow that's awesome, especially since it finally worked after consistently trying again and again only to be met with failure. Determination definitely pays off. This is also one of the few recordings out there that look really good on a gloomy, rainy day. Great job!
I gotta say that is amazing! I like how it's mossy and it's raining with cool tree landscape in the background. That thing has been standing strong all those years since it was installed.
I'm glad you finally got this. as much as we joke about it, this is one of your best videos. The sounds, the backdrop, the foamage from that thing. I'm imagining your OH face as being similar to mine in Harrodsburg. Congrats bud!
It was awesome to meet up with you again and it was so cool to finally hear one of these! I love how you Alertronic graphic fades away to reveal a functioning Alertronic, great video!
Really late to the party on this, but your efforts to successfully record an Alertronic paid off in more ways than one, Christian. Not only did you get the first video an Oak Ridge Alertronic, but you also got video of what is possibly the first known single tone AL-6000R running on the original controls!
Denison, TX had these sirens I heard them during Tornado warnings a lot and also they replaced them with 2001s recently I don't know if they will still work.
All these time I've heard it, and I would have seen it in action a month prior had the first Wednesday been any day other than July 4th. I'm still honestly bummed about it. At least someone did get footage of it. Hopefully the stars align when I get down there again.
If only the remaining Omnidirectional Alertronics were still functional. This one does sound similar to the one video of one of the Omni models. Same/similar controller I would assume?
That's dedication and you were well rewarded for it. I'm wondering, which sirens did you visit on your other trips and do you know which others were active? I've heard the whole K25 system is decommissioned now which is a massive shame but I guess I'm just interested in how many they actually kept running. I wonder if they'll remove them or just let them rot. Thanks for this great video!
Honestly, not entirely sure which of the others were active. We have a rough idea but were never able to confirm any other than Poplar Springs. I've seen just about all of them in person though.
@@4J25 Hi thanks for the reply. I've had a look round on google earth as I'm sure many others have and see some that were quite obviously rotating. Can I ask roughly how many you thought were kept operational? I suppose I'm just interested in this system, despite it A: being no longer operational and B: in a completely different country!
@@SirensAndAlarmsOfNorthernIL Sure, but this is the first Alertronic seen with its original "soft-start" controller. A few other dual-tone Alertronic's have been found, but AFAIK this is the first single-tone one that was filmed that didn't get upgraded.
It this one of the early models? I heard the early models had the chains for their rotator box and then later on they decided to add collecter rings instead of chains.
This was one of the most satisfying videos I've watched in a long time. Knowing how far you've come with your channel and trying and trying and trying to record this and finally getting it is a heartwarming feeling. The echoes caused by the hills after the winddown sounded insane. How directional was it? It didn't sound overly directional, though that could be due to the terrain. Great video bud. Congratulations. -JMAN(WiS&S)
Many of those sirens around that area have been abandoned they should be refurbished an moved to areas of the state that need warning sirens the ones that still work just sound terrible

You should video one of these one day.
Christian must have been foaming the whole time. Lol!

Nice to meet up with you again too. Also, it's about time someone noticed the logo!
4j25 I saw it too.
Holy crap, that’s an incredible find. I’m surprised it still works... that thing is at least 30 years old!
Thanks for finally making my day with a working Oak Ridge Alertronic.
I wish those other Alertronics in Oak Ridge still worked!!

Someone clean it!, so this was what asc first tryed making electronic sirens
Awesome seeing an AL-6000R in service!
This is one of my favourite outdoor warning sirens.
That reverb is godly
i used to live by one of these in denison tx... the tornado warnings were always scary because of these sirens
It's me, I decided to join TH-cam.

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAÆEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH.
rain.
Nice shot of the hill and power lines
Wow, in all that humidity, the fiberglass is growing moss.
Strange, sirens on the Oregon coast are tested at the exact same time! 11:00 AM on the first Wednesday of the month. PDT time though.
That angle is SICK
I know right!

Nice! I love Alertronic's They sound so cool
Especially dual toned
This video is going in a record book!
Sounds very healthy with no sound drops!

@@richardg6983 If I remember correctly, during the last couple months of operation there were only two or three functioning sirens.
Man this beats the Rolling Meadows siren by a long shot!!!
What? Rolling meadows is much more rare. It is dual toned

@@MidwestSirenProductions oh, than that is cool! Still dual toned ones are better. I think this is one of the first ones made...
@@SirensAndAlarmsOfNorthernIL im pretty sure single toned ACA alertronics are much rarer, and yes, i am replying to a 1 yr old comment
Wait a minute. Hasn’t the K-25 facility been dismantled for some time now? Why do they need sirens for it? Kinda curious
It this one of the early models? I heard the early models had the chains for their rotator box and then later on they decided to add collecter rings instead of chains.
Christian was most likely crying tears of joy
So these are actually still in service ? This is nice. I thought they were destined to rot on their pole.
ACA introducing the mossotronic moss-6000M
Finally got to record an allertonic

It was more directional in person for sure. Thanks for being there along this crazy journey lol.
Great video! Glad a close-up video of one of these was finally recorded! Wonder if any of the Alertronic Omnis functions?
Not likely, unfortunately. Thanks though!
This video makes me feel comfortable
This is one of the older analog boards; I can tell from the wind-up.
omg
I've already tried that, but to no avail.
Crap, after it winds down it almost sounds like a large group clapping. Nice video!
Rain.
This one actually sounds good.
its so cool and mossy!
That wind up is creepy
sounds like a thunderbolt
Is the ACA Alertronic your favorite
Is this is one of the loudest right?
Had a long echo too
Awesome!!!
SINGLE TONE?
These sound alot like thunderbolts.
nice fucking catch man! the old saying is true! persistence pays!
Amazing video!
why does it look like a whelen
is it replaced?
YES.
I always thought Alertronic’s were single tone, no windup no wind down. This was somewhat surprising.
Ryan this is single toned
Or I might not know the difference. Oh well...
Ryan it’s fine
This looks like a whelen 4008
well that siren is close than whelen noises its electronic but it better have any messages and shit.
that model fucking rocks.
is that mold that's all over that thing?
moss and dirt
It’s a very humid place.
Looks like the 1 in your profile pic!
Kinda Sounds Like Thunderbolt 1000 C:{
Nice.
ESC-864?
no its not whelen lol
That backdrop almost looks fake. Nice vid!
Like your logo! Great siren test!
Nice!
Dayum

It’s sounds like Rsh-10

And now it's gone
ya hate to see it
YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSS
Very mossy
