    Shermans are one of my favorite kits to build,no matter the model company. Tamiya make kits for all skill of modelers. Good job on the 1/48 Sherman ez8. Thanks Andy.

    I love watching Tamiya kits go together. Makes me long for a time when Tamiya makes more obscure modern vehicles. I'm currently building the Panda M-ATV and my word, what a chore it is. Ill-fitting parts, mold issues, no prompts for drilling etc, parts incorrectly numbered or drawn in the instructions, insufficient number of parts (needs five suspension support arms, there are only 5 in the kit) and a weird system of using about six parts from different sprues to make one small sub-assembly.

    My 1st tamiya kit was back in the 70s . it was the vw swimenwagon 1/ 35 scale . it was small but fun to build . Tanya changed the modeling world forever . they raised the bar and other model companies followed with DETAILED kits .

    I get that 'sizzling' sound when using Tamiya decals, but strangely only for the first couple of decals, if you keep using the same water, then the decals you put in afterwards don't seem to make the same sound? I'd love to know the chemistry behind what is going on with it?

    Andy, Another awesome video build. Looking forward to when this is released. Now you need to get you buddy over at "Value Gear" to build/develop some EZ8 specific stowage. I bought/build the Hobby Boss version...that was a challenge. On those weights, Tamiya typically has plastic brackets to hold them in place as oppose to just glue them in only. Maybe they will add them? This kit will make a great addition to table-top wargaming as you mentioned. Ideally for, "Chain of Command" or even the newly released game called, "What A Tanker". To avoid any track issues with the ground cloth when gaming, mount the model on a small base. Then you add some terrain to really make it stand out on the war-game table.

    I just REALLY wish at least one manufacturer would go back to making kits with interiors. Even if they wanted to sell the interiors separately like they do with PE and other accessories. I loved the old Bandai Line at 1/48th and even the Nitto Kagaku 1/76th scale armor with interiors. Made some fun dioramas with those kinds of kits and details. Work great for game vehicles too.

    Tanks Andy... Damn I had to do it..lol Out of all the Tanks of WWII, Its not the best but the Sherman has to be my favorite. And Andy or anyone else. My Doc. suggested for me to do models to help my patience and concentration. But one thing that will make me put a model through a wall is doing tracks. Where is a good place to get rubber band and or metal tracks from? and do they make them for all different scales?
    Tanks..Oh I mean Thanks.

    • @thekenjistream8683
      @thekenjistream8683 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Technically the Sherman is the best tank of the war.
      It has an armement that was good enough against tanks, infantry and buildings.
      Its armor was more than enough (it had the effective thickness of a Tiger I plus with the sloped armor)
      It was one of the most reliable tanks of the war.
      It was easy to build and maintain.
      Many variants were created from it.

    • @justforfun_ger7137
      @justforfun_ger7137 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      i repeat just what i have hear or ppl which served in the shermans told. i dont want to be offense. ^^
      It gives a try were a rugbie team of 5 guys tries to escape from an normal sherman from inside. The timelimit was lesser as 30 secs 2or 3 came out in time.
      In north Afirca it gaves a situation where a sherman came close to 10 meters on a Tiger (worst case) and only the sherman Tank commander could escape. but i will quit this conversation to enjoy mr. Andys modell building and colouring. ^^

    • @thekenjistream8683
      @thekenjistream8683 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      There's no offense in debating.
      Since they added the hatch for the loader, the Sherman was one of the tanks where it was the easiest and fastest to escape (compared to the Russian or German tanks)

    As a kid I loved building Tamiya models. I started as young as 8 years old. That was close to fifty years ago.
    I am frankly shocked at how expensive the models have become. Thirty six dollars!!! How would an eight year old enthusiast
    afford to get into this hobby? I remember building a new model just about every weekend. No way I could do that today.
    How did the hobby get so expensive????

    • @thekenjistream8683

    A little late to the game, but I want to thank you. I am building a War of the Worlds/WW2 diorama and using this model (also my fav tank) in this scale, it's good to get a visual before getting into the build. Impressed with the detail at this size scale, not so happy with the tracks, but I will probably mod them (they look really tight and uniform??? Any ideas on that?)

    when you use too much thin cement to "glue" something on like the infra-red scanner, and the cement turns into a shiny glimmering patchy area. Once painted over will it still look okay? i used a lot because there were about 3-4 REALLY small points of contact, and a little wouldn't hold it. if pictures are needed I can give a link.
    Edit: W O W that looks good!!!
