The crusader wasn't an inherently bad tank, any tank in the desert has problems. Rommel had problems with his tanks and vehicles on the desert and we're also prone to breakdown. Once up gunned with the 6pdr it could fight toe to toe with the panzer IIIs and IVs the afrika korps were fielding. The thing which gave the crusader the edge was it's range. Cracking build mind
Many engineers and tank experts would agree with you. There's no "perfect" tank but design compromises. Some compromises are worth paying for and others are not. I want to thank you for watching my video and enjoy it. I also want to wish you and your family a happy new year. 😀😀
It's nice to revisit an old kit from the 1980's! We're so spoiled by high tech models today 😄 As a kid of the 80's, these vintage kits remind me of building them with my dad when I was young. Keep up the great work! ❤️
Well, it's great to know that this kit brought you back when your were younger. Some kits I built like this one does the same for me too. I want to wish you and your family a happy new year!
Italeri has some hidden gems! Tamiya has reboxed some of them, some other remain italeri! Great job done Colin, nicely painted and weathered Crusader! Thanks for sharing, take care and keep up the good work my friend!
Hey QDC, I didn't see you uploaded at first... I was here as fast as I could :) I really liked that you added the preface talk a bit longer than normal! Lovely build again, sir!
Great build video of probably one of the better Italeri kits out there. Have built this same kit roughly 10+ years ago, but it was just an Italeri offering. The one thing that I do remember about this kit (at least mine anyway) was that there were NO numbers on the parts trees!!! Yep - NO numbers on the parts trees but there were numbers in the instructions. So, as can imagine, definitely had to study the instructions and match up what I hoped the part looked like on the tree. Have had that same experience on at least 3 other Italeri kits. But one thing have realized: IF there were no numbers on the parts trees then the kit went together without any problems. When the kits had numbers on the trees that is when it felt like a chore to build the kit - still trying to figure that one out. I usually stay away from Italeri kits, but they do have some great subjects.
Thanks for watching my video. You know, I built an older Panzer One kit from the 1980's and you're right. I don't remember seeing any numbers on the sprues. I guess it can be more fun building a kit with less instructions. 😀😀
Thank you for your kind words. This classic kit withstood the test of time. I'm building another classic kit from Tamiya. It's their Willys Jeep. I'm building it as a post WWII civilian car. The WWII Jeep was my very first WWII vehicle I ever rode in and I'm going to try to re-create that vehicle looking like a civilian car painted yellow. I hope you'll find time in your busy life to watch it. Take care 😀😀
I look forward to that build , I have Tamiya 's jeep built and ready for painting. My father drove one during WWII. But unfortunately, it is in storage as I am moving. So I have time to enjoy your projects.👍
Great paint job it looks good I like the dusty look it makes it look realistic so as always all the best from here in the UK stay safe and happy modeling
My wife, wanted me to ask how is your cat.? I would like to adopt a full blooded German Shepherd, and name him Rommel. Again happy new year to you and your's. Ps. I'm working on Tamiya Famo with trailer, it's a forever project.
The Crusader MK III is one of my Favorite Tanks. These Tanks was very fast. For the German Tank Crews was these Tanks feared. Because when the British Army comes, they came with many of them. And that was the Point. They was fast, had a Good Gun and a Good Crew. I build two of these Tanks. The first is in Standard Green, and the other one is painted in Sand Yellow with Brown Camouflage.
As always, an interesting build with excellent results! This one's in my stash. Tanks aren't really my forte but this is a favourite type so............. Thanks for the upload 👍
Another beautifully detailed and weathered model of yours... :) :) I like the battle damage and the dust effect.. Very good! Will you put it in a diorama?? :)
Don't know if this common knowledge. But when I built a tank model I would use a number 2 pencil, leead, on painted areas where high foot traffic would wear away the paint. Rubbing lead would leave a dark, but rubbing that with a finger would leave what looks dull steel surface. I didn't have any way of adding rust on the lead to give a less frequent foot traffic.
Hello Collin, happy new year for you and family and thank you for this vidéo. Excellent, do you make it ,tunisia diorama? Dont forget, kiss the cat. jean-luc
Back when I was building WWII model tanks, I stayed with early WWII in N. Africa. There was the Matilda, M3 Stuart, Lee and Grant and early Sherman. I wanted or actually wished more British tank models were a ailable. Now , too old, " shakey hands".
You're never too old to enjoy this hobby. Take your time and enjoy it. In my opinion, it's not the finished product that counts but your enjoyment building it. Take care 😀😀
What do you use for shooting the videos? I've wanted to do one also for a long time, but my problem is that my phone cannot store hours of footage, I think. Do you film for hours also, or do you take snapshots?
Nice Crusader...I allways was fall in Love with Tamiya models...
Thanks!
I haven't even finished watching the video and I know its going to be good 😀
Thanks for your kind words. I hoped you enjoyed it.

The italeri tank kit line of the 70's was way ahead of their time, the kits are still reasonable today over 50 years later and nice build QDC .
Thank you. Italeri makes good model kits that stood the test of time!

well done Q great to see you going in 2023!!greetings out of Europe !
Thank you for watching! 😀😀
That is a model on my list of builds for later. I have built one in the past and was a very enjoyable build.
Don't ever stop building!
If you built this before, then building it again is well worth it! It's an enjoyable kit to build. Thanks for watching. 😁😁

Thank you for watching my video. The Crusader tank is a good tank for it's day and I tried my best to give this model some justice. 😀😀 Take care.
Painting work is top notch! Enjoy your models you assemble 👍👍
Thank you for watching! I honestly appreciate it. I want to wish you and your family a happy new year. 😁😁
@@qdc748a thanks :)
Excellent build Colin . I particularly liked your shading technique , it really gave the finished colour depth and realism 😃👍
Thanks. I gotten better at doing this technique. 😀😀
Thanks qdc, great build and I really appreciated the little nuggets of information, too. 👍
You're welcome! 😀😀

You're very welcome. I plan to upload another video by this week. I'm doing a Hobby Boss Leopard Two tank in honor of Ukraine.

Thanks. Probably not, I have some other subjects that I would like to see as a diorama instead. Thanks for watching!!!

Using an ordinary lead pencil is an older technique that's effective. I should use that on my future project. Thanks. 😀😀
Nice build really looks good!
Thank you!
Happy New year QDC for you and your family ! It's a beautiful model with nice details . Cheers !
Thank you for your kind words. I also want to wish you and your family a happy new year 2023! 😀😀
Nice model qdc!im looking forward to build this model!your video just in time!!
Have a good week!!
Thanks Emil. You won't regret building this kit. It's very enjoyable 😀😀
@@qdc748a thank you..
Even with the issues in the desert, the Crusader still looks like it could single handedly take Jerusalem in one day
Great build, as usual. 👍
Thank you! I want to wish you and your family a happy new year.
Very nice build. Love your videos!!
Thank you, John 😀😀
Great start of the new year! Nicely built kit QDC, only missing a slight pin wash. Other than that a very cool build 🏅
Thank you. 😁😁

I use an ordinary digital camera. I pre-plan my shots as if I was a movie director. Then after it's all finished, I take photos.
Qdc what kind of airbrush do you use?
Im using sparmax dh-103 and fengda 130-k
I'm using a very old Paache Model H airbrush. It's old but very dependable and versatile.
Very interesting!never heard about this model of airbrush!hope it keep working a long time!
Good luck!
well yes hope you and butter have a great MMXXIII and the kits looikng great not bd job and last you poast it wil asee it lets moba
