I'm asking myself the same thing sisi. Where are these guys. Do they move on and forget their children. My ex boyfriend left with no reservation. No regret. Thank God my child is not into drugs, but Ex failed us. He continues to.
The fathers are hibernating somewhere, just waiting for the kid to finish school or just about to finish, and they will show their faces knowing that now they won't have to take care of the child anymore since they are now all grown up
Most father's are absent, the present ones are very tough when coming to drugs and bad behaviour, so they give the kids tough love whereas as mother's we still one walk this journey with them. I've been there, my son was addicted to weed, he had 3 major drug induced psychotic episodes. The 2nd episode he was admitted at Rand Clinic, the ward had mixed race, blacks, whites, Indians, coloureds, Christians, Muslims, Hindus etc. All fighting same battle, drugs. During visiting hours, you only see mother's coming to check on them but not father's, why? Some are absent and some it's just black and white no grey area. You wanna be a child in my house, you obey my rules or get out of my house
Maybe the mothers left the fathers because the fathers were too strict, too serious, too many rules. It ONE of the reasons of course, other fathers were just nonsense or abusive ect. Theres many reasons, its better to treat the situations individually and ask the mothers, not make generalizations.
Weed & hubly is a gateway to a lot of drugs, don't take it lightly the moment you find out your child is using it. Dakalo's story is a reality of a lot of families and it's so draining. she is such a strong mother. I'm so happy her daughter is finally at a safe place
So true I don't understand why parents permit their kids to smoke hubbly even. God gave parents a responsibility to take care of their own, some situations are unforeseeable but we are to protect our kids as parents.
I don’t mean any disrespect but as an ex addict there is no such thing as an entry drug. Addiction is a mental disease and the problem with our community is we blame other things but really it’s a mental illness. This why I also hate the statement black women are strong, all that must stop. It probably explains why she got worse after she lost her bf, grief will eat you alive, if you don’t have a strong mind or support system around you, you will have no problem meeting death too. I’m grateful coz my mom is a social worker and the way my family negated the situation helped me face my demons and ultimately understand what exactly what I was grieving. I’m not saying weed and hubly are good just that there is more to it than just that. Like she said most addicts have this fascination with spirituality (sangoma part) it’s coz they constantly looking for an escape and most don’t even know what they are running from anymore because of the drugs numbing effect but with therapy there is nothing God cannot do!
I’m a 21 year old trying to navigate this life thing and yoh I’ve never cried like this ,listening to this beautiful lady talk about everything she’s going through just makes my heart break and just seeing how she’s not giving up on her daughter is so heartwarming.I really am praying for my peers we really indulge in things that just open gate for other things .Love and light to mammie really praying for her I hope her daughter heals 🥺And can we as the young ones be a positive example to our younger peers
Strength to you mommy Just please remember to give some attention to your little one as well...i really don't know how you will do it because older daughter is taking so much of your time but your little one also needs you as well.
What a touching podcast. Thanks, Mama, for the courage to share your story and for not giving up on your daughter. Thanks to Promise for offering to contribute towards the rehab fee. May I request that you don't go to the rehab and not even interview at all because it will make her more vulnerable. In the future, she might struggle to get a job, for instance, or being in a relationship because of her past online. This story is enough. You can just do a follow-up after rehab and find out from her mum how the experience has been.
I'm here for Dakalo's courage, tenacity, determination, and, of course, her beauty. I pray that come January 2025, her daughter will be clean and ready to pick up the pieces of her life.

Our system has failed us long time ago and if they find you locking the child indoors you'll be arrested. Yoh it's a joke, kanti why kumele ilizwe lethu life kabuhlungu kangaka?
As someone who works with both children and adults battling substance addiction, I totally understand your point. However, it’s very difficult to work with someone who is being forced to go to a rehabilitation facility. The inpatient treatment program consists of therapy sessions which require a lot of commitment from the client. You can use various techniques such as motivational interview as a therapist but if the client is not interested, the sessions will not be that effective. There’s a model that we make reference to when helping our clients which is called the change model which has about 5 stages. It’s very difficult to work with a client that is in the first stage where the client does not see anything wrong with their behaviour.

Kids are on drugs, all kids of drugs
Like black families are being destroyed in front of our eyes 😢😢
This should've been a 2 part interview, my heart goes out for this mother ❤
The random party planning banners while the video was discussing drugs and possible sex trafficking was a little distasteful. Let’s save them for more lighthearted topics.
A banner for a rehab centre or a helpline would’ve been better for this episode because it’s such a sensitive topic.
i agree
As a mother…. You did the best you could have done. Do never ever feel like you could have done anything better. Life could not have prepared you for this…. You’re an amazing mom and you have and continued to do your best.
Dakalo is such an exceptional mother. She doesnt make this about her and the type of parent she is or isn't. She doesn't sound like she's given up on her child.
I hope people tell her that she's truly one of the best mothers I've encountered. Also her ability to empathize with her daughter's pain and loss. What a woman
Also Promise needs to stop forcing English, I mean you don't transform your life 360°, this would mean that you get to the same point by the way
Well done Dakalo. Your story is encouraging a lot . All the best to Girl at Rehab

So pray that church will do what they say "they are known for". Asifuni ukuva ukuthi she was more abused there, if Kuba njalo please let us know sizoziyela ngokwethu. Also concerned about their fees, so pray that they don't say "we can't release her until you pay what is due" ey abantu bayadlala ngezingane zabantu la ngaphandle in the name of "saving and healing".
I just pray!
No visit in 3 weeks and then one visit in a month, I might be wrong.
And you were not wrong.
