I just want to take a second to show some appreciation for the dude playing football AND being a drum major, I couldnt imagine as an adult going to work and playing a sport and being in a band, I miss that teenage energy 😅

I love this little American subculture we got with black marching bands, it has its own unique roots that blend backgrounds and experiences together. subcultures like these, make this country so beautiful

Justin is now with Alabama University . I watched the band March for the Mardi Gras the whole three hours I was captivated. One by one will see people leaving to go take a break Justin never left. He stayed at command the entire time through the rain. I think the song 🎶 is powerful with the brass section , the drums, clarinet and let’s not forget the beautiful women my Lord are gorgeous.
He represents his school well. All drum majors, band members, majorettes, flag girls must try out for their spots. Nothing is given. He earned leader and he looks great 👏🏾. So does the other Drum majors. Applauds to the band teacher giving him an opportunity to compete.
Elisa George Exactly. He is human just like the others. Unfortunately, not everything in the real world thinks and functions that way. Some people look at the color of someone’s skin and treat them differently or don’t give them certain opportunities. Take a look at University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill. They got sued a few years ago for having a track record of accepting large amounts of white students and denying many minorities that had better grades and transcripts than some of the people who did get accepted. In this case, not many people would even think that a white boy would be able to do what he’s doing in an activity that is a majority of people of different ethnicities. He’s good at what he does and he also has other great talented people around him.

I recently stumbled over this video and I just can’t stop watching more performances of this young man Justin Heideman. His commitment to excellence in his craft is astounding. The entire band is extraordinary and far, far beyond anything one would ever expect from high schoolers. Humans are so incredibly beautiful and magical when they find the place where their talents and passions come into alignment.
I have never been so proud to see a young white man leading a marching band and be so cold. Go head young man. Keep doing your thing. God Bless this entire beautiful group of young people. Loved every minute of it

Color barriers have been broken for ages. Florida A & M has had many white members in it's marching band for over a century. Young people just want to perpetuate the myth that things like racism has only started with them.
In 1965, I was a 'Hinds Hi-Stepper' at Hinds Jr. College in MS., one of the oldest precision dance lines in the U.S. and is still in operation. It was THE hardest I have ever worked in my life! Ms. Anna Bee was our director and helped teach the Radio City Rockettes. It was a blast, but exhausting!🦵

The marching bands from HBCU'S perform many moves brought to America from Africa. Same with the stepping done by Black Sororities and Fraternities, which goes back more than 400 years. It doesn't get more historical than that.
That's why I love my black people. We're willing to give people a chance based on their skill and not oppress and hold someone back simply because of the color of their skin.

This perfectly shows that show band perfection is so athletic, the band includes football players in uniform performing. Band practice keeps them in shape for football.
I am literally 40 years out of high school marching band. I play percussion, and it's a joy to watch a well directed and trained marching band, even if it's in a discipline distinctly different from what I was trained/drilled in. THis is a great band!
I'm halfway through the time you've been, it's been almost 20 years since I graduated high school but man I sill miss marching band, it was the highlight of my youth. My school was corp-style but I always had an admiration for the show-style such as this band. I think both styles have their own set of skills and difficulties that are admirable and yes this is a great band.
I attended a HBCU and was in the band as a dancing doll 💃!! I swear this band is so awesome like a college band. Mad respect to all of these young people may ALL of you have a bright & prosperous future!!!!!!

It is amazes me that complimenting this young man of a different race is considered "caping for white people". The boy is good as are the young black brothers. No more, no less. And I very much have self pride and proud of my race, which is why I am able to compliment someone else of another race without feeling that I am subtracting from myself or my people. Good job to them all! These comments are so unreal. I love being black, but sometimes I think alot of us find an issue with every damn thing. Some things are not as deep as we make them sometimes geesh!

This is what color blind truly looks like - amazingly beautiful. I am blown away by the music, the energy of all the kids, and that boy in the lead.
I’m so proud of him for breaking color barriers and representing well. Marching bands are big in the South and these DM’s are amazing. I was surprised to see they were in High School! I am a fan of Justin!!!
Color barriers have been broken for ages. Florida A & M has had many white members in it's marching band for over a century. Young people just want to perpetuate the myth that things like racism has only started with them.

In 1965, I was a 'Hinds Hi-Stepper' at Hinds Jr. College in MS., one of the oldest precision dance lines in the U.S. and is still in operation. It was THE hardest I have ever worked in my life! Ms. Anna Bee was our director and helped teach the Radio City Rockettes. It was a blast, but exhausting!🦵

Went to step shows my whole life, was on dance team & nobody cared what color nobody was!!! @@ericgu9036 Since 1837 when Cheyney University in PA became the first HBCU established because Black students were refused to be admitted to predominantly White colleges due to racial discrimination. The marching bands from HBCU'S perform many moves brought to America from Africa. Same with the stepping done by Black Sororities and Fraternities, which goes back more than 400 years. It doesn't get more historical than that.

This perfectly shows that show band perfection is so athletic, the band includes football players in uniform performing. Band practice keeps them in shape for football.
I am literally 40 years out of high school marching band. I play percussion, and it's a joy to watch a well directed and trained marching band, even if it's in a discipline distinctly different from what I was trained/drilled in. THis is a great band!
I'm halfway through the time you've been, it's been almost 20 years since I graduated high school but man I sill miss marching band, it was the highlight of my youth. My school was corp-style but I always had an admiration for the show-style such as this band. I think both styles have their own set of skills and difficulties that are admirable and yes this is a great band.
I attended a HBCU and was in the band as a dancing doll 💃!! I swear this band is so awesome like a college band. Mad respect to all of these young people may ALL of you have a bright & prosperous future!!!!!!

What I love about this is you can tell he does it because he loves what he does and his band. It’s not about him nor should it be. It’s about the entire band. There is cohesion because there is respect. They’re great for the right reasons. An example for many.
