I sincere, heartfelt thank you for taking the extraordinary effort to post these videos. I successfully replaced my heater core this weekend and frankly, could not have done it without these videos. You saved me over $1000 in mechanic costs. And thank you to your kids for holding the camera! Again, thank you!
I know this video series is old, but it is very helpful. I changed my wifes heater core on a '99 Jeep GC WJ and this helped tremendously. Thanks for posting.
Excellent step by step video👍🏿 Just did this with my son on the right side and me on the left- on my pristine 01 Grand Cherokee(4.0) Leaking evap core but new heater core while we were in this deep. Took us 8 hours but could do my next one in 3-4 hours-hahaha Thank you!
I found your video's last night. I pulled my dash out to replace my heater core today. The heater core is in and the box is re-installed, I will put the dash and seats back in tomorrow (removed them for convenience and room. ) I wanted to say THANK YOU VERY MUCH!!! This really helped me tackle the job correctly, and you pointed out bolts that I know would have really frustrated me (the one above the brake pedal that you remove from below. Thanks for taking the time to put this together!
Thank you for the great job of your daughters and you for this video it really help me a lot my jeep is a 2001, and it covered about 90% of what I had to do, you only missed the side of the engine but I figured out, without your video I couldn't fixed my car. Thanks a lot.
@iheartmyrappy My Grand Cherokee is a 2002 model. The navigation system is a factory RB1 nav unit that I installed, but it is not touchscreen; you navigate the screens through either a knob and pair of buttons on the unit, or using the steering-wheel controls.
I appreciate you taking the time to do this vid...I think I'm gonna give it a go. It's starting to get cold here and I'd like to use my heater. I need to replace the heater core. I think this was a terrible design. Having to take the entire dashboard assembly off is terrible. Thanks for the instructions.
@bmxican7140 That just involves removing the bezel around the stereo (I believe it pops off), and removing the screws holding in the unit and disconnecting the plugs on the back. Five minutes, vs. five hours.
@THISISITTISISIHT No, not at all. To remove the stereo head-unit, you just need to remove the trim fascia around the stereo (I believe it just pries out), and then you'll see the four screws holding the head-unit in. Then it's just unplugging the back and installing the new unit.
The blower-resistor is at the very bottom of the housing, under the passenger-side dashboard. You do not need to go through the glovebox. In fact, it is rather vulnerable, as a passenger with long legs could kick the wiring-connector on that resistor, accelerating its failure. It's held to the bottom of the box by two screws, and the connector should come off once you depress the locking tab (if it hasn't already melted into the resistor housing cover).
faaaaaantastic, thanks a lot for this video im going to do mine tomorrow. if there are any steps missed please let me know. but once again thank you and thanks to your daughters to produce this great video
@shockracer Without trying to videotape it, I would say it takes about two hours to get everything off, and an hour to get everything back on. Add in whatever time it's going to take to replace the parts in the dash that you need to do. I'd recommend doing the heater-core, A/C evaporator and blend-doors all at the same time, even if they haven't failed yet, at they will, and you'll double your labor-time doing the job all over again. And it's mainly just picky, time-consuming work.
Thanks for the great descriptions (and for the great filming job by your daughters). Does the steering wheel just relax back onto the drivers seat for the rest of this?
bbsbcv with the blend door being bad with the fan still work because I have a 2000 jeep grand Cherokee and I ran the diagnostics and it came up right blend door but my fan doesn't work either. I'm confused and would like your help
I am completely stuck on pressing the latch inside of the dash on the passenger side, where the glove compartment is. None of the videos on youtube show the exact piece that needs to be pushed down with the crowbar!!! Please help.
I was gonna open my dash to run some RCA cables, but after watching this, I'm convinced to just get creative.

Thanks Dr Bob. This video is complete and concise. I am grateful for your efforts.

Outstanding job detailing such a complicated process in a very straightforward and easy to follow manner. This was tremendously helpful. THANK YOU!
If you are somehow reading this 11 years later, you saved my friend and me a solid couple hours wiring in some light bars
Glad to hear it helped!
Mad Skills, you are truly blessed.Very good and informative.Thank You

Oh God this happened to me and after I removed the resistor my battery has since started draining

Why is there a rope attached to the handle of his drill motor? Either its for easy retrieval if dropped or this was recorded in the 50s!
Bonjour, merci à vous de bien vouloir faire aussi des vidéos en français, merci beaucoup pour la démonstration

What exact year is this Jeep? And is the touchscreen navigation system stock? Thanks for the help, Jake
The steering removal not in the video? Seems like a crucial step or is it already loose ?
how long did this fix take you? is it just time consuming or is it just a pain in the ass?
thx for the vid's!

@Stangalang81 Sorry; just the removal video. Installation is literally the reverse of removal. Can you play a TH-cam video in reverse?
Can you help me out I have a jeep compass and I wanna change d stereo but I don't know from where to pull it
great help!!!! good job
Thank you kind sir for this upload that made a daunting job very doable! Where can I mail you a donation check?
Glad it helped!
@denissedinar No, unfortunately I can't help you out, as I don't own a Compass.
No; it is removed entirely.
Should I go out and buy rubber gloves too? Cuz ya know the inside is just real dirty and greasy
LOL, step 3 went horribly wrong for me, though at time of this video release, my truck has had 12 more years of sun beating on it.
Much easier in the old cherokee's. The ones before the 96 revamp
