  • Covers replacement of the Blend Doors on a 2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee. This is the Australian model, so slightly different to the American models. I'd seen a few guides around and wanted to do one based on my experience.
    I used a RUKSE Blend Door kit bought off Ebay for the replacement.

    Great video. Just bought a kit off ebay and fixed my no heating problem on a 2000 Grand Cherokee V8. Thank you for the insight just saved myself 800 quid compared to quote i received and all i bought was the kit and a 32 quid Dremel that i will no doubt use again

    Great video Andrew, many thanks 10/10.
    I did a UK Jeep Grand Cherokee using the aluminium blend door kit available on eBay. Top tips,
    - spend the extra £10 for the aluminium drive shaft with the kit
    - put a good amount of time aside: fiddly doesn't come near it
    - have a lot of patience to hand: I had to re-set the drive shafts several times to get them to align correctly (the original blend door broke for a reason)
    - use a soldering iron to tack 'weld' the divider and end plates in place before sealing with duck tape, makes it much easier

      Hi Alan, I cant seem to find the aluminum blend doors on ebay, would you mind posting a link? I am wanting the twin doors rather than the single door style so as to keep the split dual air. The only ones I can find have one hinge aluminum and one hinge plastic? Thanks for your help.

    I just did this with my WJ. Passenger side blend door failed, original factory blend doors. Got the blend door kit. I used a soldering iron to cut through the plastic. No debris to fly around and was a cleaner cut. Plus you don't have to worry as much to puncture the heater core with a blade or drill bit in my opinion.

    Wow this is amazing! I had a 99 Grand Cherokee Limited and its dual climate control was messed up after only 4 years. just after the factory warranty expired. The passenger side was stuck on AC all the time. My girlfriend at the time was pissed! The only fix back in 04-05 was to remove the entire dash and several places quoted me around $1000! Well I said screw that I just traded that bitch in. It turned me off to Jeep and Dodge for years. Also their power window regulators are crap.But thanks to youtube videos I can now see how easy they are to replace. Sigh...

  • @miketlane

    i go the kit off ebay, after cutting it open i found the passenger side was already replaced with an aluminum one and still had a plastic one on the drivers side. must have been a dealership "if it any broke dot fix it so we can charge twice" repair. anyway the passenger side controller was broke off in the aluminum door. only 2 ways to fix that. pull the dash and box or what i did, i glued the 2 new doors together and just made it a single operation

  • @tonydorton5224
    @tonydorton5224 8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    This looks very simple. I like the demo. I was a little concerned when you didn't replace the center wall. I would believe the center wall would affect the climate control for both sides of the passenger compartment. That is obviously why it was put there. Otherwise, the video is great.

    • @andrewmorris2240
      @andrewmorris2240  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Tony Dorton You are correct it does effect the climate control. I have seen/read some people repair the wall but as you could imagine it would be a bit tricky using this method of blend door repair. It comes down to how much it bothers you, most of the time I am on my own in the Jeep so I don't need the split zone heating/cooling.

  • @rabidhobo561
    @rabidhobo561 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Jgc parts makes the same thing that I’m going to try, but it’s cheaper to buy the blend doors that are not for the dual zone climate control system if you’re not going to bother to tape the middle piece back on. If you don’t care about having the same heat on either side.

    Think this is the problem with my Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo ( 2001 ) it sounds like ti's running full blast and cold but weak air flow through the vents

    • @SuperSharpBlue
      @SuperSharpBlue 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Usually that is caused by air leaks in the ducts, not the blend doors. The vents under the radio typically lose their insulation foam and can be corrected using foil duct tape between the vents and the HVAC housing.

    I completely understand how it's done however, I'm a senior and don't have the strength nor the dexterity anymore as I once did when i was younger to do it myself. Trying to get the Garage mechanics in town to use this method is a dead end. They all know the short cut to accomplish this and get mad that I know what is entailed in doing this job. However, they want to make a big production out of the job in order to charge huge dollar amounts. They get mad when I say it shouldn't be more than 90 minutes for the job and tearing the whole dash apart is uneeded. They call this method "rube Goldberg's" method and refuse to take on the job. . I think I'll approach an autobody shop to see if they'll do it.

    man ... i thought it was my blend doors for sure but just cut it open, took them out and there fine ..i mean there old and have gone all yellow but no cracks or anything and i observed them and they go fully up and down wtf else could it be stopping my heat? I've checked the heater hoses for blockages and there fine too?.... i got the RHD Australian 2000 Limited WG model and if your thinking wtf do i need a heater for in Australia well i live in the snowy mountains and its fu*kin cold haha

      ***** Nah the kit I purchased off ebay was from a US seller and is compatible with both the WJ and WG models so I don't think there is any difference as far as steering wheel side is concerned. However it is probably worth hunting around for a kit that has two metal hinges instead of one metal and one plastic like the one I bought. Fingers crossed the plastic hinge doesn't disintegrate like the original ones. :)

      I don't think it happens to ones with single zone as much, because single zone moves as one whole piece and dual moves separately putting stress on the plastic, and eventually it'll break. Which is why they make metal ones now
