They have 2 mash bills for bourbon at beam. Old grand Dad and basil Hayden are the high rye and bookers knob creek and bakers are the low rye.
I have a lot of older episodes to catch up on. Ran across this one and had to watch. I love Knob Creek Store Picks, but KC 12 is one of my favorite bourbons currently. I keep 3 on the shelf, so I do not run out. 😊

Yeah, I passed on the $90 Bookers and bought TWO ($45) incredible KC 15 year 120 proof store picks that are *WAY BETTER* than any Bookers at any price....then went back and bought 2 more!
is there pricing not the most confusing thing? and why do the SiB's have a small batch label? buzz word marketing.
For $45??? The 12 year is Msrp $59 bucks. No way you paid $45 for 15 year store picks.

I love the Knob Creek 12 yr. For the price it's a good buy. $50 in my area. Lots of flavor. Good proof point.
Haven’t met a knob creek product I don’t like. But... the Russell’s is the bar to reach. Turkey products are hard to beat
They are both so great. The 2 best inexpensive bourbons, and not overly sweet like Buffalo Trace or Early Times BiB
My favorite Knob Creek selection. Always have a backup on hand. Glad to see it becoming more available in my area!
I’ll take Single Barrel Reserve 9 year and Store Picks over the 12 year all day. The 12 year is good, but it ain’t worth the price for me since it wasn’t as oak heavy or Beam nutty to me.

I paid $80 😂. I wanted Ezra 7 but it was $75 might as well pay five bucks more for five more years.
I finally came across a bottle of this today. It’s great that the price is still $60. I know this review was about a year ago, so I’m hoping this release is similar. Looking forward to giving it try.

I just bought this tonight.....it's good, but Booker's Country Ham is the jam. However, the price difference is enough to where the value of this bourbon really stands out.

Your not wrong about the wax its the worst, but the knob creek small batch kentucky bourbon is my new favourite for the Irish coffees next level
Thanks guys - I needed an escape today. Haven't been to the ABC store recently, so I'll use this as an excuse to break away.
Always preferred many alternatives to KC but a buddy (who loves KC) got me one of these for my birthday. Sat on it for a month and then, spent five minutes cleaning up my bar and floor from the 1,000 pieces the wax broke into! Everything changed after I sipped. Never had a nose and pallet be so far from each other
Hahaha so accurate on the wax, and agree 100000% on the nose and palate being disjointed.
Love this stuff, it’s delicious. It opens up even better than the neck pour you got.
Side note: I always give you guys grief for the cat because I hate cats, but that was a pretty cool shot in the intro

This started showing up in my town a few months ago. Super into it. I'll take this over a Basil or Russell's Reserve any day.
This is good but it isn't as good as a Russell's Reserve Single Barrel unless you really like spicy oak.

Man, I thought it was way too oaky. I absolutely would prefer the 9 year single barrel. But taste is a very subjective thing.
I like the way Beam Suntory keeps tweaking and experimenting with their barrels..
marketing I guess but its good for the industry as a whole ... itd be cool to have a jim beam wild turkey blend.

Don't care for the standard KC offering but was favored a bottle of the 9 year from a friend and it was fantastic. I don't want the next bottle of KC to disappoint. Still on the fence for trying the 12 year.
I'd say try the 12, it's 60? Worth in our opinion
I just came across a bottle of this a couple days ago. This review being over 2 years old, I'm hoping it has a similar palette profile. I'm looking forward to opening it up now.

@@laxmitty21 Really good. I tried it against the KC 18 (sample I got), and while the 18 is better, I think there's more value in the 12. The 18 isn't so significantly better than the 12 that it's worth 5x the price (unless you can find it for retail). But yeah, the 12 is great! 🙂 Hope you enjoy it!

I really enjoy the KC 12, but man, I have a hard time with it at at $60, especially when I finally got my hands on an older pick for $46.
Tried the 12 year and it is very good . Also on my second 9 year store pick. Still have not seen 15 year store picks in my area.
Booker's was raised to $99.99 in Michigan. I actually like Booker's, but I don't think it's worth $100

Im looking foward to trying this. You could have compared this to bakers or even, perhaps, an Elijah Craig barrel proof (obviously a bit bifferent).
So 12 year at 100 proof @ $60 or 9 year SiB at 120 proof @ $45?
I’d had some of those SiB that were 12-15 years, but at 120 proof I feel like they’d have to be better than the current 100 proof offerings.

My local liquor store has had bottles of Bookers sitting there for awhile. Knob creek 12 shows up the other day, they were all gone by close. I was able to grab one!! SCORE!!

Usually drink about 1/2 bottle of bourbon a day. I live in Canada, so I don’t think we have the selection as you do in the states. Usually drink Wild Turkey, Buffalo Trace, Maker’s Mark, Woodfords and Old Prospector. After watching you guys, I think I’m doing it wrong. Any advice.

The SiB's which are 120 proof are 9yrs old, and typically in the $45 range for a standard (non-store pick). Which would you rather?
The 12. Just like the easier going pallet more, little more sweetness in it too.
Bourbon Junkies regardless of the price difference? Beam seems all over the place in price point. I picked up Batch 5 of the 2001 edition for $79, it’s 14+yrs old....

I'm in Australia and bourbon prices and availability get weird. Russell's Reserve is easy to find and costs $75AUD ($49USD) but the only Knob Creek we can get is the 9 or rye and it costs $95AUD ($72USD) ... I want to get one knob creek for my shelf, is it worth spending the $72 for the 9 or bite the bullet and order the 12 (or any other you recommend) with $40 shipping from the US. Only want one knob creek, what do you guys think?
I don't think the 12 is going to be worth the up charge to get. I think overall the 12 is better, but not if you're going to have to pay well in excess of $100 for it.

I mean most of our favorite bottles are bottled in Bond, I don't consider 50% that low either, but enjoy whatever ya want.
I'm not sure what you guys were drinking. I picked up a bottle, there is 0 sweetness, 0 frulit or development. Just Oak and alchol and maybe a bit of a nut note. Worst whisky I've every tried.

KC 12 is $60 in Maine. I enjoyed it. Honestly, those KC Sib store pix are amazing, but alas none in Maine

Not sure why anyone would buy this if they could get 120 proof, 15 year, Knob Creek store picks for $50. I guess if you could not find a store pick....but again I doubt you could find this either in that case.

Damn that's hard. I think all of them honestly. They all have their time and place, 1920 is classic bourbon done well. 1910 is a dessert and 12 year is a nice balance of sweet nuttiness.
