      It revs like that because of weight. There is no clutch or torque converter to spin, only a very light flexplate. A stock small block on a stand would rev similar to this.

    Never seen SBC stainless steel heads before… ain’t it sweet how quick they rev with just a flex-plate, no weight or accessories to slow it down.

    I run a dz302 in my nova (video on my channel) and it makes decent power, but I regret not building a stroker or even a 355. I have to run 112 in it as well as a 3800 converter. I’ve recently installed a 200-4R with a art carr 3500 9.5” lockup converter and it’s much more streetable. But I miss the low end torque of the bigger cubic inch motors I’ve owned in the past. Lol it IS pretty awesome to pull up to a show and zing 7500 and fill the place with tasty VP fumes tho. Cool video btw

      I have a DZ in my Camaro, and I'll soon be pulling it out for a stroker. It is no fun to drive in town since it has no power under 3000 RPM. Winding it up to 7500 RPM in the country is fun, but I want low end torque.

    I know this is an old post and im not trying to take any credit away from this guys engine but i have to share this. When i was maybe 10 i witnessed some bullshit. Someone we knew had a 73 nove with a 307 in it that ran perfect (not much power but ran perfect). Well, this guy that owned the nova wanted a 350 for more power. A guy down the street had a 350 on the engine stand all painted up real purty like and nova guy bought it because it would rev quick(just like the engine in this video. Well he bought it and pulled the 307 out of the nova (which my dad bought to put in his 67 k10 cst Pickup which i still have). I will just say this. The nova was a pos from that day on and dad ended up with a damned good engine just because some shady asshole had a purty engine with only a flex plate on it.

    Forget the myth that a small engine or one with a short stroke is somehow more responsive than a larger engine of the same type this is NOT true.... How can it not be true? Say you have this engine and a 454 inch small block Chevy. Both of them are about the same compression ratio etc, both cranks, rods and pistons weigh about the same amount but the 454 has 150 more cubic inches pushing the same amount of inertia. Result, larger not smaller engine changes speed more rapidly. Check out 454 small block idle and rev to see for yourself. That engine isn't just turning a flexplate but also a dyno drive plate and absorber as well.

      Street Lethal The way he's phrased it is the tiniest bit confusing. I understand what a "2.02, angle plug" is. but following that with "stainless steel heads" is what caught my attention. It's as if he's referring to the entire head casting as being made of stainless steel, rather than some component of the head assembly. Language can be imprecise. This seems to be an example of that.

    I have ridden behind a 307 in a Camaro, Let em tell ya, it weren’t slow, sluggish, or quiet. It’d do 40 foot tire smokes with both tires....4 spd trans. M21 or m22. 20+ years ago. In my opinion, idle to 4000rpm is torque, 4000 to 8000 is horsepower. Kids dad built the car, claimed 400hp.....who knows? At drag strip it’d do 13.00 flat. I’m guessing hp was closer to 350.

      andrew rey. With a 4.30" bore and a 3" stroke crank it would be 307ish cubic inches. With a 3.25" stroke crank and a 4.30 bore you would get 332 ci. The 302 chevy has a tiny stroke and a big bore.

    OK so I've never seen a Ford 302 with headers that appear to be coming of a 350 small block Chevy head setup. Looks like a small block Chevy to me not w Ford. And it's orange? Somethings saying Chevy to me. But whatever what do I know...

    You put the rest of that together with a transmission hanging off the back of it and guess what ? That funny little throttle crack you do you won't be able to do anymore the ONLY reason you can do it is because you have NOTHING connected to the back of the motor ...

      Rear end, gears, gears, gears.
      When that pressure plate, clutch disc., that input shaft, then that 90 wt. Gear oil, dragging load on motor, that little pussyass motor will sound like a newborn puppy.
      Jerk those valve covers off, I want to see those stud girdles, roller rockers,triple valve springs, those guide plates,those screw in studs,those chrome Molly pushrods plus .250 .where is those titanium retainers and keepers. Are the valves stainless 2.02 and 1.60 1 piece hi flows? Little cam ain't shitt. SHOW ME 11OOO OR 12000 RPM.most tachs only show 8000 or 9000 max. Get you a 12000 tach and then let her rip.

      307 is a 3.25 stroke(AKA 327 crank) and 3.875 bore(AKA 283)

    • @robertjohnson4401
      @robertjohnson4401 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      This would be a 4" bore, 3" stroke 302 bored 0.030 over to 307. The one you don't want is the 3.875x3.25 307. The larger bore, shorter stroke gives you the higher RPM.
