Great. SDS is so a simple construccion. That's why it has to be patented. A big hug to the person who invented this!! And so many years we worked without SDS! Great
Thanks! You managed to show more in the first 10 seconds than most youtubers do in 10 minutes!
Great video.Thanks of Serbia.
Brill thank you so much, I bought a drill with bit stuck in, managed to disassemble it, someone had been there before put it back together wrongly, they had the cup facing.
I never though of the ball going inside the cup, no wonder the ball jumped out.
great it now works, I will be contacting you for some spare parts.
Thanks very much for this video. I managed to follow it and repair my SDS chuck.
Excellent tutorial, very well explained! Many thanks from Italy 🇮🇹

You helped me save a BAUER 1-1/8 In. SDS Variable Speed Pro Rotary Hammer.
Glad it helped! Check out our channel for more guides, reviews and demos 😁
Thank you so much. All I wanted was a demonstration of how to fit a drill bit into my newly purchased SDS drill. This did the job beautifully and gave me some good context of how the SDS chuck works. Once again thanks.
Thank you, exactly what I needed to know.

Yes, excellent video. Well done.
(I hope non-UK residents followed the lovely accented tones of Alex!)
I guess Makita & Bosch are of a muchness in this system of retention.
A question though: Why does the ball bearing come adrift in the first place?
I mean, where does it go? Am I right in thinking the hole becomes larger with time & wear....the ball bearing simply drops out through the main orifice (for the tool)?
And that the " Kit" merely contains a larger diameter ball-bearing?
Thanks!
Hi mate great vid mines missin the ball bearing it spat it out will this despair work on any make of SDS not just bosh
I have HSS chuck but my hole saw extension bar is SDS.
How to convert HSS chuck to SDS bar?
Thank you.
Nice explanation and an interesting accent.
thanks very good
Nice info
my Bosch corded SDS drill is throwing black oil out of the drill release sleave. Is there a seal to change and if so is it a big job? Is there special lube to refill with?
Exactly the problem with my drill. Id wondered where that ball came from. The drill is fixed.👍
would that kit work on my powercraft? When i got it all that was in there was a spring. no bearing. I installed a bearing 7mm and it holds a bit and it works but i can;t help thinking it needs the rest of it although the bearing hasnt dropped out yet
YES YES YES THANK YOU SIR.
Sir,nice video, thanks,is it possible to remove the whole chuck and replace it with keyless chuck,is it possible??
Can I use regular drill bits in this type of drill? Is there some attachment I could get?
Thanks
how much is a repair kit for PBH 2000 RE, like shown in your video. where to buy, I live in Ghana.
hi. do you know how to remove the chuck from a Hilti TE75?
exellent ,
Thankyou
Thanks youre video. Youre video me hellp.
thanks
I have a dewalt breaker and I drilled a 100mm hole through a brick wall using a sds and for the life of me I can't remove the sds bit, I've managed to get the top cap off, pulled clip out lifted out the ball and it's still stuck doesn't matter how many times I pull or try hammer it away nothing, it still fits and works as it should but I can't swap it for use for anything else
Are all the ball bearings the same size for every sds chuck?
So the ball bearing locks the bit in place so it doesn't fall out what is the shaft with the fins that hold the bit when it spins because my bit will slip in the drill.
Excellent video, thank you. I have a Makita HR2540 not used much.
I find that the drill or chisel is very loose in the chuck and has at least 9mm up and down play. This makes accurate chiselling almost impossible. I doubt this can be correct and don't know how to fix this.
Any ideas please?
Thanks
John
I had another look at this excellent video.
My assembly is slightly differnt and there is an excellent diagram on page
www.mtmc.co.uk/Makita-HR2450-Spare-Parts__p-75863.aspx
I also notice on the video at point 5:26/5:50 that the drill has the up and down play
that seems to rule out accurate chiselling.
Can you do this for product STAYER
...... thank you. .......well said," teach me to fish and I will eat for the life time". knowledge is power and power is money.
Hi .

Greetings and thanks for the great post. Is it possible to replace a jaw chuck with a sds chuck on a drill machine? Thanks.
Some drills have interchangeable chucks. I don't know which drill you are referring to. Here are a few examples we sell at Toolstop Shamrai.

Hi do I have to grease this regular and what type of grease is used? thanks
sandydogy
- In my opinion yes. It should be cleaned and lubed regularly, to maintain it in good working order. BUT, there´s always a but...LOL :-)
If it´s used for dusty materials, such as concrete, etc. that dust tends to stick to grease way to easily.
My approach is after cleaning/blowing the mechanism, give a thin film of silicone. Silicone grease last longer, but silicone spray is simply easier, individual choice. ;-)
While at it, it´s always good to blow some compressed air trough the vents...Wear a mask. ;-)
Cheers
My Bosch SDS drill does not run centric anymore. All drills wiggles back and forth. Could this be the chuck or is it the shaft that’s bent?
Difficult to say Pontus. Unfortunately we don't carry out a repair service. Here are a few machines from our website which may interest you.

er bestaan ook circliptangen die je moet samendrukken ipv opentrekken. that's much easyer !

👌👍😎
Thanks for the video. Bought a second hand drill where the SDS mechanism was broken. This video made it really easy to fix this.
Now it would have been cool if Bosch would just sell separate metal balls instead of complete repair sets. Such a waste of money and material, but that's capitalism I guess...
did he say nasty ass ?
Doubtful
I, too, kept thinking he was saying "a nasty ass drill" instead of "an SDS drill." Great video, though. Everything I needed to know to change tool holder on my Bosch rotary hammer.
Thank you
Thanks
Good job
