No, "Made in America" is funny, 9 times out of 10, that shit aint made even on an island off the coast of the U.S, they stick that on stuff to make it more "appealing".
16:27 So like one time i was on a plane, some guy with sad looking face came up to me and he's an audio fan, and he told me "oi, i need some of the audio cleaner, can you go back and get one for me?" So i got off the plane, went back home, ordered one and went back to the airplane again and gave it to him, and turns out the audio cleaner was an alcohol, so i was dragged out of plane again by the security. I'm in jail.
The audiophile community is also actively helping all of these scams. For example, recently I found a video on an audiophile channel saying they could hear differences in optical cables, saying the sound was a lot better on a 300$ cable, lol.
the fact that they dont understand how digital signals work is hillarious. if you where able to make any difference in the signal. it would corrupt or skip. analogue however is way more sensitive. and there is definitely dos and donts.
Most of those guys live on reviews or sell products, if they say it does t matter and don't have the required tools to measure, what are they gonna do?
@@Peron1-MC Technically the signal is analog, but encoded digital, that is why we have single-mode and multi-mode cables for optical, and USB use a diferential pair and analog comparator, but that on audio level is pointless, all the physics they claim are real but only when you start going to microwave levels.
14:04 "That's like having a burn-in time on your tap" Well, actually -- 🤓 Yes I'm aware I'm likely to get slaughtered with nerd emojis, but my grandfather actually works in plumbing, and any time he would replace our well filters or run delimer through the heater, we'd have to run all the taps for 2 or 3 minutes to flush out the old water and potential leftover chemicals so that fresh water would come through the next time we had to shower or something. Burn-in on audio is a myth though, speakers are not motors or batteries and will run pretty much the same whether their new or old or in different environments.
To this day, my so-called "friends" still believe that power cords and USB cables can make an audible difference, is mind boggling, and they said "it can't be measured, you only can hear the difference"... 💀
Power cords I can see, if you have unbalanced or dirty power (you know, like you could see on an oscilloscope). USB cables? That's digital, baby. No difference..
"the audiophile guy" that hung around our floor at college even though he didnt go to college told me to get bookshelf speakers instead of full sized speakers so i could save money to buy better speaker cables.

The problem is they've bought products that aren't going to make a difference to their system. like they're trying to reduce RF but they're using a noisy af powerboard with $2 power leads, of course you're not going to hear a difference...
@@super9mega they literally bought a Nordost Qwave which is specifically meant to be used in conjunction with their powerboards which removes noise from the wall. But my main point is they also didn't and weren't going to hear much of a change because their system isn't in the price category for these items, its like trying to put f1 tires on a $10 shitbox car, of course you're not going to notice a difference!
@@mousetrap7005 like, you are not serious right? They had The Oscilloscope photos from before and after the "power noise reducer" and saw literally nothing different. (Although some ups's can fix dirty power, if you're having an issue with that. But that's mostly like, if you're dealing with that, then this device will probably not help, and you need cleaner power in general)
the Isopropyl was the funniest thing to me. It reminded me of a product at my job. But its a specialty cast iron seasoning spray from Lodge.. in fine print on theback it says "100% Conola Oil" and its $25 for 8 ounces...

Props to Linus and LMG as a whole for really backing their claims of making new format content. Ace work.
the Q-vibe is the worst because it IS possible to do what they're advertising. make a very big very precise notch filter out of giant caps and coils and pass everything that isn't exactly 60Hz in the wall through a resistor, and it'll turn any noise on the circuit into heat. but the resulting box would be massive and at that point you're better off just using a normal in-line passive filter that just blocks the noise by being a 60Hz resonator / band-pass filter.
Man, and here I was with all of my XLR cables running side-by-side with all of my power cables on the floor in my studio... No wonder my music sucks, I thought it was a skill issue.
The only burn-in claim I've witness actually work is is with vacuum tubes. Ive bought new tubes for an amp that were noisy to begin with, left the amp on overnight, then the noise was gone. Everything else is basically a placebo effect.

Dan, i could feel the pain you were in listening to that BS each time he had to read out their marketing claims, i sometimes have the same at work and i have to try not to give them an "You're an idiot" look lol
Oh man... They didn't even scratch the topsoil yet. The braided audio cables, the ferrite chokes, the impedence plugs, gold-plated vs solid gold cabling... There's still a rabbit hole of marketing B.S. they can dive into.
They've covered audiophilia every once in a blue moon for years and I'm super disappointed they haven't treaded into those waters more often, especially since they have a comprehensive cable tester now.
"Hyperaudiophilia" can be a serious mental condition. It occurs when an audiophile (hi-fi enthusiast, nothing wrong with that) achieves a level of sound quality that can not be significantly improved, but feels compelled to continue trying to do so at any cost. It's a form of addiction and can cause otherwise intelligent, rational individuals to be taken in by what others clearly see as nonsensical claims related to sham products. Such products tend to be extremely expensive and, generally speaking, do nothing at all.

That "silver" in the gold-plated XLR filters is probably a thin layer of nickel plating. I forget the specifics, but it is very difficult to plate gold to copper so, typically, the copper if first plated with a layer of nickel which the gold will more easily plate to.
Those CD stickers might have actually been useful once upon a time. Music companies had released some albums that you were supposedly unable to copy/burn to your PC etc. The way to get around it was to get a marker and cover up the writing on the center of the disc. No, "Made in America" is funny, 9 times out of 10, that shit aint made even on an island off the coast of the U.S, they stick that on stuff to make it more "appealing".
@@sterlingodeaghaidh5086 The final 1% of assembly was finished in America.
@@daggern15 Just the way Linus said it. Took me a few seconds to realise haha
@@sterlingodeaghaidh5086 Or it's a bunch of Chinese parts, mostly assembled, and they do the last step. Made in USA now 😎

So like one time i was on a plane, some guy with sad looking face came up to me and he's an audio fan, and he told me "oi, i need some of the audio cleaner, can you go back and get one for me?" So i got off the plane, went back home, ordered one and went back to the airplane again and gave it to him, and turns out the audio cleaner was an alcohol, so i was dragged out of plane again by the security.
I'm in jail.
This needs to be top comment 👏
We need more Dan. His lack of filter is something to be treasured.
First
Wade and Dan are such a great duo. They both have this desire to rip things open and I love it.
Too bad 1 grit wasn't there
“It is not a sin to take money from an idiot” - ancient proverb
I love Dan and Dank being in the same couch, just there, waiting to rip apart those "audiophile products"
Ironically spdif will work through wet spaghetti. You have to make a real mess of a cable to make it quit working.
@@Peron1-MC bUt JiTtEr, how can I be 1000% sure that the bits are arriving in lockstep precision at my DAC???
14:04 "That's like having a burn-in time on your tap" Well, actually -- 🤓
Yes I'm aware I'm likely to get slaughtered with nerd emojis, but my grandfather actually works in plumbing, and any time he would replace our well filters or run delimer through the heater, we'd have to run all the taps for 2 or 3 minutes to flush out the old water and potential leftover chemicals so that fresh water would come through the next time we had to shower or something.
Now, being fair, they CAN make a difference if there's say, a ground loop, or extreme RF interference. But that's also very much measurable.
I'm curious, if I have dirty power issues, how would a power cable help? I assume most of the power filtering is in the device the cable plugs into.
Broken/Damaged power and usb cables make a difference 😂
@syin111 if it's JUST a cable, it probably won't, but if it's an AC adapter, there could be actual line filtering in there.
"the audiophile guy" that hung around our floor at college even though he didnt go to college told me to get bookshelf speakers instead of full sized speakers so i could save money to buy better speaker cables.
This reminds me of walking into a Snap-On truck.
Well, compared the the literal e-waste in this video, the stuff in the snap-on truck at least functions as advertised
@@bsheaves occasionally
This stuff is legitimately illegal.. I’m really hope you returned some of this stuff…
Inb4 they don't accept returns lol
Wait can you really return clear scam
Seed
Fun Fact, Australian Consumer Laws and Consumer protections are so strong that they could return almost all these items for a full refund since they don't function as advertised and/or are not fit for purpose
@@Dude19971 Wow really? Really need those strong laws over here in the US, you'd be surprised by some of the stuff that's allowed, including two-way outlet plugs that are incredibly dangerous for multiple reasons.
Dan, the actual audio guy, losing his mind is killing me. I am actually laughing out loud at his reactions.
Nice actor he was able to sync his lips with dankpods voice, we all know he is just a voice
So many highlights in this episode:
- Dan teetering on the edge of losing his s**t until the burn-in comment, at which point he couldn’t contain himself anymore.
- Linus just realising that each product will have cost him sooo much money for utter audiophile BS. Good thing he set a limit!
- Wade’s “kid in a sweet shop” joy for each new piece of utter crap, knowing that it is going to wind up Dan and Linus…
- Adam’s sarcastic sale’s pitch for each product, and his glee when revealing the price.
- Everyone’s willingness to call out this audiophile rubbish, and joy when taking it apart to prove that it does NOTHING!!!!
Great episode, please can we have more of these collaborations 👏👏👏
The problem is they've bought products that aren't going to make a difference to their system. like they're trying to reduce RF but they're using a noisy af powerboard with $2 power leads, of course you're not going to hear a difference...
@@mousetrap7005 it's all digital. Everything they used was on the digital side. (Except the cable lifters). It's all a scam 😂
If there is a noise difference, then your correct, literally anything, ANYTHING would make more of a difference than it. Meaning that yea, it actually does not make a difference 😆. (Although some ups's can fix dirty power, if you're having an issue with that. But that's mostly like, if you're dealing with that, then this device will probably not help, and you need cleaner power in general)
@@super9mega Of course it didnt make a difference they were using a costco powerboard with default $1 power leads?
the Isopropyl was the funniest thing to me. It reminded me of a product at my job. But its a specialty cast iron seasoning spray from Lodge.. in fine print on theback it says "100% Conola Oil" and its $25 for 8 ounces...
Dank is just such a genuine person, one of very few I just connect with over the inter webs
adam being there to bullshit for the products while dan is losing his mind at every product since minute 1 while linus and wade are just there for the ride while also being in full disbelief every step of the way LMAO
I’ve always loved Dan’s character and his demeanor - @11:51 small side comment is what cemented him as my favorite member of the on-screen LMG cast. Amazing chemistry on-screen on this one guys.
"Please don't dismantle it yourself.
Dan?"
Killed me
🤣 watching Dan squirming in his chair constantly about to lose his f**king mind is the best part and it's hilarious
I've been an audiophile for quite some time, tho it still amazed me how well you managed to show off what sucks about the community 😆
At this point I have seen more of Wade's face on this channel than I have on any of his own. XD
Dan slowly descending into genuine physical pain is hilarious to me.
That's how I feel when I'm doomscrolling Tech Support subreddits.
It's wild to see dankpods actually talking with his face. I've just had the idea that he's just a disembodied voice with hands.
LTT + DankPods is the gift that keeps on giving! Appreciate the early Christmas present!
Seriously thank you guys!

Everything else is basically a placebo effect.
good to see dank pods YT taking him places. had the please of working on his car when it was all taking off and the success couldn't go to someone more deserving.
Gotta ask though, which one?
I think Dan lost his mind in this video! I bet he called off work and said he was not coming back to work for the rest of the week!

Wade canonically doesn't leave the house without his green iPad
My boomer brain needs to hear the audio interference through my head set with every whiny mouse movement to know my computer is computering
Dan, i could feel the pain you were in listening to that BS each time he had to read out their marketing claims, i sometimes have the same at work and i have to try not to give them an "You're an idiot" look lol
WHEN DID THIS COLLAB HAPPEN
WHY HAS THIS NOT COME TO ME
Dan is the unsung hero of this one. This is just hours of him in a permanent state of "you're not f'in serious"
You've stepped into an incredibly fertile field here boys.
*Keep digging!*
Oh man... They didn't even scratch the topsoil yet. The braided audio cables, the ferrite chokes, the impedence plugs, gold-plated vs solid gold cabling... There's still a rabbit hole of marketing B.S. they can dive into.
@@JayrosModShop This isn't their first audiophile rodeo, there's a few older vids
@@jamescruz8678One of my favs back in the CD days was a weighted disc to make the CD more of a flywheel to "smooth out the data stream." Works for vinyl, right? Well, the data goes into a buffer and is paced out by a clock. so... If anything it just made it harder for the motor to adjust disc speed to keep the buffer fed.
I love the finger snapping. It's just so Dankpods. (Catchy name Sony!!)
As an Australian who watch’s both dankpods and Linus I have to say this collab is an absolute win
Cable lifters: 650 USD
Dan's face when he tells Linus how much they cost: priceless.
I don't care much for Linus anymore. The dankpods ft. is what brought me here
This was so entertaining, I could definitely watch a 2 hours version of it.
A LTT and Dankpod collab is all i needed in life 😊
That "silver" in the gold-plated XLR filters is probably a thin layer of nickel plating. I forget the specifics, but it is very difficult to plate gold to copper so, typically, the copper if first plated with a layer of nickel which the gold will more easily plate to.
23:10 "hey Luis, remember when I sold those scam products to some Canadian tech youtubers?"
Those CD stickers might have actually been useful once upon a time. Music companies had released some albums that you were supposedly unable to copy/burn to your PC etc. The way to get around it was to get a marker and cover up the writing on the center of the disc. From memory this was very early 2000's before the Iphone was even a thing.
There were also some discs with copy protection in the outer parts of the CD lol
Like region limiting on DVDs & stuff = just rip it 1'st 2 bypass the blocks =)

To be fair, the flare ear buds have actually done amazing things for my tenitus. I don't think they make anything sound better, but the endless ringing in my head definitely reduces after I wear them for around an hour
I've used the original titanium ear plugs from flare and liked them. And the tinnitus plugs works for some people and not others. Flare are pretty upfront about that.
yea the “calmer” line is amazing. the other products kinda seem useless tho, especially the ones tested in this video lmao
Came here to say the same thing. The Calmer product is a live saver for those it works for. My friend has pretty debilitating Tinnitus and he found Calmer on his own and it drasticly reduced the severity of his affliction.
A couple of times i worked with the Owner/CEO/Dellboy/Usedcarsalesman that started Flareaudio when he was messing about trying to design Large format PA speakers. Total charlatan. mark up on the titanium earplugs ETC is astronomical. falls in to the Audiofool category
Look into "commercial" wall sockets.... they grip better than normal ones, and don't have too crazy of a price tag.
Having Dan and Dankpods (Wade) on the same video is amazing
