My theory is that when Jon died he warged into Ghost, but when he came back to life he stayed in direwolf's body and Ghost took contol over Jon's body. That explains why in last season he only repeats 2 lines "She's mah queen" (he's a loyal doggo) and "I don't wah that"(doggo is not realy interested in human stuff).

I love how in the Game of Thrones fandom you can just say "Euron who wants to become an eldritch lovecraftian god skin changed into the dusky woman to have sex with his brother" And people will just respond, "yeah sounds like a Euron thing to do"
Another thing about Mormont's raven being skinchanged that I only noticed because I'm re-reading aGoT is that it's the raven that basically tells Jon how to kill the wights attacking Mormont. Out of nowhere it starts saying "burn, burn" and gives him the idea to use the lamp-oil. It's absolutely straight-up Bloodraven telling him what to do.
Some say he is still reading iceberg theories to this day, schwifting by candle light, periodically adjusting his mic volume, unaware the power went out in his studio long ago, the ring of the last superchat echoing from weeks past in his memory as he focuses on the blacker and deeper depths of a theory on why coldhands is Illyrio Mopatis, king of the squishers.
I have learned: - The moon is Azor Ahai - John Snow fathered himself - Tyrion Lannister is a time traveling fetus - Euron is actually every f*cking character in the book Thank you for this knowledge Shwifty
@Mika AMAG well, Robb legitimized Jon to all the vassal lords he took with him to the twins. So even if he is or isn't a bastard so much of his story is him coming to grips with that, for all intents and purposes he is a bastard yanno?
Or the even more obvious answer, Ned named him "Jon" after Jon Arryn. Rhaegar was dead, not present to name the kid. Lyanna is dead, Ned picked the name. I don't see George doing dumb bullshit of Rhaegar naming this kid months in advance with some Targ name. Even if he did, it's not his "true" name because he's never been called by it in his life.
@@stupidhandles How is it less money though? If they release both books a year apart, its no difference. This isnt like releasing two slightly different smartphones at the same time, this is a story and every fan buying Book 6, will buy book 7 as well.
Personal Theory I haven't really seen talked about Rhaeagar WAS Azhor Ahai and Robert doomed everyone. Unlikely, I know. But it would fit the whole subversion of tropes theme. The "chosen one" is dead and now they gotta make do with what they've got. No "clean" victory. The others can't really be stopped by conventional means, so some sort of compromise or sacrifice will have to be made to achieve some sembalnce of peace.
i think this is really interesting but I would be more inclined to believe it if there was only 1 azor ahai, i think the hinted cyclical nature of these chosen ones negates this theory. still, i think this would be cool.
This theory reminds me of how things turned out in Dune. Paul was supposed to be a girl and that foiled the plan and they made do with what they had, hoping to salvage the master plan.

In complete seriousness, I would love to see Ser Pounce get a little piece of the glory. Maybe something like knocking over Cerseis wine so she has to go change dresses before burning Kings Landing (she is vain enough to feel the need to commit massmuder while looking good) which would in turn lead to Jamie catching up with her and valonquaring her, or Quburn finding the last piece of a conscience rattling around in him somewhere and siccing the zombie mountain on her
I personally think that Ser Pounce is the mastermind pulling Littlefinger's strings. Do I have any evidence? No. Do I need evidence? No. Is my theory personally endorsed by George R. R. Martin himself? No. Do I care? No.
I'll say this regarding R+L=J and the "too obvious" solution being Rhaegar and Lyanna: If it makes sense, is satisfying, and the reader could put that together, then obvious isn't an issue. The issue comes from the writers thinking that "too obvious" is a bad thing because "we gotta keep the reader guessing! A mystery is only fun when the solution comes out of nowhere and no one could have predicted it!" The most satisfying part of a plot twist isn't the twist itself, but the audience going either "I KNEW IT" or "I SHOULD HAVE SEEN THAT COMING."
That, and so many people now say R+L=J is obvious only because we've had what, 10 YEARS since the last book? Even if you haven't watched the show, there's almost 2 million words of material ripe for us to find theories in.
I'm sure that I would have missed 90% of the secret twists in the story if it wasn't for me watching all these TH-cam videos and reading posts about ASOIAF. The clues are there, but they are a lot more subtle than people give them credit for. People only know them because lots of other people have worked to find them and put them together to make it easy for people.
4:36:54 the fact that the horn is said both to bring down the wall and to raise giants from the earth makes me picture The Wall literally being made of giants frozen over with ice, like a weird winter Attack on Titan twist
@@Peacich yeah if a giant ice dragon was released from the wall when the horn was blown, i could live with that, i do feel like we’ll see an actual ice dragon in the books
of course. because Dany is Sansa. Sansa travelled back in time and got herself pregnant with herself, then brought the babies from two different timelines, one to be raised as a Stark and the other magically glamored to look like a Targ because thats what needs to be done to defeat the Walkers and save the world.
Regarding Theon's castration in the books, when he's told to prepare Arya (Jayne) for her bedding on the wedding night, he mutters "no, i can't, i have no-..." which i think was the strongest evidence.
Mermaid Varys kills Ser Pounce in a trial by combat. Ser Pounce, upon death, wargs into the Night King to freeze the whole world so that Hot Pie can refrigerate pies made of Freys. Ghost finds the pies and is about to eat them when Bloodraven wargs into the pies and poisons himself as a pie to avenge the death of Walder Frey, Bloodraven's twin brother. But it turns out to have been a different Walder Frey in the pie. Ghost vomits out a bunch of Freys and Bloodraven-pie out of his wolf-mouth and just walks away. Bran, after seeing all of this, decides to burn his own eyes. Hot Pie helps him do it.
it bothers me that everyone just went along with this interpretation; MEER-man... it said Meer! as in, "Thoros of Meer". as in, that city across the sea. (i realize the misinterpretation might be intentional, but its driving me NUTS!
I’m not gonna lie I love the A+J=J+C. not because of the rape, obvs, rip Joanna. But because of the irony, that not only are Tywin’s golden children incestuous disappointments, one of whom is well on her way to mad queen status if not already, they aren’t even his. Tyrion being tywins only child is just the cherry on top of the cake. Tywins obsession with legacy and the one child he despises is the only one he has.
It would also have a lot of other amusing implications. For one, it would mean despite despising Targs to the point of rebelling and usurping the throne, Bobby B ended up marrying a Targ and raising(in the loosest sense of the word) Targ children, complete with consanguineous parentage. And after he died, the Iron Throne has returned to Targaryen hands. Related to this, it would mean Joffrey, whose illegitimate claims to the crown in part led to the Wot5K, would have a, if somewhat dubious, claim to the Iron Throne. Jaime wouldn't only be a kingslayer but a kinslayer as well. Funnily enough, it would also mean he unknowingly followed Aerys' last command; he killed his father. If theories of FAegon being a Blackfyre is true, it would mean the upcoming conflict between Cersei, Dany, and FAegon would be akin to all the Targ civil wars rolled into one, Dance of Dragons+Blackfyre Rebellions.
This dude ASX is literally a character from ASOIAF character. Having multiple channels and acting as if he's a different name on each channel, the ASX lore is so compelling.
That's why he denies the far north eventually reaches the Ulthos/Asshai region. The meta has a meta, time is a flat circle, the Yellow King rules all, etc.
The Sealord of Braavos had bloody velociraptors and giraffes in his menagerie that were alive for some amount of time, a rich dude can buy some dirt to plant a tree that will help keep his teeth from falling out
not without artificial light though. Bravos themperature is actualy less of a problem, then the gray foggy lack of longtherm expoisure of bright sunlight and even a glasgarden with artificial lightwill not make it a lemon tree outside of her window
I think what people overlook with what Varys is telling Kevan is that no information is ever safe, and Varys knows that better than anyone. Even though he's planning to kill Kevan, telling him his big secret would be absolutely pointless and could come back to bite him if somehow Kevan escapes, or there was an eavesdropper, etc. And, as anyone who knows psychology can tell you, one of the most important parts of projecting a sustained lie meant to last, is living the lie. The lie must become truth, and you must treat it as such as much as you possibly can. You never admit that it is false to anyone, and even try limit outright discussion with those in the know. Because, at the end of the day, yes Kevan is dying but that goes both ways. Why would Varys tell him the truth? What does he have to gain from that? In fact, I believe that not even fAegon knows he's not Aegon. I think he truly believes it, and they've made sure this is so because then he can never give up the game because he doesn't know there is one.
I came here to see if someone else had made this point, and I agree with you completely; it came straight into my mind as soon as ASX mentioned the whole "why tell him" - Varys is trying to convince himself to some degree.
this is a fantastic comment. And you’ve caused me to realize something - i would not be surprised if George hates the trope of villains explaining all their secret villainy to their captives (and thus the audience), often leading to their being downfall. Here, he subverts that trope by having varys give this speech while revealing nothing
"If you spend enough money, you can get a lemon to grow wherever you goddamn want." That sounds like a really profound, multi-layered quote attributed to a contemporary philosopher.
Something I find weird about theories on Daenerys turning mad and destroying King's landing is how nobody mentions the wild fire. I think she will have a small snap and accept to have SOME civilian casualties during a fight in king's landing. But the moment she uses her dragons. KABOOM. Huge chain reaction. The whole city burns. She will be hated by everyone and be crushed by remorse. Letting herself die or become too vulnerable to avoid getting killed by her now many enemies.
That’s what I think the gamble will be when she takes King’s Landing. It will be this gamble whether to use her dragons to take KL considering the collateral damage and destruction they do, she’ll use them and accidentally set off the cache’s of wildfire beneath the city.
Plus Tyrion is with her, who is one of the only people who knows the placement & extent of the wildfire - would he discourage her like in the show, or is he still hellbent on revenge and wouldn’t tell her so she’d blow it up without knowing? 👀
I completely agree with you. George has harped on about Kings Landing being a huge powder keg, and Danny's just one big match. I can imagine her seeing that green explosion and just falling apart.
yeah, I am totaly on the she gets mad train, but nowhere near the one she is evil. She is not, she can be ruthless and thoughtless a creature of action and impuls, she is bonded to god damned dragons, what do you expect. But beside her dragons she has an increadably compassionate heart and that sets of a strong dissonance and strain in her. I can imagine that people will tell her not to, she thinks she needs to set a sign, but that she will keep a tight controll over it, ends the discussion before someone can explain the risk with the wildfire to her sets it of and the terror of the genocide she more or less unintentionaly has inacted is the last straw that breaks her sanity. People who just watched the show miss that the one thing she truely wants got nothing to do with the throne or power, she just wants to feel safe she just wants to have a home, the throne is viseryses goal, not hers. The seeds for her going mad go all the way back.
I like the one where Daenerys has Droghon burn Young Griff and a desperate Old Griff sets off the wildfire caches to deny Daenerys' victory and she ends up taking all the blame because... you know, she has three dragons.
Targaryans are a family, valyrians are a race. There’s probably tons of other valyrians but probably no other targaryans besides a few (like young griff Varys etc.) but those could also be just valyrians not specifically targaryans
@@ALY-xc7fl I think its Lys that used to be a valyrian vacation place, and has tons of valyrian like people nowadays descended from the bastards of the original dragon lords, with silver hair but blue eyes instead of purple. Always makes me wonder why Young Griff and other Targaryens in hiding bother dying their hair when the eyes are what will really give them away.
@@CoRLex-jh5vx I think Griff dyes his hair because Valyrian hair is a _dead_ giveaway (mostly a giveaway for likely being rich and influential, to the average person; more likely to be harassed by muggers I guess). The eyes aren't that much of a giveaway when most people probably won't even notice the colours of his eyes, or will confuse them for being blue by some trick of the mind (if you are expecting someone to *not* have purple eyes, you can easily convince yourself that you're just seeing wrong).
@@knightofsolice1304 also it's difficult to distinguish eye colour most of the times, unless you really go up close. I honestly find it very difficult to distinguish between grey, green and light-blue eyes most of the times, so I'm fairly sure it would be difficult to distinguish between Purple and Blue eyes too
House Baelish’s sigil was the titan head of Braavos but Littlefinger chose a mockingbird for his personal sigil. Something mockingbirds are known for is laying eggs in other birds’ nests. So perhaps a mockingbird (Littlefinger) laid an egg (Sweetrobin) in another bird’s (Jon Arryn’s) nest (the Eyrie).
Deepest lore: the Wall is a perfectly normal and natural rock formation, and legends and myths grew around it retroactively over the course of thousands of years.
Thats how i feel about the long night and the doom of valyria, they could be natural disasters like the ice age or a gigantic volcano explosion and over time myths were made to explain the unexplainable
@@sombersensei9119 I don't think the doom was a disaster. It makes more sense that it was their own fault, like a failed sorcery or vengeance from their slaves. It makes more sense thematically to be realted to their own hubris and ambition
i wokr as a baker and for large parts of my shift i’m pretty much just alone in my little space and i can listen to whatever i want and my god i’ve never been more excited to start my shift lmfao
Regarding A+J=J+C. Cersei and Jaime could have come out “normal” because they were a product of this relationship while Tyrion came out misformed because he’s the only one who would have been a product of incest. Tyrion being Tywin’s only actual son would make their whole plotline even more beautiful in my opinion. The children Tywin loved weren’t actually his while the one he despised actually was. Completely unnecessary though I do agree.
I am on the train of Tyrion being both aerys and tywins son for with his book describtion, or two eye and hair colors he sounds a hell of a lot like a chimera and grrm knowes this kid of shit
One generation of incest isn’t going to make your child have every deformation at once. Still do not marry your cousins but one generation really won’t make the kids have 3 legs and 7 fingers
Reminds me of that one joke about a man who has a wife and 3 sons: the oldest sons are strong, handsome and fit, but the youngest one is weak and scrawny, and the man always doubted if it was really his child. So on his deathbed, he has a moment alone with his wife, and asks her to tell him the unvarnished truth: is the youngest son really his, or was he conceived with another man? The wife swears, hand on her heart, that the child is his, and the man dies happy. Right after the man passes away, the wife sighs in relief and thinks to herself "thank God he didn't ask about the other two".
For the Tyrion is the true target of the purple wedding theory I heard, it stems off of Joffrey not dying right away after drinking the wine (like Maester Cressen), and instead starting to choke after eating Tyrion's pie. The theory assumes that Cersei poisoned Tyrion's pie and it backfired
I do think that that could have happened, but I prefer Olenna and Littlefinger poisoning Jofferey. I prefer to think that Cersei actively believes that Tryion killed her son and that drives her hatred for him well over the top.
@@jamesbowers5478 It actually doesnt make a whole lot of sense this way, and is far less well established in the books than the show. Littlefinger and Olenna are pretty unlikely candidates. The Tyrells have been alienated from kings landing for a long time at this point, and have arrived while Joffrey is being reigned in by Tywin. You dont get any of them hanging around and sussing out Joff like you do in the show, and in the book it is more explicitly stated that they dont really care who marge marries so long as it is king. Nobody would openly conspire with Littlefinger to commit regicide when that regicide wouldnt change the overall people in power. He would turn around and betray you. He was desperate at this point too and was losing what little power he had under Tywin. He has every reason to try and suck up and double cross the Tyrells.
@@jamesbowers5478 I do agree that Cersei is an unlikely candidate as well. She loves her kids and I think it is more in line with her character to believe it is Tyrion because she is paranoid and Tyrion left a trail of threats and evidence.
@@Luminousreign Actually there’s a number of hints that the Tyrells wanted to kill Joffrey, and have Margaery marry the much more controllable Tommen instead. The Tyrell women, anyway. Mace clearly had nothing to do with it. We know Olenna is very dangerous, and protective of Margaery. She gets info out of Sansa confirming the negative rumors about Joffrey’s abuse. Also IIRC in the book the Tyrell girls share some sort of “look” when this happens. Also Olenna straightens Sanaa’s hairnet. I think Sansa actually herself thinks this means Olenna poisoned Joffrey when Littlefinger makes some remark to her about the hairnet. I actually remember it being pretty open and shut, I don’t think you’re supposed to question if Olenna poisoned Joffrey.
Since Cersei wasn't aware of Jamie's reasoning behind killing Aerys and saving the people of King's Landing, I really wish the show would have had Cersei place wildfire all over the city and plan to ignite it and burn it down rather than admit total defeat. Jamie would have had to kill her in order to save the city once again, and this would have been fulfilled the prophecy of the Valanquar as well as being a tragic and poetic end to Jamie's redemption arc. But cmon having him get crushed by some bricks was pretty genius and I guess that's why D&D make the big bucks. They're just on that next level of writing and scripting television.
yeah they got rid of it but cmon you've gotta give credit where credit is due. I'd much rather have those epic Jon Snow mini-muh queen-monologues than some nerdy crap like character arc or thematic consistency. why develop the idea that either blindly following or staunchly fighting prophecy always ends in failure and chaos when you can just replace it with a teleporting flying Arya or little girls screaming and killing zombie giants? You can't clap with your friends at a bar for a Valanquar my man. Plus I think it's just because Cersei kind of forgot about the Valanquar
She did have wildfire planted around the city. You can see it going off when Dany is on her rampage. I actually laughed at it because I was finding everything so ridiculous at that point
My personal theory is that the Others began amassing their forces once Jon was born as a sort of preemptive strike against humankind. If there really was a truce between Starks and Others, the Starks having "the blood of the dragon", and by assumption dragons as well, seems like a pretty big red alert for the Others. It'd be like if a country we were on uncertain terms with suddenly acquired nukes.
@@dobson. that doesnt have to be related tho. We dont know why craster is sacrificing or if those sacrifices have anything to do with their current rise. The main hole in the theory i see is that we need a method for the white walkers to find out about jon. Currently the only friendly human that could give them the info is craster. They dont seem to talk to him that much and i doubt craster would have reason to know or care about a bastard in winterfell
@@dobson. you got a source on that one buddy? Cause crastor as youve said has been sacrificing kids for like 30 years where as the white walkers have only been agro for the last like 3 years. If the apocalypse has been planned for more then 30 years, why would they wait? The last winter was only 9 years before the story started Id need to see some real evidence that crastor was doing it in anticipation of the apocalypse
I like the theory that Joffery took the knife from Robert's collection and he was the one to hire the cats paw. Robert says that it would be a mercy for bran to die and joff wanted to impress his father. Joff is probably the only person to give a drunk guy a knife that can be traced back to the king to kill a well guarded boy and think that that would go well
GRRM did say we would learn the answer to that in SoS and that is the only explanation given. So as much as I wish it was something cooler, it seems to be the answer.
Well while both are false, one is more obviously wrong since The Mountain murders and rapes people whereas the Dursley one could be true upon first thought but it got shot down by Rowling.
@@HOTD108_ I literally just read a comment on another video a few hours ago with someone saying that the Dursley's were mean because Harry was a Horcrux. He said something like "Ron being cruel to Harry and Hermione because of the Horcrux? It's almost as if the Dursley's were mean because they had a Horcrux around them...wait!" So it's a joke, but also set forward as something that makes sense. I'm not sure if he was saying it was a plot hole or if he was saying it was the logical reason.
The only reason why Martin included the detail of Aerys "taking liberties" with Joanna is to include some context as to why Tywin hated Aerys, left his job and later betrayed him. Tywin was a famously petty man, and never forgot or forgave slights. Tywin deeply loved Joanna, so any man that messed with her, even a king, would have become an instant enemy of Tywin.
Yeah, but he also is a very rational man, his conviction of Tyrion not being his must come from somewhere . . . . The books pretty heavely imply Tyrion to be a chimera, so I actualy think, the only thing that would give that meaning would be, if he was both of theirs son
@@SingingSealRiana he doesn't think Tyrion is his son because he is a petty, vain man. Tyrion being an ugly dwarf ruins his image of Lannister glory and beauty. Which is part of the tragedy of Tyrion being a lot of like Tywin, more than Jaime or Cersei.
7 hours of theory icebergs and no mention of the weird underground caves all over the place that suck the colour out of the world (Jon + Ygritte's cave, Bran + Bloodraven's even weirder cave, Arya's impression of the lower levels of the house of black + white, pretty sure it happened in the Winterfell Crypts and the house of the Undying too).
@@Killercreek it could just be people's eyes adjusting and weird tricks of light, true, but the way it's described in Bloodraven's cave is for sure mythologically borked. The cave at high heart has a guy entangled in weirwood roots, evoking Bloodraven. The house of black and white has a weirwood door for no obvious reason. The rest all seem to be part of the same cave network, except for Winterfell, which is only possibly part of it. And I guess the Undying have tons of their own madness going on to account for it anyway.
For the record, my money is on sleeping Old Ones due to Bran's description of an underground lake of pitch-black water. So it'll probably just be interesting flavour text. Still deserves a bit more appreciation from the tinfoil hat brigade.
I think with regard to the Grand Maester Conspiracy, that it was the Maesters who first concieved the idea of the dragonpit, knowing that the confinement would reduce the size and strength of the dragons over generations. And then building on this, the idea that the Maesters are working to engineer a world where magic goes extinct.
I forget how insane some of the theories are sometimes, I once heard a theory that Sansa was secretly Littlefinger's daughter because he drugged and raped Caitlyn one night so Caitlyn wouldn't remember because she was drugged, and the evidence was that Sansa looked different from the other Stark children and looked more like a Tully or some shit, I swear George needs to finish Winds already people are going insane.

Old boomer Asoiaf fan here. Back in the day (late 90s/early 00s), both R+L=J and Mad Queen Dany were widely accepted in the fandom as true. This was long before Feast was published. If you spent any time at all on early Asoiaf message boards, you were guaranteed to run across R+L=J and Mad Queen Dany.
Personally, I’ve always viewed Lemongate as a kind of ‘collage memory.’ I think that Daenerys is taking elements from two different memories and piecing them together.
I was thinking that… George has mentioned the “unreliable narrator” thing before, hasn’t he? We’re dealing with character’s skewed memories and personal bias.
@@The.Nasty. George was asked about lemongate by a fan and said the fan was perceptive and that, basically, he would say no more. There is SOMETHING George has intentionally set up with that damned lemon.
My personal crackpot is that she and Jon are twins, Dany could not grow up in Ned’s household because she looked like a Targaryen… wayyy too many comparisons and imagery of her and Rhaegar, moreso even than Jon and Lyanna/blue flower imagery
The thing about Bran raping Meera thru Hodor is just a misunderstanding of the metaphor that when Bran takes over people, that is like rape and abuse. Hodor's spirit cowers in his mind from Bran. and Bran "accidentally" touches Meera's mind and it freaks her out. Which isn't to say an actual rape won't happen, but I think the bigger point is the metaphor.
When does Bran accidentally touch Meera’s mind? That’s seems like such a big thing, but I cannot remember that unfortunately! Is it when they’re in the cave with BloodRaven? Sorry about the dumb questions.
@@sglauney That's already been implied. Varamyr goes on and on about how Hakon would have called what he was doing abomination. Bran is actually further down that path than Varamyr was, and he doesn't know any better. Bloodraven is taking advantage of Bran, big time.
A theory that I've come up with: Craster is Maegor Targaryen, the missing infant son of Prince Aerion Targareyen and Daenora Targaryen. Maegor was born in around 232 AC; looking at Craster's portrayal in the TV show, this would make him around the same age. Craster's official back story states: "Craster is the bastard son of a man of the Night's Watch and a wildling woman from the village of Whitetree. His father abandoned his mother after Craster was conceived, and when his mother tried to bring him to Castle Black, she was chased off by members of the Watch. His father's name is never mentioned." It's interesting that the time frame when Craster would have been born the maester at the Wall would have been a young Aemon Targaryen (baby Maegor's uncle) and the Lord Commander was Brynden Rivers (baby Maegor's great great uncle). I'm proposing that one of them, if not both of them somehow smuggled their nephew beyond the wall and left him to be raised by the wildlings. I don't know how/ why they'd have felt the need to do this, as this time period isn't something George RR Martin has written about yet; I'm hoping we get to find out in one of the future Dunc & Egg novels what happened when Aemon and Brynden went to the Wall. Seems odd the Craster was born around the same time this Targaryen baby who was heir to the throne went missing. Also, this *could* shed light on why Craster keeps his bloodline pure by marrying his daughters and why Craster needs to do this in order for The Night King to turn the babies into White Walkers, because they have next to 100% pure Valyrian blood.
This is plausible, although we need more information and at least a couple more clues to build a conspiracy instead of the simpler explanation which is believing what we’re told about Crastor.
Why do I never see the theory... Bran made the Mad King mad (similar to Hodor) after trying to use time warg powers to warn him of Walkers to "burn them all". Love that one!
I wish it was true lol i still believe in that one even tho it possibly wont be.. I think Mad King was just an paranoid dude in whom years and years of incest cumulated...I just pray that Dany doesn’t go mad like in the show
@@dreamday988 Don't forget that he was also kidnapped, tortured, and threatened with execution by the lord of Duskendale for six months straight, which basically confirmed to him that all his suspicions were true. I feel like if Dany hasn't suffered a mental break from all the tragedy and trauma she has been through at only fourteen she's probably in the clear for a Mad Queen moment unless something truly horrific happens.

The cannibal thing is also explored with Stannis, he kills those who eat corpses in the North when his army is marching towards Winterfell, and when he was holding Storm's End's siege, he would not let his people eat the dead bodies of those who had fallen.

Rhaego is proof that dragons were made artificially with blood magic. He was almost fully converted into a dragon in the womb using the blood of Drogo's stallion. A more powerful sacrifice (such as Nissa Nissa) could be used to to create a full dragon (Lightbringer) Edit: Septon Barth's Unnatural History also theorises that Valyrian bloodmages experimented on wyverns to create the dragons
I hadn't noticed those... could just be images representing the Valyrian's use of both blood magic and dragons. I don't think HotD is canon to ASOIAF universe, as there are some inconsistencies (Laenor surviving, Daemon killing the Royce himself, etc.)@@eamonlyons8318
So in this version Nissa Nissa would be pregnant and died (sacrificed herself) giving birth to lightbringer= a living dragon, which makes sense. But Dany already has 3 hatched dragons and thinks she can’t get pregnant anymore, so this time round Dany playing the role of Nissa Nissa must play out differently then…
I think Syrio was actively AGAINST the Faceless. " What do we say to death ? - Not today " Kind of like a foreshadowing that she shoul dhave said no to the offer to join the Faceless men.
Watching this video was my first exposure to the "unTommen" theory... and immediately, my first reaction: it is absolutely true and unTommen = valonqar... After her last child dies, Cersei will lose her shit, go to Qyburn and beg him to "bring my baby back," Qyburn will try, and zombie Tommen will immediately go zombiecrazy and choke Cersei to death. She will have the life choked out of her by 'the little brother'... Joffrey's little brother, and the ultimate cumulative result of all her sins.
@@lurksnitchtongue8986 when does Cersei hear the valonqar prophesy? In immediate response to a question about her children. The valonqar is the little brother of her children, not her siblings. Though I've also thought that it could be entirely metaphorical and still be about Tommen, depending on who he names as his next HAND after Kevan. Say Tommen picks his cousin Lancel since they're related and Tommen seems to be childishly naive about supporting the Faith (but it really doesn't matter who he picks, as long as they don't like Cersei), first thing Second Hand does is say "Cersei is corrupt, put her on trial," then Cersei could still be brought down by the "Hands" of the valonqar... But that's definitely stretching the wordplay pretty far haha
@@JimRFF This is honestly just Preston Jacobs level of overthinking. Jaime is a far cleaner and more narratively rewarding answer to the Valonqar prophecy. At the end of the day only time will tell, though.
I thought the same too but Tyrion born in 273, a year before, in 272, there was a "anniversary tourney" to celebrate the 10 years of King Aerys ruling the kingdom, Joanna assisted and Aerys made uncomfortable comments about her breast, but it is theorized that Aerys took advantage of Joanna and that's why Tywin try to resign the job of hand of the king the next day.
@@danielruiz8259 the theory completely ruins the relationship between Tywin/Tyrion, I highly doubt it's true, also Tywin tried to resign the next day because he was mad at Aerys because he refused to marry Rhaegar to Cersei (Tywin proposed the marriage during the tourney and Aerys refused) and because he insulted Joanna by saying that nursing her children ruined her breasts which humiliated her, not because Aerys took advantage of Joanna, I don't support the theory but it's more likely that Jaime and Cersei are secretly Aerys' children than Tyrion IMO, because their relationship with Tywin isn't as important to their characters as Tyrion and because the books did technically say that Aerys "took some liberties" during Joanna's bedding ceremony when she got married to Tywin, IMO that just means Aerys got a bit too handsy with her but I guess it's technically possible that he had sex with her, again I don't support the theory but I think it's more likely than Tyrion Targaryen because there is at least some evidence, even if it's only one line.
@@filippatrik3412 bro what not every targaryen bastard is a blackfyre lol. If Jon turns out to be Rhaegar's son he's just a bastard, not a blackfyre. There are other targaryen bastards like bloodraven and bittersteel(even though that one fought for the blackfyres) and they're not blackfyres.
@@jamesfitzgerald8267 I think it could be just as poignant, if not more, if Tywin's true heir isn't actually his by blood. That "Tywin writ small" isn't biologically Tywin's, and yet he is in every meaningful way his son.
Jamie being the Valinquar makes more sense when you consider that Jamie was holding Cerci's foot. Jamie lost his hand and Cerci cut her foot during the walk of shame and then trod in shit and cat guts and all that so she may lose her foot. Another symbol of their bond being broken
I am way too far away from when I read the books to appreciate all the references in the video and replies, but posts like this are almost enough to make me want to read it all again. There's some really wonderful stuff in this books. I love all the interconnectedness that invites these theories. Astounding work.
@@jpVari there is a channel on youtube called indeepgeek who has been making theory videos on asiof for years now. They are really good quality and worth checking out.
I doubt she will lose her foot her last scene in the book takes place weeks after the walk of shame when she is talking to ser Kevin he notes she seems humbled but mentioned nothing about a limp or illness a limp would come within a day or two and infection not long after so I'm assuming its at least a week or two cus some of her hair has grown back. Would be cool tho plus she has qyburn he wouldn't let her lose a foot with his arts lol
I'd like to point out that UnTommen is a supplement to Valonqar Tommen (I've only ever seen UnTommen in Valonqar-related discussions so likely that's the reason the theory even came to be) In this context the scene you described at 1:52:53 gets even darker, if Tommen dies under similar circumstances as in the show (kills himself from grief over something directly caused by Cersei), then he might come back with a strong hateful grudge against Cersei; and as she clutches him to her, drowning in tears of joyful delusion, he wraps his hands around her throat (with a strong zombie grip) and fulfills the prophecy. Highly unlikely (Jaime valonqar is prolly canon) but it's still a great horrifying scene to imagine.
This is the one I really like the most. The foundation is there with the Mountain being brought back and Dondarrion- all grown adults with less memory or sense of self upon revival. I always imagined it as Frankenstein gone horribly wrong. Cersei poisons Tommen under the assumption that FAegon is going to murder them. Doesn't. Then, during the confrontation with Dany she begs our dark doctor to bring her baby boy back to her. It appears to not work. However, just as all firey hell breaks loose on King's Landing with dragons her son awakens and strangles his own mother. His last memories are of his death at her hands. And she dies in a pool of her own tears choked out by her youngest son. Kinda full circle with Cersei, but yeah, probably Jamie.
I know someone else has probably already said but as an extension of the “Ramsey Flayed Hornwood’s fingers” @ 4:55:18 is because Reek talks about trying to bite one of his fingers off after it being flayed in Reek I. He says the pain is so bad from the flesh drying and cracking that he tried to bite it off to stop the pain. That explains why lady hornwood would bite her finger off MUCH better than hunger (also explains why her bones would be gone).
The younger more beautiful woman that is meant in cerseis prophecy is just a younger version of herself. Her past catches up with her, her own mistakes will be her doom.
Yeah that's one single dynasty ruling the same realm for ~2000 years longer than the entire length of IRL human civilization (from the first Sumerian cities to the present day). Pretty ridiculous even when you factor in magic and technological stagnation.
About the Maester Conspiracy: What if by dragons in "who do you think killed the dragons last time around" he meant the Targaryens. In Summerhall almost all of the Targaryens where killed. A young Pycelle was grand maester at that time. It is possible that he did something to the eggs or sabotaged the wild fire (maybe even working with a yound Tywin). Then he told King Aerys to open the gates of Kings Landing for the Lannisters during the rebelion and they even killed the baby Targaryens. Dragons in the books sometimes mean Targaryens. So maybe they DID killed the dragons (at least that's what they believed, since Danny is supposedly the last dragon)
@@DarksideGmss0513 Now *that* would very interesting, and probably fit the theme of "fire burning hot and short" cycle we see Targaryens go thru between Hedge Knight and Fire & Blood. They uncovered ancient knowledge or are in direct contact with the Faceless Men and/or other conspiracies that revealed a long term detriment of the dragon binding, so they maneuvered to slowly get rid of all Valyrians. Add it to the berg please 😁
Naaah, Summerhall was just Egg trying to burn Rhaegar (and other Targs) to bring back the dragons. He was trying to do the same ritual than Daenerys but only her succeded. That's my pet theory that came to me by that part when Jon was utterly surprised about Stannis wanting to burn babes and maester Aemon said to him: "better men than Stannis have tried to do the same" but I don't remember about any other good person in the story that tried to burn a baby. Egg just got the recipe for blood sacrifice from those same scrolls that Aerys I was reading during Dunk & Egg and knew that only death can pay for life and blood was required but not any blood, king's blood(Targaryen blood) The same elements that Dany had during the birth of the dragons were present in Summerhall: -Targaryen blood (king's blood), Daenerys burned there but also his unborn child remains were there, in the case of Egg in the World book says that the blood of the dragon was summoned there and we all know about all the Targs present there. -"Holy blood". Daenerys burned Mirri Maz Duur with them, Egg had a bunch of septons and also the Ghost of High Heart there but she survived (I talk about the "holy blood" because apparently Euron is collecting also holy men for some kind of ritual) and, - Of course, some dragon eggs. I think many characters have found the recipe for dragons or at least for blood sacrifice(Euron, Melissandre, Egg, maybe Rhaegar) but only Daenerys who ironically did not have a clue about any of this succeded, she got them just following the instinct in her blood. Also, all those other ones apparantly got the recipe but in every case they got it wrong or simply incomplete. In the case of Mel, she might burn Shireen trying to wake some dragons, but she will end up just reviving Jon, anyway still there are some loose ends over there since there are no dragon eggs at the Wall or maybe those will not be needed since the dragon awoken will be just Jon Snow and not a real winged one, also Mel have not spoken yet about any "holy blood" required. In the case of Euron, he has a recipe, but he's perverting it since apparently he is trying to awake some krakens from the sea, not dragons. In any case IMO Euron just think of himself as so much more important than what he actually is. In the case of Egg, ohh he really got the recipe complete it's just that he was not the chosen one, his blood was not the right one. It would only work in the cases of Daenerys and Jon cause THEY are the ones that the world have been waiting for. And at last, Rhaegar, oh he might have all the info but we don't, so we can not really talk about what he was trying to do, maybe he succeded (creating Jon Snow) or maybe he did not and his was just a case similar to Egg. Anyway, sorry for my rambling that nothing had to do with the main idea of your comment but Summerhall is one of my favorite topics and you brought it to the spotlight haha
The best explanation for "the others aren't evil" is just that they were created to defend the children of the forest from the first men. Despite being pushed to the north wasteland, they still have that "divine" (and not strictly evil) mission. This much seems almost Canon, and I'm excited to see what twists and details GRRM includes to flesh out this dynamic
But if they're not evil why do they take joy in killing people? Their literal first appearance in the books is them basically playing around with a young knight, cackling and letting him fight a bit before brutally executing him. Could they have been corrupted somehow?
@@tite93 i don't think it was literal laughter, just a custom of their species, it wasn't playing with him rather it was just wary I like thinking about them as so something so disconnected from everything human it makes no sense trying to analyze them, plus their design (in books) is so goddamn cool
@@tite93 In World War II, if an Allied soldier laughed and played around with a Nazi soldier before killing him, I'm betting that most people at the time would have been fine with that. Nazi soldiers were seen as evil, even though in reality they were often just innocent German civilians conscripted into the military and forced to fight. Similarly, the White Walkers would view all humans as evil. They wouldn't take the time to differentiate between good humans and bad humans. They were all a threat. The one theory I have that I haven't seen talked about much is the idea that the Children of the Forest made White Walkers so they could be killed by dragon glass since that was what the weapons of the Children of the Forest were made of. But the Children of the Forest realized that the zombies that the White Walkers created couldn't be killed by dragon glass. That is why the White Walkers suddenly became a threat to the Children of the Forest as well. I know the show didn't support this theory, but I think it might still be supported by the books and it would explain why the Children of the Forest thought they could control the White Walkers but discovered they couldn't.
The omega-meta theory: GRRM lied to Dan and Dave in their planning meeting on purpose, and the show past season 5 was actually just flat out wrong, basically a fan fiction. He told them plot details that were never real but some half-truths. He has a completely different idea for the story of the last two books. It's his life's work and I dont believe in the slightest he would give away the crescendo to some HBO writers. Nah, he's sitting on the real story, and the version he gave DnD in their 30 minute production meeting was like the dry run of one possible ending and he knew it was bad going in, but did it anyway just to fuck with the book readers. The show was a very profitable experiment. HBO executives just want to make money, and they did, they got awards, pedigree, A-list actors. They couldn't give a fuck that the show was never a real ASoIaF production as far as the story goes. 8D gigabrain chess move by GRRM, but it won't matter cause he's gonna die before he finishes the books anyway.
well the showrunners skipped shitload of stuff from Feast for the crows and Dance with the dragons and started to fuck up timeline already in season 3, so no matter what george told there was no chance of giving the series a satisfying conclusion
Even then, the way the show was "ended" could still be "revived" to fit the rest of the content into the world, but its basically game of thrones, the show itself could be renewed under a new title, with the complete lore in tow.
A more likely theory is that George RR Martin gave the correct original ending to the series. They used the show as a test run, and now he's scrambling to rewrite the ending before dying because no one liked it. Originally things happened exactly as they did in the show. Euron, Aegon, the others, all jobbed hard within the span of a few pages, and got quickly solved as problems, then it ends with Jon killing Danny and then fucking off.
Listening to this long thread, and I've heard about "Faegon", and the question, "Why would Varys lie to Kevan?" I can think of a couple of reasons, but the only one that matters is that Varys has been preparing this story for many years now. He has no reason to confide particularly in Kevan, in the sense of genuinely unburdening himself. Indeed, this is the exact moment when his ideals and his mummery will thrust themselves upon the world with violence and rage and conviction. Can that really be the time, then, when Varys burbles everything small and pathetic and menial about his plan? Hardly. Kevan is the first Westerosi to hear Varys's lies spoken aloud. The Spider is testing them in the air with another living (dying) soul. He may even, just possibly, want to believe that it's true.

I'll say this regarding R+L=J and the "too obvious" solution being Rhaegar and Lyanna:
If it makes sense, is satisfying, and the reader could put that together, then obvious isn't an issue.
The issue comes from the writers thinking that "too obvious" is a bad thing because "we gotta keep the reader guessing! A mystery is only fun when the solution comes out of nowhere and no one could have predicted it!"
The most satisfying part of a plot twist isn't the twist itself, but the audience going either "I KNEW IT" or "I SHOULD HAVE SEEN THAT COMING."
Some ASOIAF veterans said it's never been very obvious, show reveal change it and i'm totally agree with you
That, and so many people now say R+L=J is obvious only because we've had what, 10 YEARS since the last book? Even if you haven't watched the show, there's almost 2 million words of material ripe for us to find theories in.

Everything about this is just *chefs kiss*
And if this theory is true then the valenquar prophecy could mean someone els aswell

I think he truly believes it, and they've made sure this is so because then he can never give up the game because he doesn't know there is one.
i think this behavior from varys is set up by Littlefingers advice to sansa about living the lie
I came here to see if someone else had made this point, and I agree with you completely; it came straight into my mind as soon as ASX mentioned the whole "why tell him" - Varys is trying to convince himself to some degree.

For an extinct house, there are a lot of Targaryens if half of these theories are true

@@CoRLex-jh5vx I think Griff dyes his hair because Valyrian hair is a _dead_ giveaway (mostly a giveaway for likely being rich and influential, to the average person; more likely to be harassed by muggers I guess).

The mystery of whether pie or wine was poisoned was never cleared up.
I would have liked to see Tywin instructing Qyburn to investigate it.
Lol yeah...geniuses...

You can't clap with your friends at a bar for a Valanquar my man. Plus I think it's just because Cersei kind of forgot about the Valanquar

The rest all seem to be part of the same cave network, except for Winterfell, which is only possibly part of it. Schwifty, please come home. Your family misses you. They’re worried about you.
A theory that I've come up with:
Craster is Maegor Targaryen, the missing infant son of Prince Aerion Targareyen and Daenora Targaryen.
Maegor was born in around 232 AC; looking at Craster's portrayal in the TV show, this would make him around the same age.
Craster's official back story states:
"Craster is the bastard son of a man of the Night's Watch and a wildling woman from the village of Whitetree. His father abandoned his mother after Craster was conceived, and when his mother tried to bring him to Castle Black, she was chased off by members of the Watch. His father's name is never mentioned."
It's interesting that the time frame when Craster would have been born the maester at the Wall would have been a young Aemon Targaryen (baby Maegor's uncle) and the Lord Commander was Brynden Rivers (baby Maegor's great great uncle).
I believe it

@@lurksnitchtongue8986 when does Cersei hear the valonqar prophesy? In immediate response to a question about her children. The valonqar is the little brother of her children, not her siblings. I thought the same too but Tyrion born in 273, a year before, in 272, there was a "anniversary tourney" to celebrate the 10 years of King Aerys ruling the kingdom, Joanna assisted and Aerys made uncomfortable comments about her breast, but it is theorized that Aerys took advantage of Joanna and that's why Tywin try to resign the job of hand of the king the next day.
also wouldn't that make him a bastard, hence Blackfyre?
Never heard anyone speculate that Cersei might lose her foot from infection but that's very interesting. Love the idea of that symbolism.
@@roblewis8227 thanks!
I'd like to point out that UnTommen is a supplement to Valonqar Tommen (I've only ever seen UnTommen in Valonqar-related discussions so likely that's the reason the theory even came to be)
In this context the scene you described at 1:52:53 gets even darker, if Tommen dies under similar circumstances as in the show (kills himself from grief over something directly caused by Cersei), then he might come back with a strong hateful grudge against Cersei; and as she clutches him to her, drowning in tears of joyful delusion, he wraps his hands around her throat (with a strong zombie grip) and fulfills the prophecy.
"I wanna speedrun one more iceberg" he says, 2 hours into a 7 hour video
That’s from the first video which was 2.5 hours. This combines two videos.
That's interesting
I was about to laugh, but this is pretty poetic. I'm behind this now.
@@narlabegins right? It's a bit corny but as a metaphor, I'm still kind of behind it.

Awesome
Or maybe they know or are the cause of the Doom of Valaria
Egg just got the recipe for blood sacrifice from those same scrolls that Aerys I was reading during Dunk & Egg and knew that only death can pay for life and blood was required but not any blood, king's blood(Targaryen blood)
The same elements that Dany had during the birth of the dragons were present in Summerhall:
-Targaryen blood (king's blood), Daenerys burned there but also his unborn child remains were there, in the case of Egg in the World book says that the blood of the dragon was summoned there and we all know about all the Targs present there.
-"Holy blood". Daenerys burned Mirri Maz Duur with them, Egg had a bunch of septons and also the Ghost of High Heart there but she survived (I talk about the "holy blood" because apparently Euron is collecting also holy men for some kind of ritual) and,
- Of course, some dragon eggs.
@@luciamota1249 let me ask you something when do you think we will get the full summerhall story in the books, fireandblood or dunk and egg?
All 7 hours took 4 gym sessions and 2 hiking adventures on the weekend. Thank you for this!!!!❤
The best explanation for "the others aren't evil" is just that they were created to defend the children of the forest from the first men.
@@tite93 i don't think it was literal laughter, just a custom of their species, it wasn't playing with him rather it was just wary
I like thinking about them as so something so disconnected from everything human it makes no sense trying to analyze them, plus their design (in books) is so goddamn cool
Ned DID help Ayra tho
he helped by feedin her with his pigeon body lol
oof
The best thing is Arya catch this pigeon before Ned's death, and somebody steal it.
The omega-meta theory:
GRRM lied to Dan and Dave in their planning meeting on purpose, and the show past season 5 was actually just flat out wrong, basically a fan fiction.
Smells like cope
Even then, the way the show was "ended" could still be "revived" to fit the rest of the content into the world, but its basically game of thrones, the show itself could be renewed under a new title, with the complete lore in tow.
This is just the snyder cut for GoT fans
A more likely theory is that George RR Martin gave the correct original ending to the series. They used the show as a test run, and now he's scrambling to rewrite the ending before dying because no one liked it. Originally things happened exactly as they did in the show. Euron, Aegon, the others, all jobbed hard within the span of a few pages, and got quickly solved as problems, then it ends with Jon killing Danny and then fucking off.
7 hours of this after getting back into ASOIAF lately (and sadly getting my hopes up for TWOW). Gods bless you, Alt Schwift X, enemy of Alt Shift X.
Or maybe Varys is telling a lie just in case Kevin lives somehow.

In regards to the love potion theory: if Tywin was scheming to take down Rob in that sort of way, he would want to do it in a way that delegitimizes him as a king. If you just outright killed him then he'd be a martyr and you risk rallying more of the North to his cause. But if he dies at the hands of other Northerners for disrespecting their house then people are less likely to keep fighting for him. If true, it's a pretty ingenious 5D chess move.
Which is sort of what tywin is known for, aside from localized genocide lol. Who knows? Maegi married a westerman
