In the part of the Battle of Ice, you incorrectly state the “Night Lamp Theory” is of using the light of the actual watchtower to lure the Freys into the frozen lake. In actuality, what the Sistermen do is create fake lights that look like the actual lighthouses in the distance on the rocks of their island home, to lure ships to crashing into said rocks, thus taking their loot. What is Stannis’ real plan is, as indicated in Cantuse’s post and the Sistermen’s usual acts, is the usage of the Weirwood tree on the larger lake. This would be burned and from a distance, look like the village’s watchtower. This would lead the opposing army (Freys) onto that large frozen lake, to then be destroyed by the use of catapults built by the wood of the trees and the stones of the tower, sending the enemy army into a cold watery grave. The rest is spot on from what I can tell and I appreciate the video, but I want to clarify the Night Lamp theory in your analysis as it was incorrectly stated. TLDR: The Weirwood Tree will be the false light watchtower, tricking the enemy army into crossing the frozen lake only to sink into it by Stannis’ catapults.
@@Adrian-D-Rivera Good clarification, and I should have made this more clear. I do not want to misrepresent his original theory. The original theory does suggest the weirwood tree and larger lake will be used instead of the watchtower. I personally think the theory still works in a much more simpler form: lighting a beacon atop the watchtower (perhaps "Lightbringer" itself, which can burn very brightly) which lures the Freys across the smaller lake. I also am unsure if the catapults will be necessary, given the repeated mentions of the ice already starting to break due to so many holes being carved into it. I think the weight of the Frey army will be enough to break the ice. I just didn't want to bore viewers by explaining both Cantuse's original, more-detailed theory versus the simplification I went with. So to be very clear to anyone else reading: the idea for the Night Lamp theory comes from Cantuse. Like all major theories, many variations and tweaks exist. He deserves full credit for the existence of the theory and his original work; I just opted for a simpler version for this video. I'd recommend reading Cantuse's theory directly since it can go into so much lengthier detail than the portion of this video I dedicated to the theory. Thanks again for pointing that out.
@@CrusaderChrisTotally get simplifying that, understood and clear. Thanks for replying, and thanks for not being upset, not my intention to be annoying, just want to be clear on the theory is all. It is also likely that it will be simpler as you have said, but we’ll have to wait until the Winds to come out to truly know.
I think the whole thing about Stannis saying you might hear I'm dead is that he and Melisandre have seen Jon's death in the flames. Stannis thinks it's him and Mel isn't sure if it's him or Jon. Somehow Stannis faking his death seems odd to me.
@spencertherren6806 it definitely would be if he finished it. But he doesn't seem to understand that and would rather work on spin offs off nonsense like YiTi and dunk and egg
This is the first time I’ve heard the theory of the mutineers tampering or being involved with the pink letter. It really makes a lot of sense that they might try to make the letter more inflammatory in order to provoke Jon into doing something rash, giving them an opportunity to strike. Amazing video, keep up the good work!
and it does make alot more sense that they might have sent it since that letter contains way too much information in it that ramsay wouldn't know...like how would he know about mance even if he caught him?
The mutineers theory is brilliant but I think it's Mance, Stannis and Theon who wrote the original. He forgot that Mance is the only name that's on the bloody letter. I'm not even sure if Theon may be led away by Mance the charmer and just sent it.
@@stevenhedge2850 The problem is, how do the muteeners know that Mance is still alive or about his spear wives? The fact that Mance was not burned is only known to three people- jon, melisandre and mance himself. Don't think the mutineers would have secretly witnessed the magic and would only reveal it at this very end, that's not GRRM would do. So, though I lile the possibility of them tampering it, I still think the letter was written by Mance first and then later tampered by the mutineers(least probably).
The only way, someone could mentione Reek, Fake Arya, Mance and his spearwives would only either by Mance himself as he has witnessed Theon in Winterfell or it is Ramsay Bolton who has acquired all the information by torturing mance or his spearwives. The mutineers hardly have any possibility of knowing those things. So, the letter was either written by Mance(there are several theories on why it is Mance most likely and not theon or stannis or anyone else) or Ramsay(which most readers reject) and later might have been modifed by the mutineers to provoke Jon(though very unlikely).
Melisandre believes herself to be as mortal as anyone else. She believes she has no magical powers of her own, and that it all comes from the Lord of Light.
She believes correctly. She is akin to a wired computer that was upgraded to a battery operated robot that runs on a battery. It can do cool shit because of new limbs and sensors along with having mobility now, but without a higher being to put the battery in and recharge it, it can't do anything and will eventually die if it doesn't occasionally plug itself back in for a recharge. Also the creator can remotely lock or unlock the new mods at any time but you can unlock new features yourself manually if you stumble upon how to do it. Not perfect but... explaining magic isn't exactly a science.
No. Melisandre does believes she has “magical powers” insofar that she believes that she is able to correctly identify special and unique individuals, while nobody else seems to be able to.

I still refuse to believe Stannis would willingly sacrifice his daughter, even to save the world from the white walkers. He already had this argument with Davos. A single life is worth the world, especially if its your beloved daughter!
What if she volunteers because her Grayscale resurges dooming her and threatening others and when they burn her they give her a gallon of milk of the poppy before hand. Still very sad but if they just burn an innocent girl I think I might start rooting for the white walkers.
He was willing to burn edric to be king. He’s not beyond child sacrifice. If he feels humanity is doomed, and genuinely believes he’s azor ahai, he’d be willing to do it
The way it went down in the show was just bad and completely ruined stannis but I do see Val or Melisandre killing her in order to bring him back behind stannis back
I disagree. Stannis values duty above all else, and the duty of a king is to protect his kingdom and subjects. If the death of his daughter is the price, he’d pay it. He killed his own brother because duty demanded it, his daughter wouldn’t be any different in his eyes. It’d be a hard choice, but for Stannis Baratheon duty comes above all else.

And there’s a tragic ouroboros that comes from Arya pretending to be ‘Arya’, having lost the ability to genuinely be herself somewhere along the way.
I only see Stannis burning Shireen if he was absolutely forced to, which could happen if the greyscale awakens and spreads. But even then I don't think it'll be connected to Jon's resurrection. I suspect Ghost will be the death that pays for his life, and that the Jon who comes back will be far more wild and aggressive than he was before. I just don't know how Stannis would burn his daughter unless things were extremely dire. So far all we've learned from Stannis is that he wouldn't be very willing to burn her. He even plans on her ruling after him if he dies and wants his supporters to then shift their support for her instead
The Justin Massey section is just perfect, though I think Mel and the Florents at the wall will burn Shireen thinking Stannis dead, and that would bring back Jon
Great video!! I don’t necessarily agree with every prediction but it’s so fun to hear everyone’s theories hope we get Winds soon to confirm what’s true soon
Man the northern plot and Stannis is what I care about the most about for the winds of winter. Essos, Jaime, Euron, King’s Landing and Dorne are all interesting plots but the north is what stands out to me.
I know it will probably happen, but I just hate the idea of Stannis himself ordering the burning of Shireen. But I long ago started to believe that whatever George will manage to publish in Winds, it will be a really big letdown. 13 years, and counting, is too much time for people to theorize and try to come up with the continuation of the story. Inevitably, most reader's theories may prove utterly or partly false, leaving them dissapointed. I don't think Martin can complete the series in a satisfying way. I truly hope I am wrong about this, but the years of wait seemingly made me too bitter to hope.
What a phenomenal video. I love how understated but completely logical and sensible thewe ideas are. While many of even my favourite and best theroists can oft get a bit sensational in their ideas, and miss out the importance of the minutiae of how one may go from A to B. You lay everything out really succinctly, in ways which don't deviate from what we expect of certain characters, where other theories do, even if likely correct, and seem very much so in the head and on the lines of the sort of steps George seems to take when writing and navigating stories. . . Organically. I wouldn't be surprised if this ended up being a massively accurate synopsis of what we're going to see in the North throughout the next book. Even though lots of questions seem so open ended and unanswerable, that's just cos we've had too much time to overcomplicate things and miss what is stating us in the face. So the way you formulate most of these ideas, even if many are ideas already circulating through the community, is very commendable and I really enjoyed it. A definite Sub from me and I hope you can build your notoriety 😁
One of the best videos ives watched about all the moving pieces in the north going into The Winds of Winter. I would definitely enjoy a video similar to this about what's going on in the Crownlands and Dorne.
By all means, please keep up the nerdyness of this format, its probably very demanding but it looks worth the effort. Your research and presentation are spot on, and the map you are using really enhanced the appeal. Theres an obvious deficit of Australian accent but your role model must be proud of your work nevertheless
I do not think GRRM's plans are binding. Keep in mind that when he started writing, that he planned for Jaime to be the big villain and for Jon to have a romantic relationship with Arya. He changes his mind constantly.
It’s worth noting that in the books rhaegar didn’t get an annulment, so Jon would still technically be a bastard and have no actual claim to the iron throne.
OMG OMG OMG.... I have just finished the books, after re-watching the show a thousand times. Throughout ACOK & ASOS, I kept thinking "Melisandre is on the money" and in fact, the one time Stannis truly suffered defeat was when Davos persuaded Stannis to leave her behind for the Batlle of The Blackwater. Now given how she ended up being so wrong in the show about Stannis, I kept wondering how can she be so right in most of her interpretations/predictions yet end up being so wrong about him. But the theory you've presented about waking dragons from stone actually validates the idea that Stannis is in fact Azor Ahai. He's literally sacrificing his only living heir (and probably the only person in this world he truly loves). Holy fuck! And how poetically and terrifyingly tragic.
best vid iv seen since ALT SHIFT (not that its a competition) i knew some of this stuff but i genuinely didn't know about the differences of the pink letter. GREAT WORK TBH.
Dropping in to say, you did really well with this type of video. Would love to see another like it. Maybe one about the south next? Aegon’s Invasion, Cersei, the Faith, Euron, etc.
It's always summer, under the sea I know, I know, oh, oh, oh The birds have scales, and the fish take wing I know, I know, oh, oh, oh The rain is dry, and the snow falls up I know, I know, oh, oh, oh The stones crack open, the water burns The shadows come to dance, my lord The shadows come to play The shadows come to dance, my lord The shadows come to stay
This video is absolutely brilliant, it really helps sum up every north plotline to help how twow can go. I do kinda hate that stannis will die/doom himself and will probably not see ados but honestly hearing all the theories on how he will win the war, i do want him to survive. If I didnt think that the wall will fall during the wars, i would back up the theory of stannis as the 1000th commander of night's watch. Alas, i do hope at the very least he has an honorable death, despite his decision to burn shireen.
My theory is that Melisandre misinterpreting the Lightbringer and Azor Ahai prophecy is meant to happen in order for Stannis to burn Shireen which allows Jon's ressurection, that way it fulfillls Stannis's part of the prophecy despite Melisandre thinking him to be the saviour against the Others or something, and it also fulfills the waking dragons from stone part (or something like that)...
I like the fact that direwolf are so importnant to starks and the second robb and Jon lock away ghost and greyghost bad things and deaths happens and their last word were names of their direwolves. Like the last thoughts were like “oh no I locked out my protector and now I’m fcked.” Probably they warged into their wolfs…
Man, itd be fucking wild if you did one of these for the South. Id love to hear your thoughts on what Euron's plans could entail, as well as how you think JonCon and Aegon will approach their invasion moving forward. Terrific work mate ❤
Melisandre keeps seeing "Snow" when looking for Azor Ahai. If she puts 2 and 2 together and figures it out she'll have no qualms about bringing him back with kingsblood. Val's baby is not even at Castle Black, so it wouldn't work. An imposter baby wouldn't cut it and Mel would likely sense that.
Loved this format and all the content you delivered. Would love to something like this again assuming we don’t run totally dry of content to overanalyze before TWoW releases 💀
GRRM gave us all blue balls. I kinda stopped watching ASOIAF videos because i realised the author hasn’t finished the books, and some are saying he might not. I was soo invested, and i still am, but this is just soo good i want the books now or soon😂. These videos hype me up and torture me at the same time.
Absolutely awsome video!!! I guess we can all agree: Stannis beeing dead and still having to go back to the Wall to sacrifice his daughter seems to be a good indicator of SOMETHING 😅
I think Stannis is going to surprise us and defeat the Bolton's. Then it will be a matter of how they go about reinstating the Starks. Great video either way and it's very intriguing to see everything that is going on. I might have to go back and re-read the books myself, because it's been a while and who knows if we'll ever get the final 2 books.
It's really fascinating how the north is essentially just the wall for the first 2 books. Stannis showing up, the aftermath of the red wedding, Ramsay's marriage. Suddenly it's equally as important as every other region
Awsome video. Hopefully, Bran is NOT king, and Shreen does not get burned. that would suck. Oh, and GRRM leaves John a bastard, still a targ/ stark, but a bastard. Makes John a much better character, and proves not all bastards are without honor. Just my thoughts.
In a way Jon proves that by existing as one since he and most of the world believe it regardless of his true parentage. I think Jon has to have some Stark blood no matter what. So he'd either be Lyana or Ned's bastard if that's true and I feel like he has so many hints setting him up as connected to other bloodlines like the Targaryans.
I've waited 20 years for the finish of Harry Potter. I'm willing to wait much longer for the finish of this wretched story of GRRM. My excitement is going through the roof right now...
42:00 I'm actually for the opinion that they just outright wrote the letter considering how close the arrival of the letter and the assassination of Jon Snow was.
The funniest part about the Night Lamp theory to me is that Wyman Manderly is going to accidentally avoid Stannis' trap with the frozen lakes because when the Freys give the signal to charge the Manderly soldiers are all just going to hold their positions (likely being on opposite sides of Stannis' army in an attempt to surround him). Manderly needs to switch sides, but if he charges in to back up Stannis, Stannis will think they're attacking him. So Wyman needs to hold position and send an envoy. It'll only be after they send an envoy to Stannis that they realise he's already annihilated the Freys and doesn't even need Manderly's help with them.

The Justin Massey section is just perfect, though I think Mel and the Florents at the wall will burn Shireen thinking Stannis dead, and that would bring back Jon
I loved this!!! Can’t wait to dig into your catalog and see more of this later
Some brilliant works gone into this. Thanks.
Great video!! I don’t necessarily agree with every prediction but it’s so fun to hear everyone’s theories hope we get Winds soon to confirm what’s true soon
Love the long format video, I definitely want more of these type
Man the northern plot and Stannis is what I care about the most about for the winds of winter. Essos, Jaime, Euron, King’s Landing and Dorne are all interesting plots but the north is what stands out to me.
When people talk about Winds taking too long. I point to this, like the amount of plot points to tie up in one book alone is insane.
I know I'm late but an hour long video!! This is what I've been waiting for!! Keep up the great work!
Crusader please continue this style of videos.
How can you mention Beric dying giving Stoneheart life but not mention Thoros giving Beric life multiple times without dying even once?
Channel is underrated af. Amazing sit through.
I’ve genuinely never heard the theory of Howland being in the crypts to talk to Jon. Him having Ned’s bones makes sense and I really like this idea!
chaos in series PLEASE CONTINUE ITS SO GOOD IVE WATCHED THESE LIKEN500 times
Thank you so much for devoting time to produce this lengthy piece of work for us to enjoy! Keep ‘em coming!
I don't have time to give all my thoughts right now, but I just wanted to say I thoroughly enjoyed this video, well done 👍🏼
This is perfect ! You're concise, clear, it is visually pleasing and you have a nice voice for narration.
By all means, please keep up the nerdyness of this format, its probably very demanding but it looks worth the effort. Your research and presentation are spot on, and the map you are using really enhanced the appeal. Theres an obvious deficit of Australian accent but your role model must be proud of your work nevertheless
God I love maps.... As soon as I saw that map of the north in the very start, I subbed
This is the first video I've seen on your channel. Certainly won't be the last. Great video!
Love it. Just crushed through all your videos in the last few days. 🎉
I cannot see Stannis burning his daughter. If that sacrifice needs to be made in his mind, he will burn himself first.
Azor Ahai killed the person Who loved more .
Not himself
best vid iv seen since ALT SHIFT (not that its a competition) i knew some of this stuff but i genuinely didn't know about the differences of the pink letter. GREAT WORK TBH.
What an incredibly high quality video, the pink letter brothers theory is fresh and honestly makes alot of sense. Keep it up :)
Great video mate, really love your channel
Thank you
Dropping in to say, you did really well with this type of video. Would love to see another like it. Maybe one about the south next? Aegon’s Invasion, Cersei, the Faith, Euron, etc.
i never get tired of the new rockstars thumbnail bit lmaooo
I love these long form TWOW videos you’ve been making, and I especially love the Castle Black map you made. Just great stuff
Awesome video. A video like this on Mereen, Eastern Essos, The Reach, Dorne, and Thw Riverlands, and The Crownlands would be great.
Barely halfway through, but I love this format and the predictions made here
It's always summer, under the sea
I know, I know, oh, oh, oh
The birds have scales, and the fish take wing
I know, I know, oh, oh, oh
The rain is dry, and the snow falls up
I know, I know, oh, oh, oh
The stones crack open, the water burns
The shadows come to dance, my lord
The shadows come to play
The shadows come to dance, my lord
The shadows come to stay
This was an excellent breakdown of the content. Loved it!
Perhaps in the time it takes for Jon to be resurrected, his hair turns a silver white, like a Targaryen.
This video is my favorite one of yours that I've seen so far. Good shit
Honestly the thing I am looking for the most when the new books hit is the difference you’ll get for the northern story.
This was awesome. Would be great if you could do another video like this for the south of westeros as well
Yes Chris coming with the full hour video keep ot up!!
I love your videos. Best Ice and Fire TH-camr next to Alt Shift X!
Thank you, that’s very high praise
Looove the video. Probably the best one on the northern plot likes yet
Man, itd be fucking wild if you did one of these for the South. Id love to hear your thoughts on what Euron's plans could entail, as well as how you think JonCon and Aegon will approach their invasion moving forward.
Terrific work mate ❤
More of this pls i love longform lore to put on during the day
Keep up with these long and detailed theories
Love these longform videos. Great analysis of the text
Excellent video, subscribing and excited for more stuff like this!
I pray you'll tackle EVERY major plotline in the south 🙏🏾 Especially King's Landing 🙏🏾
Very solid and thorough...great video ❤
Absolutely awsome video!!! I guess we can all agree:
Stannis beeing dead and still having to go back to the Wall to sacrifice his daughter seems to be a good indicator of SOMETHING 😅
This video is incredibly well done. Earned yourself a sub
I really enjoy your videos! I hope your channel grows a lot more in the future, you deserve it!
This was awesome Chris! I love your content its such high quality, I hope your channel continues to get more exposure.
Thank you
It's really fascinating how the north is essentially just the wall for the first 2 books. Stannis showing up, the aftermath of the red wedding, Ramsay's marriage. Suddenly it's equally as important as every other region
Absolutely love this. Beautifully done.
This video was amazing! Please please do similar ones with other areas
Great work, this was a very enjoyable video.
I've waited 20 years for the finish of Harry Potter. I'm willing to wait much longer for the finish of this wretched story of GRRM. My excitement is going through the roof right now...
harry potter didn't have to wait 20 years bro
I love videos like this but also hate them lol. They get me so hyped for a book that never coming out 😅
Horned Goats!? Wait! That's Torrent from Elden Ring!
I finally found it! THAT'S What Martin added to the game! XD
42:00 I'm actually for the opinion that they just outright wrote the letter considering how close the arrival of the letter and the assassination of Jon Snow was.
I love this because i need any kind of speculation on twow I'm starving 😭 and poor hodor. I'm surprised you didn't bring up the jojen paste
Loved this need more while we wait another 5 years for WOW
great review, thanks for the upload!
