Re: Frey pies. Wyman Manderly is a stickler for guest right, but... there are technicalities. He gave the missing Freys horses as guest gifts, a custom that is no longer universally followed in Westeros, thus formally ending the host/guest relationship and basically making them fair game for revenge. He also brought his own provisions when he brought his men to Winterfell, so he hasn't eaten any of Roose Bolton's bread and salt...

I am 100% in favor of an animated ASOIF adaptation. If they do it, then it needs to be book accurate and not just an animated version of GoT. That way they can do the magical aspects of the story without needing 80 billion for an FX budget. They can actually do the Lady Stoneheart story, as well as having actual scale for the Mountain, the Hound, Robert Baratheon... Etc. The way they appear in the book rather than making do with live action actors who can't possibly be accurate. If they did it in the style of the animated DC movies, I think it would be a smashing success.
Jon Snow resurection theory: Lady Stoneheart revives him the same way Beric revived her. By giving him life, she's basically becoming the mother she wasn't in her previous life.

My favourite theory that I never see mentioned is that Craster was the one thing holding the White Walkers back. The White Walkers made a deal with someone, probably the Nights King that they were to be given living human babies as tribute to prevent them attacking. Craster was the last person maintaining this deal.
The explanation I tend to go with is that Bloodraven isn't specifically sending directed messages to Bran. It's more of general call to anyone who might have the power. There's some belief Euron also got the call, but it flipped him out. The crow is simply how the messenger appears to Bran and is something Bloodraven isn't in control of. Another person might see it as something different.
I always saw the stench of Tywin’s corpse as an allusion to the death of William the Conqueror. There are a few similarities. Both men struggled with family legacy, Tywin having his relationship with his incest kids and the dwarf reflection of himself who he despises, while William spent the last half of his reign waging war with his son. When William died, his body bloated, and when they tried to fit it into his tomb he burst due to some internal gasses I think. The stench was apparently so repulsive that it filled the whole church. That’s always what I think of when I hear about Tywin’s death.

Winter is coming means that since the Night King was a Stark and married the "winter lady", the Stark made winter come. It's just a boast that they're good lovers.

Seeing as most prophecies in ASOIAF seem to come true in unexpected ways; I think that the Dothraki Crones’ ‘stallion that mounts the world’ prophecy will come true, not through Rhaego, but through Drogon. In a way, Drogon was born of Danaerys and Khal Drogo, seeing as Drogo’s death was likely part of the blood magic that helped birth the dragon eggs. The dragon being named for him creates another facet of Drogo’s involvement in the birth. I think Drogon is the prophecised ‘child’ of Danaerys and Khal Drogo.
That would be the biggest plot twist, that a character is just who they appear to be. He's just some tall dude because Westeros has more than one tall person.

Thinking about your light bringer Azor Ahai/dragon taming thing, and thinking about the most famous sacrifice in the books so far- Dany tries and fails to sacrifice a horse for Drogo. When that fails, she then decides to sacrifice herself on a pyre, but that fails, too, and the dragons are born instead. Is she simultaneously Azor Ahai and Nissa Nissa, and has already created her own Lightbringer (ie her dragons)? That would switch up a trope/offer a twist in a way George would like and play into his whole idea that magic is tricky and doesn't always work in a straightforward way. People think it's Jon stabbing Dany or something, but the sacrifice having already taken place would be cool. Do they need additional magic swords when Valyrian steel seems to do the trick?
I think Melisandre's chapter implies she isn't quite like Berric. It's not that she died and was ressurected and then boom fire-wight, it seems as she practices her craft as a red preist she sort of slowly becomes like a fire wight, and that's why she is very old and doesn't need to eat and barely needs to sleep. By the time of the main series, she's *almost* there IMO.
I love how show watchers are gunna pick up TWOW to see what happens to Khaleesi and are instead met with Euron Greyjoy literally being a demon and summoning dark powers from the deep. I honestly think TWOW is going to be so good, but it's going to get a bad reception

I’ve always loved the idea of the Stark words “Winter is Coming” actually being a threat / boast of Stark power, having its origins in some kind of Stark / Other alliance or potentially even the earliest kings of winter simply having more knowledge and control over their ice and warging magics
What if Coldhands is Brynden's body and mind having warged into a random corpse? What if the trees have taken on Brynden's form but the real Brynden is inside a corpse? It would match the prior way GRRM writes about hiveminds. What if what we know of as 'Bloodraven' is just something that stole his form and is using his form to bring about humanity's extinction as a bioweapon?
I would say that Littlefinger DOES pretty much make it up as he goes along, as you put it. I see Baelish and Varys as being polar opposites in terms of their strategy: Varys has this grand master plan, puppeteering Dany, Viserys, Drogo, furthering WotFK, whereas we see several times where Littlefinger explores several options at once, such as with Ned and Cersei in book 1, or (and I know this is show only) when he speaks to Catelyn, Renly, AND Margaery about their own separate plots, playing every side for his own benefit. Varys is meticulous, Littlefinger is opportunistic. Varys plays the long game, Littlefinger is more concerned with the short term, creating chaos and playing it to his advantage.

“Mel has Davos’s Luck” Idk but I think theory refers to the idea that either she or one of her supporters will glamor themselves as Davos, probably in order to counsel Stannis (and more than likely to convince him to make a bad decision).
You should make a tier list of your favourite game of thrones theories. It doesn't have to be ranked on what is most plausible, but what you think thematically and story wise is most enjoyable/satisfying (ie Season 8 Twists would be below F tier as narrative beats for example)
The longer george waits to release Winds the more we descend into the pit of despair and iceberg theories, slowly losing grasp on reality while contemplating every possible outcome all at once. What if WE are the three eyed raven? Did we get absolutely pranked by george?
I think Penny's role in the story is to demonstrate how he hasn't completely broken bad yet. On multiple occasions he goes out of his way to keep Penny alive, when it would have been much easier for him and Jorah to ditch her as soon as possible. Her performing act did become instrumental in keeping Tyrion alive later but he had no way of knowing that in their early journey. I think Tyrion either killing Penny or letting her get killed will be a crucial part of his arc when he completely abandons any pretence that he's a good person. Or perhaps it will be when he abandons his self loathing. He'll think, "fuck it, I'm a monster and I'm gonna own it rather than hate myself". That would serve as a fucked up parallel to what Jaime did when everyone hated him for killing Aerys, so he formed his personality as someone who didn't care what anyone thought and would do any horrible thing.
This came out at midnight for me last night. I saw it and went LET'S GO! Fell asleep 2 hours in and thought I'd wake up today to finish off whatever I nodded off for and I find 3 MORE HOURS! Best way to start a morning
Regarding the identity of the harpy, I thought the show missed a cool opportunity to bring back Xaro Xhoan Daxos. It's not unbelievable if he had some kind of contingency plan for the safe, a secret exit or an employee to open it etc. Might have been fun

He gave the missing Freys horses as guest gifts, a custom that is no longer universally followed in Westeros, thus formally ending the host/guest relationship and basically making them fair game for revenge. To add to the grave digger theory, every named horse is named after an aspect of their owner that is lost during the story; Dancer (Bran), Smiler (Theon), Honour and Glory (Jamie), and Sandor’s horse Stranger (the god of death). Having a notorious warrior become a peaceful monk would show him losing his relationship with death/killing.

I am 100% in favor of an animated ASOIF adaptation. If they do it, then it needs to be book accurate and not just an animated version of GoT. That way they can do the magical aspects of the story without needing 80 billion for an FX budget. They can actually do the Lady Stoneheart story, as well as having actual scale for the Mountain, the Hound, Robert Baratheon... Etc. The way they appear in the book rather than making do with live action actors who can't possibly be accurate. If they did it in the style of the animated DC movies, I think it would be a smashing success.
And the character can actually get mutilated.. Tyrion and Brienne specifically

My favourite theory that I never see mentioned is that Craster was the one thing holding the White Walkers back. The White Walkers made a deal with someone, probably the Nights King that they were to be given living human babies as tribute to prevent them attacking. Craster was the last person maintaining this deal.

Craster is not the hero we wanted but he is the one we needed.
The explanation I tend to go with is that Bloodraven isn't specifically sending directed messages to Bran. It's more of general call to anyone who might have the power. There's some belief Euron also got the call, but it flipped him out. The crow is simply how the messenger appears to Bran and is something Bloodraven isn't in control of. Another person might see it as something different.
I always saw the stench of Tywin’s corpse as an allusion to the death of William the Conqueror. There are a few similarities. Both men struggled with family legacy, Tywin having his relationship with his incest kids and the dwarf reflection of himself who he despises, while William spent the last half of his reign waging war with his son. When William died, his body bloated, and when they tried to fit it into his tomb he burst due to some internal gasses I think. The stench was apparently so repulsive that it filled the whole church. That’s always what I think of when I hear about Tywin’s death.

Seeing as most prophecies in ASOIAF seem to come true in unexpected ways; I think that the Dothraki Crones’ ‘stallion that mounts the world’ prophecy will come true, not through Rhaego, but through Drogon.
In a way, Drogon was born of Danaerys and Khal Drogo, seeing as Drogo’s death was likely part of the blood magic that helped birth the dragon eggs. The dragon being named for him creates another facet of Drogo’s involvement in the birth. I think Drogon is the prophecised ‘child’ of Danaerys and Khal Drogo.

Thinking about your light bringer Azor Ahai/dragon taming thing, and thinking about the most famous sacrifice in the books so far- Dany tries and fails to sacrifice a horse for Drogo. When that fails, she then decides to sacrifice herself on a pyre, but that fails, too, and the dragons are born instead. Is she simultaneously Azor Ahai and Nissa Nissa, and has already created her own Lightbringer (ie her dragons)? That would switch up a trope/offer a twist in a way George would like and play into his whole idea that magic is tricky and doesn't always work in a straightforward way. I think Melisandre's chapter implies she isn't quite like Berric. It's not that she died and was ressurected and then boom fire-wight, it seems as she practices her craft as a red preist she sort of slowly becomes like a fire wight, and that's why she is very old and doesn't need to eat and barely needs to sleep. By the time of the main series, she's *almost* there IMO.
I love how show watchers are gunna pick up TWOW to see what happens to Khaleesi and are instead met with Euron Greyjoy literally being a demon and summoning dark powers from the deep. I honestly think TWOW is going to be so good, but it's going to get a bad reception

I’ve always loved the idea of the Stark words “Winter is Coming” actually being a threat / boast of Stark power, having its origins in some kind of Stark / Other alliance or potentially even the earliest kings of winter simply having more knowledge and control over their ice and warging magics
What if Coldhands is Brynden's body and mind having warged into a random corpse? What if the trees have taken on Brynden's form but the real Brynden is inside a corpse? It would match the prior way GRRM writes about hiveminds. What if what we know of as 'Bloodraven' is just something that stole his form and is using his form to bring about humanity's extinction as a bioweapon?

I would say that Littlefinger DOES pretty much make it up as he goes along, as you put it. I see Baelish and Varys as being polar opposites in terms of their strategy: Varys has this grand master plan, puppeteering Dany, Viserys, Drogo, furthering WotFK, whereas we see several times where Littlefinger explores several options at once, such as with Ned and Cersei in book 1, or (and I know this is show only) when he speaks to Catelyn, Renly, AND Margaery about their own separate plots, playing every side for his own benefit. Varys is meticulous, Littlefinger is opportunistic. Varys plays the long game, Littlefinger is more concerned with the short term, creating chaos and playing it to his advantage.

You should make a tier list of your favourite game of thrones theories. It doesn't have to be ranked on what is most plausible, but what you think thematically and story wise is most enjoyable/satisfying (ie Season 8 Twists would be below F tier as narrative beats for example)

I think Penny's role in the story is to demonstrate how he hasn't completely broken bad yet. On multiple occasions he goes out of his way to keep Penny alive, when it would have been much easier for him and Jorah to ditch her as soon as possible. Her performing act did become instrumental in keeping Tyrion alive later but he had no way of knowing that in their early journey. I think Tyrion either killing Penny or letting her get killed will be a crucial part of his arc when he completely abandons any pretence that he's a good person.
Or perhaps it will be when he abandons his self loathing. He'll think, "fuck it, I'm a monster and I'm gonna own it rather than hate myself". That would serve as a fucked up parallel to what Jaime did when everyone hated him for killing Aerys, so he formed his personality as someone who didn't care what anyone thought and would do any horrible thing.
This came out at midnight for me last night. I saw it and went LET'S GO! Fell asleep 2 hours in and thought I'd wake up today to finish off whatever I nodded off for and I find 3 MORE HOURS! Best way to start a morning
Regarding the identity of the harpy, I thought the show missed a cool opportunity to bring back Xaro Xhoan Daxos. It's not unbelievable if he had some kind of contingency plan for the safe, a secret exit or an employee to open it etc. Might have been fun
i love your videos. i will say that ASOIAF fans seem to think that since one and a half times a character was somebody other than who they seemed, now every character in the series is also secretly someone else... like some kind of game of character possession musical chairs but i do see that its part of the fun of the books and GRRMs terrific writing.
