This is by far the best rugby match ever played. Even people who never watched rugby will be engaged from beginning to end.
Like me
This is a very awkward opinion, because only one team tried really to produce something, whereas the other one was sometimes "rotting" the attacks of the other and scored a stunning amount of points just by benefiting of silly errors. During the 2nd half, the game was too much "closed".
The real best game of this world cup was Ireland vs NZ : a bloody suspense too, pleasant attacking sequences from both sides, good passages of play from 1st to 80th (85th) minute, and above all, a consistent refering in the rucks.

It was beautiful 👏. It shows how in control South Africa was during that game. France tried their best, but the Springboks were streaks ahead.

@@DazBag78 typically yes, but not as much as defensively in this game. This was a deliberate, fast pace method against this French team. Libbok attack, then Pollard defence.
36:42 has got to be one of the most legendary moments in rugby history - calling the scrum on the mark. Thanks for including it on this video.
Beating DuPont at his own loophole!!! Unrivalled thinking from Rassie and the team, simply no other team was smart enough
@@pauljansen6650Or maybe brave enough, there's a reason scrums or not commonly done this way usually only via penalties (other than the obvious knock on). It tires players out, going from cardio workout to strength training is really effective in tiring a team out, look at how tired the French were especially that substitute prop who lost the ball in that last play. He was so gassed he did'nt even want the ball, he pointed to his teamate. Compare this game to the previous SA-Fr with no scrums, yeah scrums really gave us a bit of a extra edge I reckon.

@@damienbothma9737 yet it can't be checked by TMO as it doesn't result in a try nor is it foul play. In some cases referees make mistakes but TMO can not be relied on for every detail or the game would be a farce. Accept the result and move on
Watching this is just pure pain. I know it was one of the best rugby match every played but as a french this bring me back to the abyssal state of sadness I was at the end. I hope we will get this good again..
I wouldn't be too upset about it. Spingbok player names are 40% French, so it's a little bit like playing your efrican cousins. Players like Eben Etzebeth, Peiter Steph du Toit, de Allende, le Roux, theres even a Frans and a Franco lol
I was technically neutral to this game, but this french team has been my true rugby love the past four years. I couldn't speak for the rest of the night after the loss. All I can say is to keep the hunger alive, your greatest players are all young and won't be going anywhere. Considering where you guys were just four years ago winning this world cup was a real high goal, 2027 is a way more realistic. I really do believe that the next world cup is yours.
Yeah, I remember how you guys went crazy on social media crucifying the ref. Accusing the Boks of somehow cheating too. Very painful

Looking at the last 10 minutes of this game the French just fell apart and it seems it was a combination of pressure and fitness. The Boks looked super comfortable playing at this intensity and were just managing the game.
To be honest, in the last 10 min, french players were very good and the south Africans were playing with the rules to the limit to stop french players to play correctly. It is very frustrating to see the no decision from the referee to give a penalty for France after all the game slowdown from SA
SA definitely had a better bench, and regarding fitness one additionnal week to rest before the match if I recall correctly

As a French supporter it's frustrating to have such a nicely built-up side, maybe the best french side so far, and still seeing them fall short. No disrespect to the other top 4 teams but I think this was the real RWC final, and it happened way too early in the competition. I question myself : why should the RWC draw take place 2 years prior to the event ? With a totally different WR ranking ? It had us see the top 4 teams in 2 groups, and led us to a really bizarre QF draw. (WAL v ARG ? Really ?)
Just like the french football team built on the euro 2016 final loss, I believe Galthié, Dupont, Alldritt and the u20RWC champs coming up will raise the bar even more and build a French Rugby Legacy like never before. We have a great squad coming and one day it will be us.
It is the best French team in my lifetime, and at a time where NZ are slightly off their best they just ran into unfortunately the best Bok side of my lifetime. Realistically I think SA were the only team that could have beat you in the WC, maybe Ireland as well but it would have to have been a very lucky day for them (as it was for us in some ways).
It should have been the final, what an unbelievable match, and of all the NH teams I would have been happiest for France to win it if it wasn't us. This is a young team as well, so hopefully they bounce back. But I also hope we can do 3 in a row in 2027!
My favorite game at the RWC😍🇿🇦🍻
Fascinating how SA exposed the French under the high ball twice in the first half both times resulting in tries. Such contestable 50/50 kicks had to be dealt with better by ideally the fullback or the French left winger. SA’s 3rd try to Kolbie also resulted from pressure creating a turnover and brilliant awareness of space by Jesse Kriel.

Funny how SA Bokke played with only South African born players in their squad while all the other RW international teams had players from other countries in their national RWC squads.
What is less funny is to see that racism is still going strong in SA.
Knowning that the only reason SA ever won anything in international rugby was to fight racism... one can only come to the conclusion that after more than 30 years... this isn't the way. World Rugby is a failure and needs to go.
SA should be kept out of international competition for the beauty of the game and the safety of the players. Pretty sure SA wouldn't mind because afterall playing rugby alone by herself between inbreeded is the only way they conceive life therefore this sport.
@@SachaVier the actual problem is SA communist goverment, sorry 'socialist'
Because rugby is the national sport in SA and in France and UK the best athletes tend to go towards soccer because you can earn so much more. Look at the athletes in England and French soccer leagues, they are very fast and very explosive.
Another interesting fact is that France is the only nation of the RWC with all of its players actually playing in clubs of their home country, France. The squads of all the other countries have players playing abroad.
The other country that has players only born in the country of origin is Argentina. The rest, especially the Europeans, nationalize people from the south. Really, without these nationalized people, they would not be able to compete as powers like South Africa. It's a bit sad that so many players are nationalized in my opinion.
Thanks for this, France took a knock physically and emotionally after the loss, you can clearly see that they are not the same team in the six nations.

16:11 and 16:50 Danty is clearly hit in the face by Du Toit (either head to head or shoulder to head). He is the vulnerable player as he is on the ground, and we see that he is getting treated for a head injury. How did the TMO miss that and how was that not a red I don't know. Cherry on the cake Dupont asks the referee to review the play and he denies him that request even though there was clearly foul play
O'Keefe clearly says "Do not ask me for that, TMO checked, no foul play", either the TMO did not check (I do not blame them it was hard to spot on live play) and O'Keefe is lying (we do not hear him have a conversation we the TMO regarding that play), or the TMO is blatantly incompetent. In any case the play should have been reviewed, we have got all the time in the world no need to rush and instead it was rushed the french captain was not heard and obviously this was controversial

As a French, it is impossible to criticize the referee without passing for a bad loser. The level of exchanges here is distressing. Even when the errors of arbitrations are of the level of amateur rugby matches, one cannot argue without being called all the names.
Incorrect. The law and bylaws doesn't stipulate no hands on the ground at a ruck. You are permitted but what you can't do is place your hands beyound the ball and draw your hands back to play the ball. That is a penalty. Smiths hands was one on the ball and one on the side of the ball making it a legal play for the ball.

With every RWC that passes, the fact the England won one looks more and more like an outlier or an exception to the norm. The sheer dominance of Southern Hemisphere teams is astonishing.
With Rassie staying on with the Boks and assembling an exciting group of assistant coaches.
Razor stepping into the ABs I fully expect the dominance to continue.
Razor is a scary prospect. I wish Fozzie had been coach for life at the ABs. So happy that Rassie has stayed on, he has really been a miracle worker. The dark days of 2017 were awful.
That said, the NH is making some strides, the French or Irish teams could have won it this time, and if they stay strong it'll be tough again in 2027. @@kevinrtresWhen was it checked ?
@@Jujuem8 TMO is involved in every play, if it was deemed foul play they would have called the ref to give penalty and card
@@Arramasta That's just not true, TMO is involved in every play for safety issues, but for the rest it is up to the main ref to call for TMO.
@@Jujuem8 If that's the case, I stand corrected.
What a game!!!
