    clutch topic a few weeks ago watching bream just sitting in current and how they relate to different parts of current and it was just so cool to observe how different fish moved how they fed what directing they faced etc

    Wading a creek has to be one of the most fun ways to fish. And so simple. Spinning rod and handfuls of baits is all you need

    my son caught a decent 4 lbs smallmouth bass yesterday right up current. maybe no more than 5 feet from where the current started. his first fish too we was both stoked about it. he talked about it the whole way back. 😂🤘🏻

    That's how I learned to Skip, was an undercut bank, 40 yrs ago, skipping was the Only Way to Present your baits in that current

    You are speaking my language , current is great to catch bass , we have tide here and the bass will stack up in the current if it’s not too strong but if it’s strong I will catch ‘em on the outside of the current , Venice has the Mississippi River current and it has a tidal current , I love to fish current !

    A Jig has quickly become my favorite bait ever, no matter what the situation a jig will catch bass!

      Agreed. When they bitin nothin I go to a jig n stick with it rest of the day

    • @brianwills4398

      Agreed, for years I hated jigs, I missed at least 50 percent of bites , I always used the wrong rod and never got a good hookset. The right rod makes a huge difference with jigs.

      @@brianwills4398 Just curious, swim jig, football? Flipping jig?
      What kind of jig is the go to jig

    • @brianwills4398

      @captainCA24 for me mostly swim and football, I had to switch up my rod to a heavy fast. I wasn't setting the hook hard enough with anything else. That and straight braid and my hooksets are much better

    • @Glock-1

      @@captainCA24 flipping jigs and swim jigs although you can swim any jig even if it’s not the best for it but you can swim any jig, I use the Untamed Tackle Ace jig for a flipping jig and a Beast Coast Gorilla swim jig which are only $3.99 at TW and they are the best I’ve ever used!

    I fish in Detroit river on occasion which has a very strong current. I haven’t had too much luck in the direct current however, small inlets are good.

    I fish a lot of tidal water, creeks and rivers. I recently started trout fishing and have found that they position differently than bass in current.

    I don’t fish rivers or reservoirs, but I have a spot at a bridge where the lake water (Lake Michigan) gets kind of blown into the harbor and then back out when the harbor water reaches a certain level. At least I think that’s what’s happening.

  • @adammitchell3462

    I tend to catch my bigger fish on the upper end of structure in current whereas you'd think they'd hide on the back side of that structure,where the current is less

    • @johnmiller5987

      Fish In feeding mode will work the upside of structure. While they go to the backside to rest and get out of the current. But not always. Depends on how much current

    The reason they feed on bottom in faster current is because the current is usually slower near bottom and faster on the surface.

    Did you buy a boat? Why not a used fiberglass.... an old Champion might be good.

    • @xr29fb32

      When it comes to buying a used fiberglass boat such as a Champion or other quality boat do you think the year range from 2000-2010 is too old? I’m not looking for anything fancy at all just functional. Do you think a fiberglass bass boat that is pushing 20-24 years old is too old? If it’s been well cared for this is. Just curious. Thanks.

    • @danielwalsh3423

      I think that would be good. I'm sure you could get an old Champion for a couple thousand bucks. Get a new 150hp outboard and trolling motor.
      I've had aluminum and fiberglas. Fiberglass is just better. Good Luck.
