He did love it….but he’s recorded as saying several times that Mary was actually his greatest love. Jim had to then leave of course after Freddie left Garden Lodge to her. Freddie also apparently said that Jim was seeing others well before he moved out. Their relationship clearly changed over a relatively short period of time. By then, Freddie was very Ill. 😢
@jupiter7627the fact is Hutton chose not to caregiver Freddie. That task was on Phoebe and Joe. He admitted it in verbal and print interviews. Hutton didn’t know Freddie’s medications nor was he told when Freddie decided to stop his meds. One of the few times Hutton watched Freddie he let him gag on mango for 1/2 an hour. Luckily Joe came home and was able to help Freddie bring it up. I mean WTH was wrong with JH letting that go on?
@@Powdermonkey720never heard the mango story before but I’m not surprised. No wonder Freddie always preferred Mary. I think Hutton was extremely jealous of that fact.
@@bridgez04 I agree with that. Jealousy. The thing is, Hutton went into that situation knowing the dynamics of Mary’s and Freddie’s relationship. Hutton wasn’t a young naive guy. Freddie never hid his affection for Mary nor her importance in his life. Freddie’s friend Yasmine Pettigrew stated that EVERYONE knew if they tried to get between Mary and Freddie, they were taking their life in their own hands. Instead, he waited until Freddie was dead to disparage Mary’s rep. Mary and Freddie were poor together and she supported and believed in him and his dream. No one else held that distinction. The rest all came after the fame and fortune. Freddie said he’d love Mary until he drew his last breath. And that’s what he did. It was what it was. And it WASN’T what Jim Hutton claimed.
When you think about it, if everyone who says they love Freddie is still arguing about whether Freddie loved Mary more than Jim because he left her the money and the house, that's pretty sad. One, because Freddie's reason for doing this is complex (even if it's now obvious when you listen to those who really knew the inner circle) and two, because their love had nothing to do with money. Freddie protected Jim and his private life, to which he attached inestimable value (he also protected him beyond his death, by protecting him from need and from prying eyes, which would have been impossible or even unthinkable if he had left him the house!) It was in 1991, and even today, some people feel sadly offended. I don't think that's loving Freddie, but that's my opinion...
Freddie protected Jim who didn't do the same for Freddie. To write a tell-all book about what sex positions Freddie liked, that his last words were supposedly pee pee and writing the story as if Freddie was the needy, clingy one and Jim was the big prize. I won't even go into the horrible things Jim said about Mary, the woman who met Fred Bulsara when he was unknown and broke but supported him both financially ("You must understand, Mary paid all of our bills" Freddie Mercury) and emotionally as compared to Jim who met a wealthy, famous rock star living in a mansion. I'm so tired of the notion that Freddie left Garden Lodge to Mary because he assumed Jim would die in a few years instead of the fact that Mary found Garden Lodge for Freddie and he wanted her to have it, not because he felt guilty about not marrying her and all of that nonsense but because he loved her and he felt she deserved it. The inner circle knew nothing and Phoebe continues to be a complete clown. Freddie made it quite clear in interviews that Mary was his only friend and the only one he could confide in because she had "the depth and quality so I can talk to her about very serious things." Had Jim been given Freddie's ashes, we would know where they are because Jim wrote in his ridiculous book that he thinks they're under Freddie's favorite cherry tree at Garden Lodge. Freddie chose the love of his life well and she doesn't deserve the vitriol and hatred she has gotten all of the decades because of Jim and that worthless Phoebe who lives off Freddie's dead bones even to this day.
@@LillyRose924 I do appreciate your kind words. How a woman could love and devote her entire life to one man from the time she was 19 to the present day and have to suffer the amount of nasty comments, lies and hatred from people who claim to be Freddie fans is beyond me. I know it will never happen but I would love for Mary to write a book and tell her side of the story. I also hope that she's made arrangements to have her ashes someday scattered or placed near Freddie's so he doesn't have to go through eternity without her. That would be lovely for both of them.
@@debra2700well said Debra, many people just can’t handle that Mary was his true love, which is why Freddie did the honourable thing by her, and made sure she was looked after. He always felt in debt to her. Giving her half of his stuff was probably what he felt was the least he could do.
@@bridgez04 I never felt that Freddie loved both Mary and men because he was bisexual. I'm convinced that he was 100% gay and if he could have made Mary happy in the way she desperately wanted as her husband and father of her potential children, he would have done that for her, he adored her that much but he was gay and only truly happy when he could live his life as a gay man. Mary said that after Freddie told her the truth, he was the happy person she had met and she understood that Freddie was gay and that was the life he was meant to live and I believe Mary knew Freddie best.
Too bad Hutton let Freddie gag on mango for a half an hour before Joe came in to dislodge it. Poor Freddie, so ill and weak, was lucky Joe came in. Curious that Trevor’s thought on Mary’s place within the Garden Lodge circle is edited out of this clip. 🧐🤔
