A lot of people didn't like James Corden's character, but I thought he did a good job. I enjoyed it.

I was worried going in (I do there think are gay actors I would have preferred to see in the role) but James is one of the strongest performances in this. It’s a campy character and he handled it without being too much and he really ground the role with the scenes where you seen him dealing with his own issues. Him, Meryl, and Ariana Debose were the standouts for me. Andrew Rannells was amazing but the character is just kind of...there until his numbers.

@@robwilliamson5082 @Rob Williamson lol did we watch the same movie?? His performance was mediocre at best, homophobic at worst. James Corden got the role because he is famous, and not because of his talent (or lack thereof). There's so many gay actors and broadway stars that could have nailed the role, but instead we got Jame Corden acting gay (limp wrist included) and reinforcing gay stereotypes and act how straight men think gay men acts.

I enjoyed it too. James Corden is only getting flack because he is a straight actor playing a flamboyant gay character. The fact that he is straight should not matter and in reality, flamboyant gay men do exist in real life as in musicals so there is no need for them to go back in the closet because they are being perceived as being a stereotype.

Yes, I really liked Corden in this. I thought he played Barry flamboyant as does Ashmanskas in the original Broadway show. In my opinion anyway. They are both great I loved the heart of this movie and cast and also the stage show. Happy that more people will know about this story now,

Im just gutted they cut out half of the song You Happened, like Emma and Alyssa had like three more verses. And they added mroe stuff between the principle and deedee and like....i loved it and it made me cry but it did kinda feel like it was a gay film made to be "digestible" to straight people.
