- Antoni Porowski, Karamo Brown, Tan France, Jonathan Van Ness and newcomer Jeremiah Brent chat with ET's Rachel Smith about season 9 of 'Queer Eye,' which is streaming now on Netflix. The cast addresses Bobby Berk's departure and gets emotional talking about the 'difficult year' it's been for them. While Antoni explains families evolve, he gushes about why Jeremiah was the perfect addition to the show. Jeremiah talks about feeling like a 'newbie' and reveals why he turned down the role after being approached in season 1. The cast also share their thoughts on if there's room for a potential return for Bobby in the future.

Bobby seemed so genuine, kind and talented. I miss you in this new season. I wish you everything you want and deserve. Thank you Bobby for all the previous seasons.
From what I understood, the contracts had simply expired after 7 years, all five of them thought it was over and instead Netflix proposed a 4-year cycle and the others after thinking about it each decided for their own reasons to sign. Bobby, on the other hand, didn't feel like giving up on his new projects. The fight with Tan was for private reasons, it had nothing to do with the show, they had already had a cordial contact at the Emmy awards and now maybe things have already settled down, who knows 🤷🏻♀️ I don't see malice but only disappointment because initially Bobby was angry with them and maybe everyone wasn't proud of themselves. Only they really know what they said to each other and how difficult it was, I imagine. And in my opinion Jeremiah is a great addition to the cast, I found him very sweet, sensitive and competent in his field!
Except Tan going on instragram saying that he had nothing to do with 'Bobby getting fired'
I miss Bobby but I’ve been OBSESSED with Jeremiah for years. I’m so happy he’s in the new season.
I think Bobby is the most amazing one of the whole group. Besides his insane talent, he has overcome some terrifically difficult challenges in his lifetime. The episode a few years back where they redid a church lady and the church was really revealing. Bobby stood at the doorstep of the church and couldn’t make himself go in. He later revealed how hideously he was treated in the church he grew up in when he came out. He had an uphill battle to get where he is so much respect to Bobby is warranted. I hope his new business endeavors make him rolling in money.
If i remember correctly he had also been homeless at one point. He really could relate to some of the guests hardest moments.

I feel like the fab five who's in charge of design (doesn't matter whether it's Bobby or Jer) is the most underrated. Both of them and their teams didnt get enough appreciation on the amount of work they do for the show. Also, I've realised no heroes has ever said thank you to Bobby/Jer teams as well.

I like them all, but I have to say, there was something special about Bobby. I actually miss him on the new episodes.
Their contract came to an end and Bobby didn't want to re-sign. He was pretty sure they weren't going to be offered another contract after season 8, because Netflix work in mysterious ways.
Drama comes in when you mix business with personal. The Fab Five were work colleagues, and some of them became friends but not all of them. That's normal in the world of mature adults.
I adore Bobby and can't wait to see all of his next adventures. I adore Jeremiah and get choked up every time he gets emotional. He's going to be a fabulous fit!!

I got the sense that he wanted to be the one to answer because, of the four of them, he IS the one that's friend(liest)s with Bobby and could provide an answer without making it personal against Bobby. By not saying anything about Bobby, he actually spoke highly of him.
Bobby seemed incredibly genuine to me out of all of them and he is an insanely talented decorator.
Bobby was (is) fabulous and Jeremiah has fit right in and has made his own stamp on the show. Absolutely love both Bobby and Jeremiah.

It astonishes me how unforgiving the media and public can be. We all are understanding when heroes show their imperfections in life and with their jnterpersonal relations; and the public just held the fab five to an incredible high standard because it is literally their job to bring the best of themselves in a put together fashion to help someone in need. We should see and understand them the same way we do our heroes; with compassion and knowing that we all are multisided, unique human being with ragged edges. Its more beautiful and humanizing to think of it that way: no matter diferrences or NATURAL and NORMAL rough bumps in more than a half a decade long relationship where they have to unite forces and everything they are ( because this has to happen when doing such heart-felt and in depth things) they manage to bring such light and grace. All through the complexities (that yes! comes hand in hand with all the light) that comes with having new siblings with which you interact and live for months!!🧡💛
I loved all seasons. In saying that, S9 is absolutely brilliant and most episodes are now my favourites. I was never a big fan of Johnathan due to the screeching but he dialled it down this season and is allowing a more quiet, genuine, sincere, interesting person to emerge. OTT Banshee be gone! He is actually becoming my favourite at a rapid pace. I loved Bobby! Such talent. I do wish him well for the future and hope we can see some other things he is involved in. Jeremiah is a great add. I love that he is into crystals and protection - and the message he had one client write on the wall before painting. I have done the same here now. Looking forward to S10!!

Who knows hwat happened there behind the scenes, but Tan's Instagram video alleging that Bobby got fired when no official communiation had mentioned this before was just such a bitch move. And when Bobby mentioned that he was under the impression they would all let their contracts run out and then found out they extended behind his back I believe him. I understand they have been cast to make this show togetger, they dont have to be best friends, but when you are preaching on screen you can't be that messy a person behind the scenes. And that's me not even getting into the allegations of JVN's raging at staff.

This video was on my mind, so I wanted to come back and just say that the fact that Jeremiah did not meet up with Bobby once- that just doesn't sit right. If I was taking someone's beloved place in a group like this one, I would surely reach out as a goodwill gesture, at the very least. Bummer that it felt like they weren't allowed to talk much about Bobby. I love them all, but I still haven't found myself watching the new season... it doesn't feel right. Maybe Bobby will get his own show?
I remember when Jeremiah was just starting out and he got one of his first major jobs by working with Rachel Zoe and her TV show. Loved him then and live him now BUT also adored Bobby 🫶🏾

Why were they not better prepared for this question? Karamo’s answer out of the gate is essentially “we aren’t responsible for these decisions, you have to embrace change” which basically says Bobby was fired. How about saying “he gave so much to this show, has many of his own projects and is living part time in Portugal. We wish him well. We know viewers will miss him and also wish him well but will enjoy Jeremiah.”

I like the new guy but man I hate how fake and shady they all are. Antoni seems to be the most respectful of the group and isn’t as messy as the others in the public eye. Tan, Kuramo, and Jonathan I would keep as far away as possible.

I, too, love and miss Bobby. I will say I think season 9 is the best season in a long time, and Jeremiah and his work are outstanding. I’d give it a try if I were you! It seems like the show has gotten back to its roots in a way. The Fab 5 seem much happier than they have the last several years.

Personally I kinda always disliked Bobby. He seemed kinda distant, not really in on it. Jeremiah is hella integrated into the show. He is really putting himself out there and getting close and personal, something Bobby didn't really do. There is so much personality in Jeremiah's remodeling. Bobby's work was always good and stylish, but just that, not really fitted to the person of the episode

Yikes at Karamo’s non-answer. He could have just said “Bobby had other projects and didn’t want to commit to more seasons, so he decided to leave the show”. Why not keep it simple?
That was my point. That answer was so poorly done and Tan as a current cast member isn’t doing himself or the show any favors with the semi shade. Maybe he’s also secretly wanting to retire. Maybe should have thought that through.

You know I like the show and stuff.. but frankly I don’t believe anything they are saying here. Jeremiah does seem great and fits in great! But for the cast to sit there and act like they had no power and were just as victims on this as Bobby. I just don’t believe it for a second. Lot of shade of this cast. I am so in love with the fab 5! I need these people in my life! I will miss Bobby tremendously. I hope he stays in the world of TV and design because he is so creative and talented! We love you, BOBBY. YOU WILL BE MISSED! With that being said, and after watching the Las Vegas series in one day, I can say I love the addition of Jeremiah. He carefully takes in the heroes and then honors them with his ability and design! I especially loved the change he made in the Librarian's rental property with its limitations. It was such an amazing change when done. I have begged my daughters to please submit me for the show. I've needed the fab 5 in my life for so long. My daughters are afraid I would embarrasse them if I were chosen. So I stay in limbo hoping and praying to go to my door and open it to these wonderful people called the fab 5. Did I mention I'm only an hour away from Vegas? Please keep creating this show, yo improve te world one episode at a time. Thank you!❤

Tan is so damn irritating and fake. And they all do have power, they all said they were only doing 8 seasons and so Bobby rejected the renewal and the rest of them signed on without telling him. The show loses its magic when there is weird politics involved, and back to Tan, his fakeness and the weird touching of each other is just off-putting. The formula of the show is perfection, I don't know why some of them are so insecure that they feel the need to be over the top with the lovey dovey stuff.
Them deciding to continue to the show for themselves is not wrong or terrible, and it's not "politics". Why should they be forced to quit just because Bobby had other stuff going on? And there's nothing anywhere to suggest they didn't tell Bobby they were continuing the show. They did the opposite, because Bobby said he didn't want to cancel his other plans, which suggests they *did* tell him.
@ no, they all agreed together they were only doing 8 seasons. So when Netflix came with a renewal contract for additional seasons, Bobby said no because that’s what they agreed on. The rest of them went back on that and accepted the deal. At that point he was informed they all reneged and he was in the impossible position because he had scheduled other work at that point. You don’t get to claim they’re the good guys for telling him when they’re telling him after the fact and when it is too late in terms of scheduling. There were plenty of reporting about their filming and some of the guys not having the closest relationships, so it’s clear that YES it was a political move to get Bobby off the show.
Jeremiah is cool. Like him alot and I think he is a great fit in the show.
But I will definitely miss Bobby. He was such a great bloke. Really hope we see him rise in something else -
