Clarification, Adam and Jamie of Mythbusters didn't dislike each other, they just weren't friends. The way I understand it, they were coworkers who worked well together and sometimes that's just how it is!
yes thank you! It's kinda frustrating how long this myth has gone un-busted! Adam has gone on record multiple times to state that they did NOT hate each other or anything of the sort, just that at the end of the day when they wrapped up, they weren't hanging out as friends. They were coworkers and nothing more. I think people just WANTED to believe that there was something more there, because 'coworkers' is kind of a boring story behind one of the worlds most famous duos.
I think part of the reason people say they “didn’t like each other” is cause Adam has discussed their scientific process as effective but wasn’t very friendly. They balanced each other well but it was more combative than collaborative. But this is the internet and that doesn’t fit in a tweet so it became they 100% hate each other
Adam has talked about his and Jamie's work together a lot on his Tested channel, and he does say they didn't jive well enough to hang outside of work, but that they didn't hate each other. In fact, you can tell from how he talks about Jamie that he has a lot of respect for him. While they sometimes butted heads, as colleagues do, he feels that they were a very good team, and I don't think he's ever uttered a bad word about Jamie.
I'll be first to leave if I was Bobby too. His tasks have always been so daunting to do in a few days time. While Kuramo's "role" always made me feel conflicted since he's not like "qualified" therapists, but more like a glorified life coach.
Yeah I have been uncomfortable with his role from the first episode & never got better with it. If I was getting made over I'd be wondering who the heck he is to be giving me advice lol.
Sometimes a life coach is what people need. Therapy requires a lot of professional boundaries. Karamo is expectedly UNprofessional (which is not bad; it's called "being casual") he befriends them, speaks colloquially, and gives tough advice. When I did therapy, it was mostly questions, maybe a few tools to help me process thoughts, but I never got any advice on what choices were better for me. Maybe someone like Karamo was what I needed then. Anyway, he says he worked as a social worker for a decade. Antoni doesn't need a culinary degree to do his job. And no one questions whether Bobby went to design school or not. Why is Karamo an issue?
@navysisomphou they're not valid comparisons, & the stakes are far lower if they haven't had formal education. Just like Karamo, their work speaks for itself.
Karamo is a social worker, which can be licensed as a therapist, but I’m 99% sure he’s not licensed. Also, as someone who is a licensed therapist, those licenses don’t transfer from state to state, so he couldn’t technically be acting as a therapist as they travel around the country. So yes, and no to this. Also, yeah, I’m not surprised Bobby left and I don’t blame him at all !
As a disabled indivual, ever since one episode in season 3 with a wheelchair user I’ve felt very uncomfortable with Karamo. The dude should not have confronted the man who caused his injury, and he did not have to thank his mother for helping him adjust and Karamo pushed a very ableist narrative in that and just, hrmg.
it was so uncomfortable like "here's the guy who shot you! now see each others point of view" it made zero sense, I was exited to see him again later on as the guy Karomo called for the wheelchair user on season 7 but it's so confusing like why didn't he get another wheelchair user during season 3
Any words for the actual hero they had who was using ableist tropes and language himself? His literal organization is called "disabled but not really". What is more ableist than that? No?
@@peachesandpoets hey there, I'm disabled, yes that was also ableist, but Karamo is too and he is one of the fab 5 and is one of the main topics of this video. Talking about all the ablist takes on that show would have me writing a 10 page essay lmao like I'm super uncomfortable with a lot of their takes, like when JVN calls everything about getting ready "easy" when for lots of disabled people, getting in the shower is enough to make some of us so exhausted we need a nap, or pass out, etc. Or how they assign value to styles based on societal standards instead of how good it makes someone feel on the inside. It seems like they never take accessibility into account on that show when redeisgning peoples entire lives.
I recall Karamo discussing his past of abusing partners. He talked about it in terms of being “reformed” from it, but it definitely broke my illusion of the Fab Five.
100% remember this. He was promoting his book on a talk show and I remember him telling a story of how his partner at the time called the cops and the police didn't do anything because they were two gay men. He was literally saying how he suffered no consequences from that. People were applauding like he was so brave. I stopped watching queer eye after that and never saw another episode. I'm all for people changing and growing and living past their mistakes. Maybe he was reformed and regretted his past decisions, but something about the way he did a press tour with that specific story and the way he told it.... the vibes were off for me.
@@rachaeltumer1498yeah it seems like he wasn’t taking accountability and tried to make it seem like because you are queer that gives it an excuse to be problematic. It doesn’t. Also, his ex-fiance was the same man that was the PA that led Alexa Nikolas to the trailer that Britney Spears yelled at her on Zoey 101 set.
I met JVN!!! I burst out crying when I met them (there was an event at my workplace) and their entourage was so nice too. I was totally an unprofessional mess but they got teary when I was like 'you gave me the courage to come out' and gave me a big old hug and yeah, JVN is LOVELY. They are SO tall and statuesque and pretty and were wearing the tallest heels. I was so moved meeting them.
Oh, I'm so jealous! I wash my hair at night so when they released their company my mom got me some of the air dry cream and it has been a life saver. I would love to get styled by them
This is a legitimate question, not shade: did Karamo ever apologize to the woman he gaslit on his show for critiquing the Pink Sauce Lady? Like she was legitimately trying to help the Pink Sauce Lady with a video critique and then he brought her on his show and tried to convince everyone that she was in the wrong for trying to help. Right after the clip hit TH-cam it seemed like he just tried to sweep it under the rug and acted like nothing happened…
Yeah but first he doubled down on it. And I haven’t forgotten that he also went out of his way to defend Sean freaking Spicer like he didn’t outright help trump lie to America and then try to cover it up by being on DWTS. I have no idea what’s going on between this cast but Kuramo has been sus to me for years now.
If it’s the “apology” I’m thinking of, it was pretty much a non-apology and it seemed like he only did it because of the negative publicity he was receiving. I hadn’t realized he was a Queer Eye cast member initially but it explains the huge amount of backlash he received over his actions. From my recollection the ending of that whole thing left a bad taste in my mouth about him as a person. It’s come back up again recently due to the pink sauce lady promoting a blue sauce and apparently blocking the woman who was brought on the show.
Karamo radiates "I'm an empath" energy, aka not nearly self-aware enough to actually be as emotionally enlightened as he thinks he is. People with that vibe make me so uncomfortable. And then he publicly made himself look like a tool by gaslighting and overstepping with the therapy speak on his own show, who could've seen that coming...
@@natatatt being high-empathy or a "sensitive person" is normal and fine, I'm one myself. But labeling oneself an "empath", and making it their identity like some do, is just so pretentious, and a red flag to me that someone is getting high off their own farts. Just my experience.
I put a mic on miley cyrus once almost 10 years ago. I was about to have a breakdown because i was 19 and way overworked for the event but I was so excited to be there and was just really feeling an overwhelming emotional burrito of things. She asked if she could help and helped me put it on her and was really nice and genuine and told me I was doing a good job 😭
I met a bunch of celebrities in that line of work and she was the only one I really remember the interaction with. Everyone else was very business, generally polite, or super lost in getting themselves prepared that they glazed over and didn't notice anybody. I don't recall anyone being rude to anyone or anything but I also worked backstage stuff for charity events that celebs showed up to or presented at or whatever.
I saw someone throw an insult at miley cyrus the other day and it made me so mad bc she's always given me this vibe!!! she's the type of celeb you can tell is just a genuine person
Tan was always my favorite. He just seemed like someone fun to grab coffee with. JVN def comes off as the biggest sweetheart, but tbh it’s TV who the hell knows
Love both Tan and JVN! They both seem transparent to me. Especially in the JVN podcast they don’t try to act like they know everything but craves information.
Adam Conover from Adam Ruins Everything was the nicest celebrity I’ve ever met. He performed at my college and took the time to speak with every person and take a photo with them (most performers took a group photo and left). Seeing his updates during the strike made me so happy knowing he’s so genuine.
he was a guest on a podcast that taped at Dynasty Typewriter that my m and i went to, and it was maybe a month or so before the strike and that’s what he talked about, his union activity (both unions), the contracts, AI, labor laws as applied to entertainment, and how much the TV landscape and thus screenwriting has changed since streaming and how the studios wanted things to keep getting worse for everyone actually making the work. my mom is the president of her own union chapter and I am highly interested in labor so we had a great time hearing him speak there!
Oh my god, I met him at a live show when I was like 12 years old in 2019 at the Mind Parasites tour, and I was such a big fan I was shaking, and he was so nice to me, he even signed my 'Adam Ruins Everything' book, with its tattered spine which was destroyed from reading it so much lol. He actually paused the photos to talk to me, asking me about my name and favorite episodes. He is truly the nicest celebrity I've ever met :)
For the record, the Mythbusters guys didn't hate each other. They've gone on record saying they just viewed each other as coworkers and thats about it. It was a working relationship but they'd not hang out outside of work or anything because it would he weird to hang out with a coworker like that who isn't a friend, obviously
@@Sofiaode18 " but they'd not hang out outside of work or anything because it would be weird to hang out with a !!!coworker like that who isn't a friend!!!" meaning that if they're not friends then they simply aren't friends. Like meaning just because some people work in a very close proximity, it doesn't equate to them wanting to hang out in real life /GEN
@@itsthatonestan1144 yeah that's what not being a friend but being a coworker is like. I dont understand what youre trying to get across, some people just dont become friends dude. Thats fine, it doesnt mean they hate one another. Glad we're on the same page
@@Sofiaode18I mean, sure, but not everyone does? I have plenty of coworkers I’m on good terms with and who I work well together with but I wouldn’t call us friends. Not everyone in your life is going to be your friend and that’s fine. You can be courteous to someone every day without expecting you to become close friends who cry on each other’s shoulders.
Honestly when I heard that Karamo had a talk show I was surprised. I didn't know he had the clout to pull that off. And then the way he handled the Pink Sauce drama was terrible. I WOULD watch a show from Bobby, though, especially if it is something like those twins from Home&Health.
I've always felt the mental health/life coaching component of the new Queer Eye was a win/loss. On one hand it showed a progression from just looking good to also pursuing an m.o. that makes you FEEL good, and addressing aspects of your life inevitably influencing your outer style. But at the end of the day none of them are licensed therapists or specialists and many of the people they featured on the episodes have legitimate issues that aren't going away once the credits roll. When I learned that none of the Fab 5 keep in touch with the people they help, it made the whole gimmick seem even more performative and hard to invest in.
I think an expectation they would keep in touch with those people is kind of weird. Why would they? They are TV personalities, not - to your point - therapists. If anything, I think the *show* has a responsibility to keep in touch both to offer additional support if issues arise as a result of the effects the show imposed on the clients' lives, but also as an opportunity to revisit the client if something interesting happened as a result of the show's impacts (or to revisit if the client still needs help and is open to trying again). I also feel the show has a responsibility to have some kind of mental health professional there to not only guide Kuramo through some of his conversations, but also to make sure the clients are doing ok throughout the overall process. The level of change being initiated there could be a little traumatic or scary to people, especially those who have been set in there ways so long and have an aversion to change.
I remember this episode where this guy is clearly working himself to exhaustion but instead of looking into why he felt the need to work so many hours, they kinda blamed him for not being a good enough partner. It felt like he had much deeper rooted issues and they just were'nt qualified to help him with that so it just got glossed over. Episode: Deli Dan is a Dream Man
@@inventedcool1076 The expectation doesn’t come out of thin air, it’s set up by the show itself. They said in interviews after the first season that they did keep in touch so it was kind of used as marketing for the first season. And it’s also the way they present their relationships with the people they help in the show itself. The depth of the connection they try to convince us that they have made makes it seem weird that they wouldn’t keep in touch - that’s why it feels performative and manipulative that they don’t. The show works because it has a sense of earnestness and genuineness but the moment you realise that’s far more manufactured than it seems at first glance is the moment the show stops being endearing.
@@quadling3521 yeah, I definitely see what you're saying. I guess it seems strange to me to expect any form of reality TV to be based in... Well, reality. Like, the last time the real world was actually real was its first season and that show has "real" in the title lol I assume there's a level of performative friendship there. Also you can get to know someone well enough just being their co-worker without having to hang out outside of work.
This is why I couldn’t enjoy the show. At least the old show was all surface level and didn’t pretend to be more. This show wants to be deep, but somehow feels even more fake. It’s a show and not genuine.
Dude's job is literally to tell people how to live their lives and you gotta be pretty judgmental to do that after less than a week of meeting a person.
So ppl think karamo is the boyfriend and do ppl have suspicions about who the alleged dude is the boyfriend of this creators ex friend was talking about?
it's really upsetting because with the rose colored glasses, he was one of my favorites but after all the stories... man shouldn't have his show nor fame.
Lolz, I also immediately ruled out Tan as an issue. He has a no nonsense vibe. I saw a clip from Karamo's talk show and it does give off putting vibes. Unless Antoni relapsed, it's not him. I think Jonathan is pretty open about not being in the party scene. It's between Bobby and Karamo and I remember an interview some time ago where all the guys but Karamo were there and when asked where Karamo was, there was a weird moment and Jonathan said that Karamo wasn't feeling well. It's sad whoever it is. I wish Bobby well.

After the pink sauce lady debacle, I’m convinced Karamo is secretly an asshole 😂 I’ve personally never really vibed with his sections on queer eye and his behavior towards the girl who criticized the pink sauce was nail in the coffin for me
They are coworkers. Realistically, coworkers arent always THAT close or even friends outside of work. To act like they were bffs just because of what you see on the show and online is laughable. We dont know them personally, and its literally a reality tv show that is most likely scripted.
and tbf, i love my coworkers and have fun at work, but i spend a fair amount if time w/ them. depending on which coworkers we are talking about, i may or may not want to spend time with them grabbing a bite after work. often yea, often no. but when we were working 12 and 13 hour testing shifts, we all just wanted to go home and sleep. filming days are LONG. and they get days off, but i wouldn’t be surprised if all 5 use those to see partners/spouses/kids/family etc
tbh karamo reporting he wasn't invited to Anthony's bachelor's party sounded SO petty. Even if you DO like your coworker there is a huge difference between being nice during work and being actual friends outside of it. Tan and Antony likely kept in touch after recordings were done and bonded, it's SO WEIRD to try to make drama out of it
@@Garsnoos not all reality shows are scripted. definitely not scripted like movies are. idk what difference that info makes haha other than just clarifying truths
Used to work at a coffee shop that JVN & their husband would frequent every morning in Austin (their order is an americano, if anyone was wondering). Both JVN, their husband, AND their dog are lovely and were never anything but kind to me and my coworkers(:
I've watched a few eps, and Bobby always came across as the most down to earth one to me. That kind of person can't be around inflated egos for too long.
I sat behind Michael B Jordan at a basketball game once and the guy that was next to me was being very annoying (chirping at players, almost getting into a shouting match with Pat Beverly, trying to rope me into it, etc) and at a point I asked for Michael B Jordan to take a picture with me and my now wife, which he obliged. The dude next to me then asked him for a pic and he looked him dead in the eyes and said “sorry I have to go, but watch Creed tho!” and walked away
My most interesting celebrity encounter was meeting Dove Cameron in a makeup trailer on Schmigadoon Season 2. We were both having our makeup removed at the same time and I had a chance to quickly say hello and have a short chat on my way out. She was absolutely lovely. I was a cut away in a musical number in the first episode, in drag, if anyone wants proof.
I might be aging myself but Karamo was on The Real World years ago! And he had maaaany issues with the cast members even then and had anger issues portrayed on the show
@@_bebeboudeur_The Real World was one of the earliest reality shows. They would just take a bunch of young adults and put them in a house together for a few weeks like jersey shore’s older sister basically. It was a shitshow

@@Michael-ur5qb yeah exactly - like, he was young and was coming to terms with his sexuality at the time. But to your point, I think it seems like in generally he may have some issues defaulting to anger and acting out /struggling with people he’s close to if he hasn’t addressed it
new queer eye is a little TOO feel good for me. always felt a little fake and maybe it was. the cop in season 1 grossed me out. the original is still gold to me. "Billy Joel is the iceberg lettuce of rock and roll" lmao
Agreed, I couldn’t make it past S1 it felt way too artificial and cultivated. Almost like watching trauma p0rn, yet so many of my friends and family ate it right up.
Oh my God, I haven't seen much of the show, and I couldn't watch past the cop. Like it was fine... I guess... But it was a lot to get through, and I just felt like if the rest of the show is like this, I couldn't watch anymore lol
That cop episode, damn. When they being pulled up by that man's cop colleague for pranking, that scene is so uncomfortable to watch. What the f is wrong with y'all cops and the producers thought this scene is okay?
Mark Ruffalo is the absolute kindest human being. I interned at the tonight show in 2018 and he was so unbelievably kind and went out of his way to acknowledge everyone working behind the scenes. Also, being there for BTS. i knew nothing about k-pop or BTS at the time and was blown away by the literally thousands of fans that waited outside for days simply because they knew BTS were inside. Also very polite and respectful guys.
A friend of mine does a little stage and background extra work in Pittsburgh and years ago he worked at a pancake place that has a good rep in the city. Mark Ruffalo was filming a movie there that my friend had a role in. I think he even had a few lines. Mark has breakfast at the pancake place every day he was there for filming, and always sat in my friend's section so they could chat. On the last day he brought his wife and introduced her to my friend saying "Here's my friend [x] who worked on the movie with me". Just a really cool guy. He really had to work in the trenches and I think knows how many talented people are out there who just didn't get the few lucky breaks they needed to get their career rolling, which is something he got.
My sister served Aston Kutcher at the coffee shop she works at, she didn’t realize it was him, and asked him to speak up when he was ordering. Later her coworkers asked how cool was it, to talk to him. She said, who??😂
I always skip Karamo's bit im sorry. I dont like his role of fake coaching, anyway im sure he is not responsible of anything and the show is heavy scripted, for the 5 of them. Bobby does not do "all the work" by himself. They have a week of shooting with each person, there is a whole ass team behind cameras that we dont see. I think the fav5 are casted not because of their role but because someone decided they looked fine on camera, and are able to portray chemistry on camera. Their "work" on the show, i dont think is very real. We dont know how it works behind the scenes even if the final product it is the way it is.
I didn't quite realize it, but I also tended to skip his section lol? I was interested in Bobby's transformation of space, looked forward to Tan's fashion advice, contemplative if I can follow along Antoni's recipe of the day, and JVN is just a personality you can't skip. Karamo's was simultaneously so hit-and-miss, and so boring in comparison??
@@caratlove4107 it comes across as a way to make the episode a little longer. Like they are there for a week, some minutes of "fake psychotherapy" wont make any changes even if the show always portrays it as something so special.
I mean at the end of the day these are 5 people with very different personalities and backgrounds. It makes sense to me that some people kind of gravitated towards each other like Antoni and Tan because they have similar friendship circles and probably have similar goals/what they want to do with their celebrity. I don't think it's as nasty as people are making it out to be. Even looking back on old interviews and how they started, this could have been a launch pad for them to do other things which I'm not mad at them for. I can still enjoy the show and acknowledge that some people have bigger goals. I think since Bobby's role is more time consuming, he might have a design show or something in that space and it's super time consuming so I don't blame him if he feels like he should leave to do that. As I mentioned they've always been different, Karamo and JVN have strong personalities too are approach queerness very differently.
There were some rumors JVN and Antony banged while they were both single during i think season 2 or 3, and if so there would make even more sense that Antoni and Tan are closer now while not that close with JVN - no big evil drama, just normal "we had a thing and now we are kinda awkward" maybe?
Tan is my favourite! As well as being a fellow South Yorkshire person, (that's the North of England, just, for those outside the UK) he seems most grounded and genuine to me. Maybe I just understand him more as a fellow Brit. He's aware of his issues and has dealt with them.
Particularly from his little show, with the episode starring the Pink Sauce lady and a woman who reviewed the sauce, Karamo gave me the big ick. I also recall an episode of Queer Eye when he “helped” a guy who was wheelchair bound and it didn’t really seem like he helped him more so he milked him for television drama/a sob story.
I've only met a handful of celebrities, worked for two actually, but my most notable interactions were meeting Kevin Conroy one year before he passed away, and meeting Bob Odenkirk at a book signing. Both were amazing the brief time I got to spend with them. I was introduced to Batman in the world's finest three parter, so I dressed as Superman to meet Kevin. Our only interaction was "Hey Superman!" "Hey Batman!" I still hear his voice when I read comics.
That’s so awesome. I still hear his voice too. Still can’t believe he passed that quickly, he wasn’t sick for that long from what I’ve heard. Glad to hear they both were very nice.
@@brycegoddard5547I don’t think I’ve ever heard a single bad thing about Kevin Conroy. Basically everyone who has ever had any contact with him sung his praises and talked about what a genuinely wonderful human being he was. Makes it hurt even more to know we lost him too soon.
My best celebrity encounter was when Silicon Valley was filming a scene in the parking garage of my coffee shop and Kumail Nanjiani ordered a black coffee, literally the easiest thing to prepare, and then put a $20 in the tip jar and was overall just super nice and low-key and I am a huge fan of his so that was lovely.
I dunno know if this is a weird thing to add but I remember JVN from the Gay of Thrones days when he would reply to the IG comments and he was always ALWAYS the nicest.
This is so sad to hear. I didn't know about any of this drama. I have half a mind to not tell my mom about what's been happening behind the scenes because she considers the show to be a comfort.
What sold Karamo to me was when he was in New Orleans doing the fraternity episode and he talked about toxic masculinity, taught the boys brotherhood and encouraged them to cry / open up because its crucial to not bottle up their emotions. I didnt realize he was so controversial until recently I started seeing his drama pop up everywhere
Karamo and Antoni admitted that they had a huge falling out around S2-S3 (they were very nebulous about what it was about). Apparently, it was so bad that they couldn't be in the same room together. (They did a whole episode about the fallout back when Karamo had a podcast.) I went to a book signing event for Antoni's 2nd book. Even talking in front of a group people in what I assume are very prepared talks, he was very awkward and kept changing the topic and backtracking. Not saying he has ADHD, but it definitely reminded me of talking to my friends with ADHD (only times 100).
I have the most respect for Bobby and Tan -- they just get on with what they need to do, above the drama. Fave celebrity encounter: Chris Colfer, star of Glee and children's book author. Super sweet to my kids at the book signings, off-the-cuff funny, and full of light.
I don't have any trouble believing Karamo is the culprit here. His new maury like tv show displays a side of him that is ugly as all get out. Not to mention the ableism. It sucks cause I really loved Karamo the most when introduced to him in season 1. I thought he was just amazing. But he has ableism issues to work through, and the way he made a girl apologize to the pink sauce lady when the pink sauce lady was the one at fault and that girl did nothing wrong, made me realize this dude has got some backwards ass ways of looking at accountability.
Favorite celebrity interaction: I was 19 and working at the Taco Bell drive-thru, around 11pm or maybe 12 AM. Fergie came through. I recognized her, I told her my best friend loved her and she signed a Five Layer Burrito wrapper for him. When I pointed out she wasn't lying in her song "Glamorous"-about still getting TB- she laughed. I also told her I had just seen her new movie Nine and she said "You were the only person who saw that" and I laughed. I told her she was the best part of the movie (she was) and she sang a little bit of her "be Italian" song from the musical. She was super nice. She was really huge at that time but still took the time to greet everyone. It messed up our drive-thru time for that night but it was cool. Years later I met Will I Am at a hip hop club and he was very nice too.
Personally was never a fan of Karamo and never understood what qualified him for his 'position'. He'd be pushing forgiveness on people who went through serious trauma/abuse/etc. like the people who hurt them were entitled to it. That's potentially more harmful than the initial trauma itself. He was also extremely preachy and I can never take anyone seriously who can only give advice by relating it to their own experiences. He always just seemed fake to me. I mean the whole show is but him especially so imagine my surprise when he got a talk show. I don't have much of an opinion on Bobby as a person but regarding his contribution to the show, he always did way more than the others so I don't blame him for leaving one bit. Like yeah the internet joked about the gravity of his job compared to Antony teaching everyone how to use an avocado but imagine how it feels from his perspective when Antony and others with far easier tasks were being glorified simply because they were more aesthetically pleasing.
Watching the show, I always felt like none of them liked JVN much. They are very full on, and I could see exasperation and condescension from the other members. You can see them rolling their eyes and making comments about their antics.
@simont390 I like JVN, so not at all! I have a close friend with a similar personality and I see how people act towards her. It's very similar. Like they're "above" her because she's very silly and exuberant. It seems like quite a few people agree with me.
😂 Yeah him and antoni literally going to business together and having their funny joint account definitely shows that nobody ever liked jvn 🙄 This is why Karamo should just have nothing to do with the show. The fans love making the other 4 of them victims. Wonder why.
Thank you for covering this! I just saw a thing on Twitter showing that Bobby had tagged everyone on an Instagram post except Tan and I’m bored at work, so I dove into the drama and what do you know? A video about it!
it probably isn't something major. bobby and tan still aren't following each other that i know of and tan has his ig settings set so only people he follows can tag him, so that's probably why
*Straight-up, Bobby is the only effective one.* I remember this bro with a 'fro; the clothing guy picked out some outfits that looked great, then the client showed up without the outfit and Clothing Guy didnt even bat an eye. JVN didn't bring in a black stylist, didn't pick the afro out before the cut, didn't do anything with it. "Culture" Brother didn't say or recommend a damn thing, culture my ass. But then, Bobby decked out the WHOLE house, the client's music studio -- *_everything._* Then he made a cringy joke, but it didn't matter because he did more work than the other three combined. Can't believe he's leaving. What'll they do with only three members on their staff?
Bobby does not do everything there is a whole team behind the cameras that does everything in a week. We havent seen Bobby actually design everything and buy everything and put everything together. It is not realistic to think that he does all that work by himself 😅

From what I understand of the show, it's not Netflix's team who does the house work, it's BOBBY'S team - and we are talking about Netflix, they WILL cut corners whenever possible. This is not a show from a big established channel that has tons of money from advertisements in the back burner, it's Netflix, and they will not afford anything that is not the bare minimum necessary for a show. Queer Eye is a reality show, it has already a very low budget to begin with. To think they would hire someone to just front as a designer and not actually do the work is giving Netflix more money than they are willing to spend on their content. They couldn't even hire a qualified therapist to do Karamo's job and that dude has like a 50% rate of putting his foot in his mouth BECAUSE he's not a qualified therapist.
@@LunaWitcherArt girl is reality tv. Stop believing everything you see, specially the people who are working on the show and not the contestants. They are the face of the show you would not see the show if the concept was not queer eye. It is important that you like their personality and their group dinamic. It is a show.
This isn’t something I knew I needed but I FUCKING NEED THIS!!! I’m so exciting to watch this, I’ve not been up to date about their drama besides karmo’s pink sauce lady drama
I worked for a number of years at a high-end vintage store & celebs often came through. We had some celeb “regulars” and Leon Bridges was one of them. Super mellow, humble, stylish, & all around cool dude.
Because they addressed it. From what I remember, he sat down with the cop and was like ‘I get that was funny to y’all, but I was fucking scared for my life and please understand that you have that type of power over people, please wield it wisely’. I thought it was a good moment; but it’s been years since I watched it.
I was obsessed with them during 2020 (or was it 2021? It’s all a blur now) and binged the whole series (the seasons that were available at the time anyway) and watched every single interview of them as a group. I loved the force that all of them brought when appearing as an entourage - it felt powerful, fabulous, and so confidently queer. But even then, I could sense something bubbling beneath it all, especially with the cast themselves admitting that Karamo and Bobby were very close and hung out with each other all the time in LA, and the other 3 the same but in NYC. There was also mention of an ongoing feud between Karamo and Antoni in Season 1 behind the scenes, as well as rumours of JVN being a drama queen with production. Tbh, all of that tracks lol.
Love seeing the growth of your channel! And hm. My fave celeb interaction is when I ran into Ezra Koenig (Vampire Weekend) at a random dive bar in LA. He glad took a photo with me and chatted up a bit before we both went out separate ways.
yes we don’t actually know them and parasocial this and that but as a therapist, i have gotten bad vibes from karamo for a long while as he has no credentials but claims to have been a social work for many years. just my two cents but that tiktok definitely just confirmed something i know a lot of us have felt abt k
As far as we know, all of them are just the face of the product. Karamo might as well just have a script given to him and he is the 'therapist" face of the group.
@@lug358Karamo went to undergrad and grad school and did his hours and was licensed. I'm guessing he isn't licensed any more because he is not practicing anything, but he is educated and has practiced. You can dislike him without trying to discredit his qualifications. It is such a coincidence whose credentials get questioned on this show. Hmmm. 😂 🙄
i really appreciate how you have a very nuanced and well thought out way of commentating on things. too many youtubers just jump to conclusions or toss out wild accusations without actually thinking that could actually damage someone's reputation or career. also i don't blame bobby at all for leaving. if i had to renovate like 100000 houses a month id be burnt out too!
I've loved JVN since their show Gay of Thrones, where they would recap Game of Thrones episodes while doing someone's hair. They were hilarious. And someone I follow on TikTok met them in real life and said they were a total sweetheart. That said, I never put much stock in when someone says they met a celebrity and they were awful (unless they're always awful) because anybody could have a bad day. And being famous has to be annoying at times. You think you're the first person to approach them that day asking for an autograph or a selfie, but really, you're the 500th, and everyone hits a limit. People seem to think being rich and/or famous means you should never be in a bad mood, never have bad days, must always be happy and positive, no matter what's going on, and that's a weird expectation. Also, I always found Karamo's segments on the show a little bit useless. I mean, yes, some of those people could benefit from therapy/counseling, but he's neither, and that's not something that could be achieved in a week. Bobby was absolutely doing the lion's share of the work, so he might as well spin that into his own show. Sad to hear he's leaving though. Whether they're friends in real life or not, on camera, the five of them worked, and I'll miss that blend.
I just want the Queer Eye franchise to continue- and imo it's the type of show that can easily swap out main characters. Similar to the Real Housewives- gradually swap out main characters as needed and keep the good vibes moving 😭
Thank you for the video! I *loved* the first QE because it completely changed my mind about reality shows. Up to that point, I genuinely hated reality tv because it seemed to feature nothing but meanness. Then the Fab Five came along, had some very soft fun joking with each straight guy as they toured his living space (never mean, just funny), then they went to great lengths to really help the guy. I just loved that whole upbeat vibe. This cast and show format is very much the same, but because of social media, there is much more breakout cast member tea available (not always a good thing). I *love* Tan France and I’m also a big fan of JVN (I even use his products 😁), but the others I don’t really know anything about, so this was a very interesting and informative video.
Karamo gave me ick ever since I figured out he had a talk show where he basically does publicized therapy… then watching the clip of how he handled the pink sauce drama? God my view of him changed so much after that 😭
I've met Bono several times. He is always charming, hilarious and attentive to everyone around him. He hung around for hours signing things for fans and taking pictures - he even remembered who some of the fans were because they followed them around on tour and sang a little made up song to one of them using her name. He may have infested your iPod against your will, but he's a super nice dude!
And my story about Bono is he was apparently a jerk to work with and tried to get my (talented, award winning)friend fired from the project they were on together. Which isn't to say your experience isn't valid or real! Just a good example of how celebrities are just people and are different in different situations/times of their lives.
Okay i have to ask: why are we even listening to this tiktoker? they gave no names and no details. this is literally an unsubstantiated rumor and we're spending our time deciding which one of them its about? doesnt make it not a rumor lmao
I love this reboot so much! Every episode is so special and full of heart and laughter. I wish them all the best and I hope that they know that they all equally bring something magical to this show.💖🌈
As someone who dated a celebrity... Never again, they all suck lol No, i dont really think they all suck, but im too old for drama now, and they are all drama, at least the ones that I've met.
Idk if this counts as a celebrity interaction but one time i took a picture of my puggle in the Jughead hat from Riverdale and tweeted it with the caption Pughead and Cole Sprouse liked it.
I haven’t had many celebrity encounters, but I got to be a nepo-baby for 20 minutes and got to be part of a photo op with Jessica Simpson, thanks to my mom. I’m the only one in the photo who didn’t work at the store (I was about 13 at the time). When my mom worked there, I also met Queen Latifa.
Bobby is/was the only one with actual demonstrable talent in his category. The rest have always been from central casting & it’s surprising to me how successful this reboot has become. Shows what I know, right 🤷♂️? Chef’s kiss to Kayla for the content.
Antoni is a proper cook, Tan was in fashion before the show, JVN was a hairstylist before the show, Karamo was a counselor before the show. What are you talking about?
This reminds me of the collapse of the BA test kitchen, the whole reason people were watching was for the illusion of a fun work environment. Good people trying to do cool things together and enjoying it. Once that illusion is gone, people stop watching
This is more related to the mythbusters thing than the whole video but I’m tired of not being friends with your coworkers being seen as shocking or odd. Like yeah they worked together for a long time but that doesn’t guarantee a friendship. I have lots of coworkers I love working with and professionally trust with my life but would never want to hang out outside of work, even after years. Some of them were friends but even when they weren’t they respected each other as coworkers and professionals and honestly you do you keeping personal and business relationships separate if you want.
Karamo does not take criticism well. When he said nice things about Sean Spicer and people called him out for rehabbing the reputation of a Trump stooge and liar, he deleted his whole social media in a fit of pique. And then there was that whole thing where he and that pink sauce lady attacked a woman who criticized that toxic poison the pink sauce lady was sending out. He did this in front of a large audience. Acted like the woman who lodged a legitimate criticism did something wrong. Called out for that, he pulled down the episode. And then there was the whole way he handled that episode with the person who uses a wheelchair. He thinks he's right about everything and he has no humbleness, especially when he makes a mistake. I just don't have a good feeling about that guy.
Can we plz re-think this meme in 2024? Not to be all "SnoWfLakeY" or w/e but just- pregnancy is such a touchy subject in general. It's likely within our best interest to not make jokes around it 🤷 idk

Jay and Silent Bob came into my Five Guys before a comedy show a few years back. Silent Bob made eye contact with me the entire time I kep dressing his hotdogs wrong like 3x and trying to be lowkey about it 😅 He was smiling the whole time and he was super friendly. When I handed him their food I told him I loved them in Degrassi which he laughed really hard at! He was dressed up in his Silent Bob clothes so he wasn't trying to blend in or anything lol
My celebrity encounter was meeting Gregory Maguire and having a fee signed books from him. I told him I did my senior thesis on Wicked and he gasped. Favorite queer eye member: tan.
the best celebrity interaction i had was meeting Evan Michelson from Oddities, the last time my family was in New York my mom found a bunch of Atlas Obscura stuff to do and one of these was the Obscura Antiques and Oddities shop! we had no intention of trying to meet anyone from the show, but Evan happened to be there and after an initial minute of being star-struck we got into a chill conversation with her and it was a lovely time. my parents bought something antique for our home’s walls and i still have the chicken bone dice and key i bought from the store then there’s a whole story about my parents meeting Rosie Perez at a meet and greet which turned into my at the time infant brother being cast in one of her movies as her characters daughter lmao, she was very lovely and friendly to my family. i’m secretly hoping to one day have my own chance to meet her
I was working on a show in northern Norway in 2018. It was in a teeny town, and it had been just locals and our crew, but one night at a pub in town there were several other Americans, and we were all like "What are YOU doing here!?" I chatted with one of the production coordinators, and it turns out they were filming The Sunlit Night. She called across the bar, "Jenny! This is one of the people from the show!" and Jenny Slate looks over, waves and smiles, and says "HEY GIRLLL!!" She came over and we talked for a minute. She was SO sweet!
Ever since the Pink Sauce lady thing…I kinda feel that Karamo may not be the best person to discuss issues because he usually work things with people without researching or even understanding the context of the issue…Bobby and JVN i think are the only ones who I think really knows their sh*t…or at least shows they have real life experiences of providing the same services as presented in the show…
The fact that folks legitimately believe these co-workers are supposed to be irl bff's is absolutely wild to me, and is proof that people commenting are either actual children or just lame ass internet trolls .
Is it that or just genuinely not thinking to read this show and their press work with a critical eye? The world of reality television (which this is) is much more all encompassing and online than it was in the 2000s. I don’t think a lot of people are trained to apply critical thinking to work done on the internet. The core of pretty much every sewage explosion style internet scandal of the past few years has been about the collapse of a person’s public image. They are not who the internet told me they are, so they are a traitor.
okay but coming out on tiktok with what you overheard from a castmate venting to people they had a personal relationship with is really fucked up. yeah if any of my friends came out with everything ive said about my coworkers i would sound petty and desperate because it's nice/fun to let off steam and pin the stress of the job onto people you work with in private, doesnt mean I actually go through my day feeling that way or that we cant have a productive working relationship anyway
Girl you're making me feel so old lol. RuPaul's Drag Race started in 2009 and Queer Eye started in 2003, so they're not that far apart lol. Also how did you meet them but not know about Queer Eye? That's the biggest thing they're known for.
Of all the cast members, Karamo is very sus to me. After the pink sauce debacle and just a few other he said/she said accounts I’ve heard of people meeting him. I do not trust him. I think they should recast him in the show and it would be fine.
It's so weird there's an expectation that their expected to be friends or be like they are on TV. It's absolutely normal that they work well together on camera and have a television persona that's not exactly like their offscreen persona. And thanks for pointing out that everyone has off days, are sometimes tired or stressed--no one is always at their best every day.
This kind of makes me feel glad that I never got into this reboot of queer eye. I remembered watching the original version of queer eye. It was really great. I had a crush on Kyan. And even though people might say that it was a lot of stereotypical representation, it was still good important representation at the time. But in a way it just seems a little bit more real, because they never made this fakeness about them all being super close friends. Like, the conceit was more that they were all experts in their field that were drawn together. Like an elite task force. And yeah, they did seem to all get along, but in a way that came organically. Not like they were forced, and had to pretend to be friends. They were just coworkers that were able to establish a good bond. And then when the show was over, they went back to their respective lives and careers. This new version, it really felt rather than focusing on the makeover and lifestyle intervention, it’s more therapy and emotional manipulation. When I say that I mean on the part of the producers. They’re really trying to make every episode have a big breakdown and cry moment. Hence why I think there’s so many comments about Karamo not really being the culture guy. But the one to ask the guest questions that make them cry and get emotional. Something about that just felt so produced and forced to me. So I never really got into this version.
Just bc a reboot isn't perfect from beginning til the end doesn't make it not worth watching, imo. This show is really inspiring and beautiful, in so many ways. I'd recommend watching - there's lots of good vibes to soak up with the new crew.
i've watched the new one (never saw the old one becuae when it came out i was way too young) and i kind of agree. i dislike the implication that this experience has to be life changing and will make problems go away and fix stuff. that may be the case when they renovate a school or help a wallflower find her style, but you can't treat those the same way as people who clearly struggle with mental health or are currently grieving a family member. to imply that the latter situations will be fixed by a hair style, some new wall paper and most importantly, a big emotional crying breakdown is kind of unrealistic and sets standards that won't be achievable irl. i'm generally very conflict avoidant so maybe that's why but i'd be very happy if it could just be the show where people get a nice new style and get some pretty new things and feel better about themselves because that's sometimes all that someone needs, without having all these expectations attached
I waited on Kyan in ATX back when I was a server, it was a little cafe bar on Congress Street and he came in with his friends, a straight couple. He was so so handsome in real life---like he is lovely on screen but face to face? WOW. Intimidatingly handsome. I could barely get through taking their order while he smiled, he was lovely and polite, and I think he ordered a Shiner or a Lone Star beer in bottle ;) Know your crush was righteous!
I was very lucky to meet the kpop group Twice :) they were super sweet and warm to me and my friends, being very empathetic to our nerves and starstruckness even with the language barrier! I had so much respect for their attentiveness since they had been performing in summer heat for 2-3 hours and had been touring so tirelessly in a whole other country and timezones. Great experience!!
Clarification, Adam and Jamie of Mythbusters didn't dislike each other, they just weren't friends. The way I understand it, they were coworkers who worked well together and sometimes that's just how it is!
i think that is why mythbusters could last so long, they were coworkers, so they could deal with things like coworkers
yes thank you!
Penn and Teller have described their working relationship very similarly.
I'll be first to leave if I was Bobby too. His tasks have always been so daunting to do in a few days time. While Kuramo's "role" always made me feel conflicted since he's not like "qualified" therapists, but more like a glorified life coach.
‘Bobby Berk does all the work’
Yeah I have been uncomfortable with his role from the first episode & never got better with it.
Q
Any words for the actual hero they had who was using ableist tropes and language himself? His literal organization is called "disabled but not really". What is more ableist than that?
No?
@@peachesandpoetsTHIS! Disabled isn’t a bad word, it’s just factual. Yes he is disabled, that isn’t anything bad, it’s just an adjective
Whattt 😢
Excuse me WHAT?! Okay that’s strike 3 for me after the pink sauce mess and defending Sean Spicer. Ew
It doesn’t.

Thats why I think its him who is causing the drama n
Yeah I’m pretty sure he had her on the show again and apologized directly
He did but it was after weeks of backlash and doubling down
Yeah but first he doubled down on it.
I swear everyone should get a license before being allowed to use therapy language because narcissists have hijacked it for their own selfish purposes
Omfg "I'm an empath" 💀💀💀
Hot take but "empaths" are just people who are sensitive (nothing wrong with that) who wanted a better label for themselves.
@@natatatt being high-empathy or a "sensitive person" is normal and fine, I'm one myself. But labeling oneself an "empath", and making it their identity like some do, is just so pretentious, and a red flag to me that someone is getting high off their own farts. Just my experience.

he was a guest on a podcast that taped at Dynasty Typewriter that my m and i went to, and it was maybe a month or so before the strike and that’s what he talked about, his union activity (both unions), the contracts, AI, labor laws as applied to entertainment, and how much the TV landscape and thus screenwriting has changed since streaming and how the studios wanted things to keep getting worse for everyone actually making the work. my mom is the president of her own union chapter and I am highly interested in labor so we had a great time hearing him speak there!

Definitely Kuramo. Served him on an 8 hour international flight once and he was a total diva and was very clear his tv shite is all an act
And especially considering that his whole job is to judge unfortunate people’s lives and isn’t even a therapist or trained in any way
it's really upsetting because with the rose colored glasses, he was one of my favorites but after all the stories... man shouldn't have his show nor fame.
You took my thoughts about Tan right out of my head. I immediately thought "he doesn't have time to entertain this kind of stuff" lol
Bobby is married so i think it was karamo. Plus he has a shitty talk show so im sure he thinks that makes him the "most famous"
@@inventedcool1076 Right! He gives off mom-vibes: If there’s a problem, we’re gonna talk it out. No time for drama, there’s things to do and places to be.

Tan and Antony likely kept in touch after recordings were done and bonded, it's SO WEIRD to try to make drama out of it
Not most likely. It is definitely scripted, since all reality tv shows are scripted. Like as scripted as movies
Both JVN, their husband, AND their dog are lovely and were never anything but kind to me and my coworkers(:
is they/them the dogs preferred pronouns too?
I've watched a few eps, and Bobby always came across as the most down to earth one to me. That kind of person can't be around inflated egos for too long.
I sat behind Michael B Jordan at a basketball game once and the guy that was next to me was being very annoying (chirping at players, almost getting into a shouting match with Pat Beverly, trying to rope me into it, etc) and at a point I asked for Michael B Jordan to take a picture with me and my now wife, which he obliged. The dude next to me then asked him for a pic and he looked him dead in the eyes and said “sorry I have to go, but watch Creed tho!” and walked away
aw hell yeah. i love him, he’s def one of my celebrity crushes
a king fr fr
LMAOOOOOOOO
He is polite and is subtle.
Omg cool! Was it in "Do we shock you?"
she seems honestly so sweet and humble. the story about her dad breaks my heart. it’s nice to hear someone confirm it for me :)
She seems really sweet and smart
Sucks that she done so many plastic surgery

I might be aging myself but Karamo was on The Real World years ago! And he had maaaany issues with the cast members even then and had anger issues portrayed on the show
what was this show about?
@@_bebeboudeur_The Real World was one of the earliest reality shows. They would just take a bunch of young adults and put them in a house together for a few weeks like jersey shore’s older sister basically. It was a shitshow
Yeah, I never got over that either. Like, yea he was young but idk. Do people really change? It doesn’t help how so many people hide behind therapy speak these days.
@@Michael-ur5qb yeah exactly - like, he was young and was coming to terms with his sexuality at the time. But to your point, I think it seems like in generally he may have some issues defaulting to anger and acting out /struggling with people he’s close to if he hasn’t addressed it
Nothing wrong with knowing things. A lot of these people are “aging” themselves by not knowing what Queer Eye or The Real World are.
new queer eye is a little TOO feel good for me. always felt a little fake and maybe it was. the cop in season 1 grossed me out. the original is still gold to me. "Billy Joel is the iceberg lettuce of rock and roll" lmao
Agreed, I couldn’t make it past S1 it felt way too artificial and cultivated. Almost like watching trauma p0rn, yet so many of my friends and family ate it right up.
You can still watch the original, though.
glad it’s not just me, my parents love it (loved the original show) and i only watched a couple of episodes because it felt off lol
I love Mark Ruffalo. Have had a crush on him for ages. Nice to hear.
Two favs of mine, Ruffalo and BTS YoY thanks for sharing!
"he's a former friend that's why I feel comfortable sharing this story" THE GAYS ARE MESSSYYYYYYYY 😭
It's not fake. He's a licensed social worker and psychotherapist.
@@jnm2088he is not currently licensed. He was for a period of time in the early 2000s.
I'd love a Bobby design show. He brings so much thoughtfulness and personality to the places he work, I'd watch 5 seasons of it as a comfort show
There were some rumors JVN and Antony banged while they were both single during i think season 2 or 3, and if so there would make even more sense that Antoni and Tan are closer now while not that close with JVN - no big evil drama, just normal "we had a thing and now we are kinda awkward" maybe?
I just thought that Bobby probably got or wanted his own deal with HGTV or something and couldn't do both!
Just a heads up, better language to use for this is "guy who uses a wheelchair" or "a wheelchair user." Wheelchair "bound" is considered ableist
❤
Most people who are sane in the head just view the entertainment and move on. People obsessed with these people's personal lives are weird
Please don't tell her. Who knows what is true, this is just internet talk. Don't ruin something that's comforting to her over a youtube video.
Don't tell her.Let her enjoy it!It's just a show.
People like you are the worst.
Yeah I remember that and I like how they interact now. Seems very healthy
I believe Antoni has said he does have ADHD.
@SunnyGoesIn1D yea, I'm pretty sure it's in one of the first episodes of the show.
Like yeah the internet joked about the gravity of his job compared to Antony teaching everyone how to use an avocado but imagine how it feels from his perspective when Antony and others with far easier tasks were being glorified simply because they were more aesthetically pleasing.
i feel like they should have had a month later where they see the person enjoying their new home
Watching the show, I always felt like none of them liked JVN much. They are very full on, and I could see exasperation and condescension from the other members. You can see them rolling their eyes and making comments about their antics.
Really?? cause JVN is my favorite and seemed the most genuine out of them.
That sounds like hella projection babe 😅😬
@simont390 I like JVN, so not at all! I have a close friend with a similar personality and I see how people act towards her. It's very similar. Like they're "above" her because she's very silly and exuberant. It seems like quite a few people agree with me.
😂 Yeah him and antoni literally going to business together and having their funny joint account definitely shows that nobody ever liked jvn 🙄
This is why Karamo should just have nothing to do with the show. The fans love making the other 4 of them victims. Wonder why.
took a minute to realise you meant one person :)
*Straight-up, Bobby is the only effective one.*
I remember this bro with a 'fro; the clothing guy picked out some outfits that looked great, then the client showed up without the outfit and Clothing Guy didnt even bat an eye.
@@lug358OP is not talking about doing it BY HIMSELF, but doing it AT ALL. @@lug358 yeah, but why go through the effort of paying another person to do that job, if you already have one person that can do it? You're just being a skeptic and assuming all TV is the same. I don’t really understand how people got into this show when one episode played out Karamo getting pulled over by a cop as a gag…
Because they addressed it. From what I remember, he sat down with the cop and was like ‘I get that was funny to y’all, but I was fucking scared for my life and please understand that you have that type of power over people, please wield it wisely’. I thought it was a good moment; but it’s been years since I watched it.
That was so outrageous and uncomfortable

@@peachesandpoets i just see so cheesy and unrealistic that a bit of karamo talking to someone gets them to get the change of their lives, but ok

This is lovely to hear. He's always seemed like a genuinely nice human
Never again, they all suck lol
No, i dont really think they all suck, but im too old for drama now, and they are all drama, at least the ones that I've met.
Antoni was a “personal chef” for the previous queer eye food guy
i think i saw every single episode of what not to wear. i LOVED them
I miss them!
I would love a reboot with them. ❤
I just don't have a good feeling about that guy.
the guy who hosts Chopped on Food Network (Ted?) was on the OG Queer Eye as well, which is wild to watch back now knowing that's the same guy.
it’s not confirmed that kayla has been pregnant for the last nine months, BUT SHE JUST DELIVERED
Can we plz re-think this meme in 2024?
Not to be all "SnoWfLakeY" or w/e but just- pregnancy is such a touchy subject in general. It's likely within our best interest to not make jokes around it 🤷 idk
@@shannonceleste5557 as a fellow snowflake, girly you’re reading into things lol. it’s a well known joke that’s repeated everywhere, it has nothing to do with actual pregnancy, it’s a pun on the word delivered
Love Kevin Smith and Jay Mewes
Kevin Smith and Jaw Mewes are literally some of the most down to earth people you could ever meet.
yay the queen is back 💖
My celebrity encounter was meeting Gregory Maguire and having a fee signed books from him. I told him I did my senior thesis on Wicked and he gasped.
Favorite queer eye member: tan.
My first exposure to Karomo was all of that chef pi stuff. He was such a jerk. I can see him being disliked in real life.
I met Jeff Daniels years ago when he did a concert at a local college and he was super cool and nice. Just really down to earth and easy to chat with.
I've only ever watched queer eye to stare at Antoni.
the best celebrity interaction i had was meeting Evan Michelson from Oddities, the last time my family was in New York my mom found a bunch of Atlas Obscura stuff to do and one of these was the Obscura Antiques and Oddities shop! we had no intention of trying to meet anyone from the show, but Evan happened to be there and after an initial minute of being star-struck we got into a chill conversation with her and it was a lovely time. my parents bought something antique for our home’s walls and i still have the chicken bone dice and key i bought from the store
then there’s a whole story about my parents meeting Rosie Perez at a meet and greet which turned into my at the time infant brother being cast in one of her movies as her characters daughter lmao, she was very lovely and friendly to my family. i’m secretly hoping to one day have my own chance to meet her
I was working on a show in northern Norway in 2018.
Fact checked this Bobby is still following Tan and Antoni
Ever since the Pink Sauce lady thing…I kinda feel that Karamo may not be the best person to discuss issues because he usually work things with people without researching or even understanding the context of the issue…Bobby and JVN i think are the only ones who I think really knows their sh*t…or at least shows they have real life experiences of providing the same services as presented in the show…
Well, I don’t know them or ever watch their shows but I’m here for the drama that appeared on my feed 😂
They remind me of Directioners or Taylor fans. Like, grow up, it's a reality TV show people
I think people most likely didn’t assume it was Tan is because he's been married for years, no?
Bobby is my fave. He is the most sincere and sweet.❤
It’s such a comfort show to me this does kinda break my heart 😭
okay but coming out on tiktok with what you overheard from a castmate venting to people they had a personal relationship with is really fucked up. yeah if any of my friends came out with everything ive said about my coworkers i would sound petty and desperate because it's nice/fun to let off steam and pin the stress of the job onto people you work with in private, doesnt mean I actually go through my day feeling that way or that we cant have a productive working relationship anyway
not at all suprised if its Karamo after the seeing the pink stuff episode of his tv show and taking the side of the person clearly in the wrong dhdhdh
Girl you're making me feel so old lol. RuPaul's Drag Race started in 2009 and Queer Eye started in 2003, so they're not that far apart lol. Also how did you meet them but not know about Queer Eye? That's the biggest thing they're known for.
Pretty sure her job involves being around famous people, not necessarily knowing why they're famous.
It’s frustrating how little Antony does when Ted used to do a lot.
Bobby's post makes it sound like he got another job- something he's more excited about maybe?
Of all the cast members, Karamo is very sus to me. After the pink sauce debacle and just a few other he said/she said accounts I’ve heard of people meeting him. I do not trust him. I think they should recast him in the show and it would be fine.
I can’t wait to see how this turns out 🍿
It's so weird there's an expectation that their expected to be friends or be like they are on TV.
@@shannonceleste5557 that’s fine. I’m not really interested.
i've watched the new one (never saw the old one becuae when it came out i was way too young) and i kind of agree. i dislike the implication that this experience has to be life changing and will make problems go away and fix stuff. that may be the case when they renovate a school or help a wallflower find her style, but you can't treat those the same way as people who clearly struggle with mental health or are currently grieving a family member.
to imply that the latter situations will be fixed by a hair style, some new wall paper and most importantly, a big emotional crying breakdown is kind of unrealistic and sets standards that won't be achievable irl.
i'm generally very conflict avoidant so maybe that's why but i'd be very happy if it could just be the show where people get a nice new style and get some pretty new things and feel better about themselves because that's sometimes all that someone needs, without having all these expectations attached
I never liked that Karamo guy with his fake compassion. I wouldn't be surprised if he fooled everyone into thinking how wholesome he is...
I kind of understand why some shows where cast members just look at each other as co workers
I had no idea this was happening. I'm glad I found this video.
Great experience!!
i met a german tv guy, they filmed at the place i worked doing a social experiment, and i waited the table during the shoot so yeah
