CH341a data pins are current limited to something ridiculously low, i forget, something like 2mA, so the inherent pin drive resistance and the protection diodes end up eating the voltage difference. If you don't have a CPU connected that should be OK but it's not quite proper and i'm not sure i'm considering all the corner cases. Most CH341A boards are made supplying CH from 5V instead of 3V3 and it still works not killing every single 3V3 chip either. Ch341 is very very slow though so one wouldn't be using that given a choice, and other programmers have a different voltage-current behaviour.
@@SianaGearz Ive heard about that multiple times and people have told me that they where succesful! But i want to be sure, i had it before, where i had a bad flash with a 3.3V programming on a 1.8V chip!
14:58 to check eeprom data fixation, bad byts, for exemple.. in your eeprom writer fill all 00 and write and verify.. they all must be what you write 00. do the same but now using FF. some times have a error that is the same as the file i need to write, so the verification givew me ok, but that 0x00xx was bad. and you will not find.
I have this same motherboard. i was using my PC and suddenly it turned off. After that, there were no signs of power. changed the PSU still had no luck. The next day when I tried to test it again it turned on but the Mosfet near the two capacitors on IO side burnt and smoked.fortunately Processor was not in the socket:) Now pc runs fine but I'm worried that it might damage the processor. What do you think I should replace the damaged Mosfet?i watched so many videos of yours and learned a lot. I'm confident enough to replace the MOSFET if I have to do so🙃 waiting for your suggestion.
Lower end boards are most of the time not worth repairing money wise! For experience and knowledge they are great or sometimes for content, but money wise they are not!
I have the CH341A board, I haven't tried flashing a BIOS yet, where do you get the software program from? I see some of these BIOS boards come with a disk(software program). Can you direct me to a program I can use with this. Thanks.
I'm a bit uncomfortable with that hot air near these plastic connectors around the BIOS chip without any protection. Especially after i saw the melted connector on your programmer adapter. I suggest at least use some kapton tape to protect these connectors
No issues with an AsRock B550 Steel Legend with a Ryzen7 5800 in it, GA and MSI are meh, Asus is the same too now, just poor manufacturer quality from the pcb makers.
Actually the chipsets or the PCH´s in my experience fail way more often on Intel Boards! Ive never had a B450 Chipset fail on me and ive worked on a lot of these, but for example X99 or Z270 Chipsets are dying left and right!
@@wolf1438 Oh you mean in general intel or AMD boards, i just tend to not buy the intel ones haha, they have way to many times a dead Chipset, so there is a lot more dead intel boards, but i just dont work on them!
you got lucky w the QFN8 wson8 6x8mm chip.. the adapter pins sometimes touch center ground pad under chip and wont detect so try kapton tape under center ground... or get the yellow adapter for them cheap. also try asprogrammer but ch341a is not a pros tool.. try T48 or RT809F or even cheap xp866+
The failure of the BIOS chip and the stuck CPU LED was very interesting.(Thank you)
Great job. I have always been flashing 1.8v bios chips with CH341A which is 3.3v. Never had any issues with it.

I should defenetly try that first next time before tossing the chip! Tahnk you!
great work love watching your repair vid's
Hello i have this motherboard and my pc doesn't want to start with 2 rams inside, only with 1, my both slots work and both rams, what should i do?
Thanks for a great video
Your camera has some focus breathing issues. Something changed lately?
Ive noticed, nothing really changend, i need to figure out why there camera wants to refocuss so often, thank for mentioning!
I’m have this same problem the pc turn on but it stuck on the cpu light what do I have to do?
There are a lot of reasons for this! If you dont have any experience working on a motherboard, this is sadly not an easy fix! Sorry!
Do you need to make any changes to the bios file downloaded from the msi official website?
Nope MSI bioses are good to use from the manufactuarer site!
Why w25q256jweq ic not working?

@@galaxytech1 If you have the proper equipment i would say go for it, but try it out on a scrap board first, to get a feeling for the heat needed!

Nice video, I realy enjoy, can I ask you which one adapter you using for flashing bios?
The adapters, that i use are either from the CH341A or are self made!

I got to be honest, sometimes my work is a bit quick and dirty and i really could do with some kapton!
A lot of repairs are around AMD chipset. Is it on purpose or AMD motherboards are more prone to fail?
