@@MenchieExtrakt👍. If a song portrays a character through extended monologues and an emotive transatlantic delivery(which you can easily imagine this message being spoken as if you want), i am terribly sorry but it's widely gonna sound more "theatrecore"(at least of a particular era) than other songs off of that fact alone, whereas an instrumental piece can feature a drastically different vibe than that, by virtue of not having our skinny bloke crooning inappropriately on the track (though the instrumental likely will retain a bit of the same compositional juice of the other). both the songs are good to me but how are they equivalent? how is it crazy to like or dislike something on the basis of what it reminds you of, especially when the songs are this different to each other? because for your information not only is holy, holy theatrecore compared to the new sound, it just is theatrecore compared to other music in general, up to and including actual theatre music, which is fine because who tf cares
theres obv a ton of zappa influence on the album but the title track really comes through in that mid-late 70s era zappa vibe. Like I can totally envision the Sheik Yerbouti-era band performing that crescendo for sure.
I feel like i completely missed a chapter by not listening to Holy Holy until the album came out. Didn’t listen to any singles or teases, just waited. I'm sure we'll get a proper release of Cameron's work by at least some time next year. There's a bunch of his live solo performances on youtube which are really cool. I sense some John Fahey and Robbie Basho influences
In case anyone is interested in an interpretation, it seems to me that the character from Holy, Holy (a priest, or some other famous figure) has fallen in love with a prostitute. As if waltz is the character fantasizing about "pretty woman-ing" her and whisking her away and wishing he didn't meet her at a brothel, etc. But he only has an hour because that's what he's paid for.
