why is the stabilization off on the Hero 5 for more than have the video? i know the internal stabilization is much improved on the Hero 6 but this comparison is apples to oranges unless the Hero 5 has it's stabilization on at the same time the Hero 6 has it on. especially while on the tray or pole.

yeah, it's called "marketing". Most of the people will see shaky 5 and smooth 6 and run to the store to buy 6.
You can also stabilize it later in software, which is the same as what's going on in the 6.

Okay I see, stabilization on is a must have!
I would like to know whether the stabilization reduces the resolution or field of view and how much more battery time it needs.
Mitch this was great you can really notice it! However I would like to see slowmo 1080 120 stabilised on the 6 compared to non stabilised 120 hero 5. I think this is the thing we all want to see the most

Hero 6....yes is suppose to have better stabilisation but a valid comparison with the 5 would have been with the stabilisation set on both cameras...?

I did a comparison video of the 5 vs the 6 and im amazed how much better the 6 is not just for its stabilization but also its colours and picture quality. Gopro really have stepped up the game. Which they needed to do as to me the Hero 5 was not their greatest release.

hero 6 is on my list now since i shoot mountain bike videos and if you are a mountain biker you know it's all about hero 4 and wearable gimbals. hero 6 is closely as stable as a gimbal?? definitely on my to buy list for this Christmas

Great comparison. Thanks! What editing software are you using to deal with the 4K60fps videos? GoPro uses the H.265/HEVC (.MP4) video file format and it is proving difficult to work with.

This video was in 2k, so I'm still no wiser, does the stabilization work in 4k finally with Hero 6? If yes, my next question would be... is it better, worse or the same as a Sony X3000?

Hi Mic, how much FOV you loose on the Hero 6 stabilization, still around 10% like on hero 5? How does it work on 4K as on Hero 5 $k stabilization is not working, what is the difference?

Love the review. I got the hero 5 couple weeks ago and the karma gimble...not knowing of the 6 coming out. Exchanged the 5 for 6 and saw how improved stabilization is and returned the karma grip next day. So amazing mounted on a chesty mountain biking

I'm really impressed with the stabilisation in the Hero 6.
Incredible. Sound on the Hero6 is kind of muffled compared to Hero5, and I also heard some kind of high pitched whine during the running sequences - maybe stabilisation mechanism?

Can the GoPro Hero 6 do stabilization at 4k or is it the same settings at the 5?
Not a hardcore videographer, but you sold me on the stabilization. Bike trip in India coming up looking at the Hero7 , 3 prices and 3 to choose from? which do you go for ? and whats the easiest editing software for mac, without having to convert files etc??

I always love your videos. The other noticeable difference is the color saturation. The Hero 6 is definitely better. Does it still use the same battery?

Seems Hero 6 has an enormous annoyng stability software issue. When you try to keep the holding steady it's extremely good, but once you pan, slide or you make slow movements image twiches violently. What do you think?

Why u Off The Stabilization from Hero 5 And the Hero 6 is On ?
And why you put the Hero 6 on The Karma Grip and the Hero 5 is not ?
He is trying to show that the GoPro 6 with stabilization on is almost as good as a GoPro 5 with stabilization off and mounted on a gimbal.
Yes that's right, I don't have two Hero6.
Eason, in the video I didn't put Hero6 on the gimbal... only Hero5 on gimbal
the hero 5 was in the Karma Grip
hbstudio14 the GoPro 5 was mounted on a gimbal on the tray, and the GoPro 6 just on the tray. Both were on the tray to have the same shake and handling. Again he just wanted to highlight the amazing stabilzation of the 6 vs the 5 w/gimbal. Clearly the gimbal was powered on during the testing.
Can you compare Hero 6 with Xiaomi's Action Camera (4k/60fps). Thanks
Is it correct that the stabilization won ´ t work with 4K 60 FPS and 240 FPS at 1080? How to use then that FPS in action?
