Even if it wasn't a high enough score to perform it herself, her bar routine gave the team enough points at qualifiers to make it to finals at all. She 100% earned her gold medal ❤
Her bar score was dropped, as it was the lowest of the four. But she still earned her medal because she honored her role on the team which is participate in the quals and be ready to sub if needed. She did both. Medal earned.
@@abbierubletz3904 Ohhh okay, I guess I missed the part about bars being dropped as well. Bummer, but she was amazing and I am so pumped to see her again in 2028
this happens. I don't understand why there is so much chatter about the what ifs. There were very specific reasons. She was there for security in the event they needed a BB/UB worker to fill in. She went to quals, her scores were not needed, thus dropped. She didn't have to put on a final to prove anything. She was not needed because everyone who she could fill in for was healthy. That was a good thing. I realize that people wanted someone else. But even that someone else would have likely had their scores eliminated and also sat out of finals for the same reason. Hezly has huge potential and she's going to be positioned to lead the next Quad. I do hope that if she gets a college offer she accepts it. She's a smart young lady. Dad's an engineer. Many olympians and ncaa have careers outside of the sport. If she can get an education that would be great for her.
@@tc_0766 she showed up and did her routines. She had a few bobbles but she was there. Nothing more , nothing less. That is why it is called the TEAM competition.
Congratulations to the Youngest member of the team... At the end of each Olympics they call on the Youth of the world to assemble in the next Host city / nation. ❤
maybe she was sad, like it's big win for USA, but I am sure she wants to compete too. And they could give her compete in one event as Jade did and USA will still win gold even with her lower score. So she was just looking at everyone compete when she wasn't compete herself. Also she could think she doesn't deserve gold medal if she didn't compete in finals. Or she knows there will be many people talking and overall hating her and saying she doesn't deserve gold medal and that someone else should be in team. She is 16, so she probably doesn't know how ignore hate.
@@janiceshepherd7752 she was smiling but it was that kinda smile that doesn’t reflect in your eyes. I felt for her, she will do amazing next Olympics but I wish they gave her a chance.
I didn't even know that a team member could be sidelined in the team final. That's very unfortunate for her but she's so young and I'm sure we'll be seeing a lot more from her in the years to come ❤
@@stephanieharper3874 Jade was sick with food borne illness, that's why her FX was down. She is the second best vaulter and floor worker on the US team and no one can replace or better her there except Simone, that is undisputed.
Her time is now! if she wasn't meant to be on the team then she wouldn't be there. but she is there! she earned her spot. she did her job by competing in qualifications. And she stood on the podium and they put a gold medal around her neck, just like the rest of the team! And hopefully there will be another time for her in 2028! But even if there isn't, she has a gold medal now!!!
I'm confused how she was able to medal even though she didn't compete? I thought the team final score was a result of every girl from that country combined.
In team finals they count 3 scores per apparatus per country (don't matter if it's coming from which gymnast), ideally each member contribute at least in 1 apparatus but since her scores in qualifying were all bad they didn't want to risk it and put other gymnasts instead
This the result of the games, she in no perfect but she did her job , no perfect , but, she will be , we can see in the future , very good spirit and the future USA team is older and we showed the future
I thought every team select themselves who they put to compete for each event. So unfair, chile's balance beam score didn't end up any diffrent as she also had a fall.
your comment doesn't even make sense. she did her routines in the qualification round. in the finals, they went with the veterans and higher scorers. its like any other team sport. sometimes not everyone gets to play. unbelievable how people don't know this basic concept. SMH!
She’s only 16, she’s gonna come back in four years and will kill it
Everyone on the team did their part. They are gold medal winners, all five. Hezly Rivera is a 1x Olympic gold medalist. You cannot change that.
She made it to the Olympics! That alone is an enormous achievement 👏👏👏
She did good in qualifications! She'll be around for a while!! Hopefully in 2028!!!
She did her part! They did what was best and it worked! Congrats Ladies!
I just want Hezly Rivera to know she deserves the gold medal around her neck that her team as a whole won. She is worthy. 🏅✨
