Love how Gramps can still recall every detail about his old tractor. Farming has sure evolved since he started, but wonder if he misses the simpler times
Hello Matthias, I think I'd have left the new metal patches unpainted. Then, when people ask about it, you can tell them that's where the doggie door was for our old guard dogs. We have new guard dogs now, and the old doggie doors were to small. We're waiting for the larger doors to be delivered. Then, we will fix any paint issues.
Haha. Linda if I would've left them unpainted it would of drove me bonkers for a long time, but I like your idea about the guard dogs. You must have some big guard dogs then?
@@HiTech_Farmer No, we didn't have a guard dog. We had a Chihuahua, he was mean, and he thought he was a guard dog. He was our in the house dog. We had 3 other dogs that were outside dogs, none of them were guard dogs either, but they were good hunting dogs. They each got old and passed on. It's like losing a family member. When the last one passed away we decided not to have any more dogs.
New trees will be planted, but on the other side of the creek eventually. Yes my grandpa still farms and I'll get back over there and give you a little tour
hahah. I mentioned the holes. I feel bad I made you do all this work.. on the plus side it's patched and looks great! And a field trip to Grandpa's shed! Does the Allis-Chalmers need DEF? lol.
I would have just put a small patch over or behind the holes and sealed it with Dynaflex 230 caulk. You could have painted the patch with a brush or small roller.
Ummm..., just an observation, you look exactly like your grandad which means if you take a look at him, you can pretty much see what you're going to look like in not too many years..., and man oh man, do they go by quick.
@@HiTech_Farmer I'm glad that you now take my comment in the spirit it was meant which is to say that there was no offense meant. It's just that I'm one of those people that's often fascinated by the resemblance of the younger generation to their older relatives and in your case the resemblance to your grandfather is striking, in my opinion. Not necessarily good looking or bad looking or anything in between, but strikingly similar. Excuse me if I am somehow out of line.

It's impressive to see. I just wish I could buy a tractor for $750 today
Why are taking out all of your beautiful trees? Trees gives your farm some character!
Some were dead and planted too close to the ash trees. New one's will be planted eventually
The old tractors are cool, you should do a tour of the old equipment. Greetings from Dundalk, Ireland.
Thanks for the comment. I'll see what I can make happen
1953 tractor still starts and purrs like a kitten. I wonder if any of the new 2024 John Deeres will still be running that good in 2095?
That's a good question. My gut instinct says no

No doubt dogs are like family members. Some day I'll get another dog for the farm
A skid steer with a grapple would have been nice?
No doubt, but we made due with what we have
Need a complete tour of Grandpas place I saw a Massey in there!!
Haha, yes he's got some gems in there. A few one owner machines as well
are you going plant any new trees where old trees were? Does your grandpa still farmer? you need to do a Tour of your grandpa farmer?

Thanks for pointing it out, I'm glad it's done. Also the o'l Allis definitely doesn't need DEF. Heck it hardly needs any ether to get it going!
I learned how to run a tractor on an AC, then JD 75. Also, I wanna come to the big fire this winter!! Lol
Nice! You’d fit right in. And you're definitely invited to the bonfire this winter! 😄🔥
Spurs..., and I'll say no more, but they are hazardous sharp. (I swanny, kids)
I think I would have used some Bondo lol 😂
Would've been simpler

Are you going to put some caulk on the repaired tins below the screws?
Yes, I did. That should keep the water out

Haha, I'll take that as a compliment. And no doubt life goes by quick
@@HiTech_Farmer It was meant as a compliment.
Haha good deal

Your grampa can't hear very well because he, like my dad, spent a lot of years with a JD B or Allis popping in his ears!
That’s very true! Plus he is a retired carpenter so he worked around a fair amount of loud saws
