Hi, when I am testing for a leak in that area without any specialty tools, I should be play testing with the neck attached but without tightening the neck screw, and then do the same when I apply the teflon tape. Am I correct to say that?

How’s about king super 20 double wall necks? Just expand the body side tenon?

These are more involved. The inner sleeve of the neck needs to fit tight on the inside diameter of the body tenon. The collar on the neck goes around the "tenon" on the body tube and prevents it from rotating. What you're fitting is the inner tenon on the neck to the ID of the tenon on the body tube. The outer sleeve is not used for airtightness, it's just used to keep the neck from rotating as the player is playing. Hope this help!

Meta on Metal is not good . My tenon is forever wearing out on my MK6. So frustrating , leaking like nobody's business

Sounds like it's time to have it fit! Tenons can become out of round quite easily on instruments that are played all the time, especially if the material is a little thinner like on the vintage Selmers.
