    Thanks! This was great. Just did my first cork replacement and it turned out beautiful! Only took two tries! Wish I could share pics on here!

    Great video. Using your technique, valentino cork and your adhesive I successfully replaced the neck cork on my alto sax! Looks great. My Jody Jazz metal mouthpiece is now happy again!

    Great video, although I do not have the courage to do this myself, it's good to be informed.

      It’s fun. Do it! The good thing is there’s really no way to permanently hurt anything and you can always just take it to a repair tech to finish if you can’t get it. (as long as you tape off the neck to avoid any scratches on the neck). I just finished mine based off of this video and it went great! Took two tries because I ended up chipping some of the cork off on the first round when I was folding it right now, but the next time I just eat at the corner of a little bit and it went great.

    Thanks for this very instructive video. I ask you, what thickness of cork sheet do you recommend for the neck of a soprano sax?

    • @evantaylor113
      @evantaylor113 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      probably too late but you can just sand down the cork with some fine sand paper. I usually start with somewhere between 120-220 and finish with 300-400 grit paper.

    Hello there Jeff,
    That's a great video(tutorial), but there is a thing that bothers me a bit. There are few offers on Cork plate layer like 1.00/2/3 mm and how should I know which one to use for my tenor? Thanks in advance

    Or a dozen or so elastic bands will do just as well.
    Better in a way, as you can make the grip as tight or slack as you need.

    No need to use cork for this, just use the EVA which is perfect! EVA does not take humidity lasts longer, and does not deform even if the mouthpiece is directly on sax for a long period of tempo.Basta use any glue contact and pronto.Uma EVA sheet 1-1, 5 mm thick by 40cm 50cmx costs R $ 1.5 and R $ 3.00 to glue the tube! I use many years ago and is perfect !!!

    • @parsfreitas
      @parsfreitas 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      EVA is a rubberized that is sold in sheets of different thicknesses! It is often used in school work of children, and here is found in stationery stores. We utilize a thickness of 1.5 mm. Here in Brazil to purchase a sheet of 60 cm x 40 cm for U $ 0.30 or less. EVA has the same texture and flexibility of cork and the lifetime, depending on the quality, it may be even greater than cork. With a sheet you can use to more than 50 instruments with ease. I use this material for a long time, successfully!
