Sorry mate but, what are you doing! As an owner of a r1250rs, I always thought it was water cooled, definitely not air and oil! Also, you don't knock the throttle off when changing up, it's fitted with a quick shifter, always keep the throttle on. Hopefully this tip will help you get more enjoyment from the ride.
I absolutely adore my RS in Austin Yellow. With 90% of my miles being back road/ highway commuting, it does everything I could ask. Coming from a S1kXR it feels like home, but a bit more mature.
I am about to do the same transition. However, I have sporty roots as a rider. Don´t want to regret the change. Can you explain more about your experience?
I just test drove one and really enjoyed the experience. Seating position is more like my R100S and is overall more similar to that airhead than a 2017 GS I had. Agree with the relaxed comment - it’s fine for puttering around town, but it can perk up and grab some corners. That wide “user band” is what stood out to me. Brakes are fantastic, motor is smooth, powerful. Overall impressions match the commentary here.
The bike is very attractive but, what repels me is BMW’s honeypot “packages” and dealer installed accessories. Reminds me of someone who loved me so much she couldn’t wait to change me.
I enjoyed your initial review. I just purchased the triple black a few weeks ago, and I love it. I made a few adjustments because I am 5' 7". I initially went with the lower seat but hated it. So, I went back to the standard. I have ordered a bar back, to make it a little more comfortable and an Akrapovic slip-on. I can't wait to get them installed.
HI I just purchased this bike a few weeks ago and love it. I am about your height and decided to stay with the stock seat and I am glad that I did. A sporty bike for me needs to sit in that way for a nimble ride. I purchased my bike and it had the tubular bars on it. At first I thought that I would not like it but glad that stayed with it. How do you like your bike now?
Hello, I have really enjoyed it! The ride is more comfortable after adding the bar back, and the Akrapovic slip-on provides a more deeper sound.@@p-dub7422
@larrygeter1930 Thanks! What color bike did you get? I got a triple black. I am thinking putting bmw cylinder guards on it but they only come in silver and I prefer black.
I did a test drive this bike a couple of days ago. This is the bike I was dreaming on for years, but I wanted to test it anyway. I had it for about 3 hours, the bike it has standard bars. I really liked the engine, it's pretty fast, torquy, as you said, is very elastic, nothing bad about that, only good thing, I absolutely loved it! What I didn't liked much was the riding position, I own an F800R and riding the R1250RS is worse. The position is less crouched, but more leaning forward, this caused me pain in the lower back and wrists, in some cases numbness in the hands, and in general pain in the arms up to the trapezius and shoulders. I don't think you can ride for too long with a setup like that. Maybe the tubular handlebar can improve the situation, but I don't think it can work miracles. For this reason I don't think is the bike for me, and I'm really sorry for that.
My first liter bike was a 2011 R1200r Classic. After moving on to several S1000xr models I felt the old boxer had a lot more character and a much visceral feel to it. Currently waiting on my 2024 and honestly I have never been able to purchase a bike w/o pretty much the full option list this time (Triple Black) this time. I agree the low seat actually makes rides over two hours down right painful as my legs seem to be folded tightly underneath me. I am 5' 11" and 175lbs so I would say the standard or even the Sports seat option is a better choice.
Very nice bike video as well done I’m definitely a Bmw guy I ride and tour on a R 90 I’ve had a RS in the past that I’m only five 830 inch inseam so the seat on the IRS is a bit toll for me it’s an excellent bike or anything you want to do is stay upright
Had triumph trophy se..very heavy and all weight up top. Sold it. Has it 5 years. Loved it but got too old. Thinking of going to test ride one of these. Does it have tpms?
I have this and for once, since 2015, the Option 719 packs look good on the Triple Black. The Austin Yellow was imo the best colour but no longer available new. PS I did tick all the options 😅
thanks for the clip- Im on a K1200rs and one of my favorite features is the adjustable seat. Im 6'4" and that extra few inches of lift on my bike makes a huge difference. Does this new offering from those crazy Bavarians have an adjustable seat, suspension, bars, etc? thanks!
Good review! I have been on the fence about this bike for some time and have not been able to pull the trigger. I use to have a R 1100RS and it was one of the best bikes I ever had. I sold it because after years of riding it I wanted something lighter etc. I regretted it later and have never been able to find anything like it. I assume this bike is an evolution of what I had at that time but more sporty now. I have mixed feelings because I do not ride the distances that I use to but I like a lot of things about this including the shaft drive. So, I will stay tuned to your videos and we will see. BTW, what kind of gloves are you riding with I like them. Who is the manufacturer? Thanks
I had a 2021 r1250rs in gold for a time. Definitely a unique ride. Tons of controllable torque but it wasn’t for me. A few downsides for me was the screen, though adjustable, was still piss poor to me. Seat gets hard after an hour or so. Boxer sound is uninspiring to me. It’s a great bike but it’s a little bland. More touring than sport.
I am looking at trading my S1000RR and have been thinking about this. I just wish I could get the engine and chassis without all the tech crap. Just good suspension, a rain mode and ABS and steam gauges. I really don't care for all of the tech. Yet most people love it. I guess Im odd, but I'd love to actually know how truly useful it is to people.
Bike is “heavy”? Compared to what? What’s comparable? The Moto Guzzi V100 is 25lbs lighter but In scheme of things that’s not much. I could stand to lose a few pounds, so that could help. Never buy new! You can find very slightly used loaded up RS’s for $16k or less (meaning bags).
I don't care if you call it 'an old man's bike'. I'm an old man, and I love it. We exist you know, and we deserve to ride something. Back in the day I had the original Fireblade, if I tried to ride it now, I'd be in pain for a week. Still riding, never gonna stop.

It is water cooled!
The twin cam was an oil and air cooled bike.
Only the Heads are water cooled on the 1250, the inner part of the cylinders are Air/Oil.
Owned a 1150GS for 20K miles. The review is spot on about BMW boxer feel and features.

I like that it's now available with the tubular handlebars from the R. They are much more comfortable.
Too late for me! Wanted the RS but went for the R on account of a better seating position last year😊
I prefer the shorter clip ons
@@your_royal_highness They do look good. Are you leaned more forward with the clip ons? Thank you.

Maybe take a look at the RT. It has a more relaxed riding position. There’s always the GSA that is super comfortable.

Can't wait to hear your thoughts on the V100 Mandello from Guzzi
someone from cali it always sucks to see someone waiting at a redlight all the way back.. we just split lanes to the front
I noticed the red line drastically changed initially. Is that due to cold starts and then warms up to raise it?
Love the show ... Have a beautiful Tuesday Everyone ✌️
I have a R1250GS, love it and the boxer engine.

It rides amazing. Feels just a little sterile but will do whatever you want it too
I have a 2016 RS and I love it. I am looking to trade for the 1250. Thank you for the video. I love your gloves - what are they?
It’s funny you should mention the XSR as the contrast because that’s exactly what I’m moving from to buy this
Had triumph trophy se..very heavy and all weight up top. Sold it. Has it 5 years. Loved it but got too old. Thinking of going to test ride one of these. Does it have tpms?

Thank you. Any thoughts on what a future rs would be line with a 1300 engine?
36 to 287 up to WY, pretty ride if not particularly windy. BC WY is truly Windy. "Weather" in CO - WY they 😂 - long stretches of open roads though👍!
I'd say a more direct analogy to the R1250RS is the 1290 Super Duke GT.

Hope to see this bike in the MotoAmerica SuperHooligans class to compete with the Indian ftr and Harley panAm. There’s only an R9T for now
I have a R1200R. The boxer engine is great for real world daily riding.

I agree with your assessment. Love mine.
I think you nailed the spirit of this bike, I agree so much tat I just aquired for the same reasons you mentioned 😉✌

I got an aeroflow touring screen and Corbin seat. Bland is fine by me!
How do the R1250RS panniers compare to the GS’s? Would love to see a comparison during a real trip.
Me too, I'm trying to decide on between the 2 and want a full comparison video.
Do you ever tow with the bikes?
Why doesn't it have a stereo... it's such a big bike...but why?
Is it just me or does the red line on the dash slowly eases out as the engine gets warmer? Never noticed that on other bmw tft displays
I can confirm it does this ..

air and water* cooled.
You FINALLY got it? What took so long? 😅
Clutch for 1st gear only.
Hey bike reviewers, stop saying you don’t feel it’s weight once you start moving. That applies to every bike so saying that makes you sound silly!

What makes it triple black?
The three black colours.
watercold top
You keep mentioning it’s heavy. Over and over. It’s a 1250cc bike, what do you expect , 450lbs?
This is ridiculous how you are changing with clutch a gear, and saying that transmission is very smooth 😁 instead of telling us how quick shift works
v an R90s!
143nm of torque not 105
105 ft-lbs is correct.
Still an "old man's bike".
In what way?
Is a Porsche 911 an "old man's car" because you can't afford it either?
Took mine on track, at 42...smoked most of the losers on their full sports bikes....old man I think not
I don't care if you call it 'an old man's bike'. I'm an old man, and I love it. We exist you know, and we deserve to ride something. Back in the day I had the original Fireblade, if I tried to ride it now, I'd be in pain for a week. Still riding, never gonna stop.
I am not finding any reason to own/spend any cash on that type of BMW. Regards
0:44 Not a minute in and already BS. This engine is (mainly) liquid cooled. Do your homework.
It's not a motorcycle, but luxury car on two wheels. If you crush it from a cliff you will be crying. Waist of money.
Meh. This particular machine does nothing for me. In fact, detracts the word cool from my vocabulary. It is not a hate thing. Just.. blah.
Have you ridden one? And that's not what "detracts" means.
They're not for everyone, just like an R1 is not for everyone, and that doesn't make it a bad bike, it's all about choices.
Every bike I had, chose me.
@@paulv22 Detract - Diminish the worth or value of. Check your dictionary. Because in the context of use, it is exactly how I meant it to be used.
@@WW-wf8tu Oh, that's why I misunderstood. The problem was grammar. "Detracts from the word cool", not "Detracts the word cool from".
