I was fortunate to work as a helper for a seasoned welder in a fab shop. Learned a ton and still have full respect for him sharing his knowledge. That was 25 years ago. I still love fabrication. Those guys can make a big difference in someone’s outlook on a trade.

I think I'm gonna do the same, and charge their employer for training them, and collect revenue on advanced drum building. But the expense is really overwhelming for any welder. I've never been certified, never took a class except in plumbing school, pipe welders and plumbers worked together. I rebuild concrete mixer drums and avg 3500 a week. I only use 6011- 3/16 rods and 7018 -3/16 rods. But only about about 20 people can do my welding
Watching this make me miss welding. I always welded in factory settings. I'm actually trying to get back into welding. So I'm really looking forward to it.

Austin. hi, my name is Andy, I worked pipeline for about ten years, I want to tell you my story some time. I like your videos and find myself watching them a lot. Part of my story is I came out of the hall green to pipeline as a laborer (Labor Foreman on heavy highway work for 20 years) then the Millennium pipeline came through New York, 382 miles along the western tear of NY state, I worked on 2 spreads with one of the most hard core Superentindents ever , won't say his name but its RF, well after 2 years green I became #1 and 1/2 on the call list, It was the best 10 years of my life, I met many great folks, welders, helpers, drivers, operators and laborers, with whom I still send Christmas cards with. I did a short stint as assistant Safety man, not my favorite roll but I got to meet everyone up close on our 500 plus spread. One small, very small tip, have your helper put a guard on that grinder. I know I know believe me I know, but almost any job in 2019 they can run you off for that. I would like to share my story with you.. Keep on keeping on and be safe, God Bless.. Andy..

Tommy Greist I just graduated high school and I compete in skills USA for the state of California for aluminum Tig and placed 7 however there is no money so I’m learning pipe
How much would you say he's making in that type of position? And what are the hours like? Seems interesting and very intriguing.
Josh Golden he’s making somewhere between 36-42 a hour and 100-150 a day perdiem. And that’s not counting his rig truck he may be making 75-100 a hour 60-84 hour weeks I’m sure .
Michael Rensel I meant the welder helper but that sounds like he’s making bank!
Why are you running vertical down @ 12:00?
Didn't think that was allowed
Before being a helper do you need to know anything? Besides the welding we do in highschool I don’t know a thang!
Well, it helps if you have some kind of welding or grinding experience.
Bobby Roberts no just be ready to work and learn. That is all. Remember the 3 golden words “sure, no problem”
I can really feel the atmosphere
🤩
If you in western pa areas you might know my uncle he’s an inspector
I like seeing somebody finally put out videos to give you a taste of how it goes out on the ROW. I'm looking forward to a how to drag a shit show video in the future.
You should change out your leaf springs and shocks and anti sway bars front and rear and beefy tie rods to eliminate the bumps
I wanna be a helper!!!!! Idk how to get started.
It was good video. Two partners getting along. Looks like fun being welders helper. 👍
I’ve been watching your videos and one day I saw your truck on Outlaw Diesels Facebook page . Are you from the Stillwater area ? I’m currently working as a helper in Cushing Oklahoma but I’m staying by Stillwater
JOSE LUIS Serrato
Yes i am from Stillwater. It’s a small world. Thanks for watching.
That's what I did from time to time a welders helper, I worked with some great guys.
Love it! Keep em coming brother
I was at the Newark energy project where those guys welded schedule 120 pipe
Give helper a reason to breakout, video him doing a bevel on that pipe with the 7"
Can you explain, Front end, Tie in's and Road bore's. Thanks!!
Do u guys get paid well like 100k a year?
Usually ya, really depends on the year, how busy you stay and how much work is goin on. Check out this video:

Nice Crew!!
Im at the NM University taking Welding Classes, trying to get my degree. Dont know what's up out there, but thanks to showed up those videos, so we can learn real life everyday. 👊
Let me guess they are 30 inch pipes btw you are really good at grinding and buffing.
Also isn't it unsafe to operate the welding machine while in a pickup.
In my site my contractor doesnt allow that. But what you are doing really saves alot of time other wise you have to frequently transport the welding machine from one location to another within the plant.
This video is awesome! I am really considering looking more into this career
Hello
Okay i am new to this welding information i am 19 and i am about 6 months away to being a certified welder i don't know much about it still but i was wondering what a pipeline welder is and what's there job and is it a good job or not if anyone can help me with that much appreciated 🙏🏽
Pipelines is where the bread is at! 💰💰
@@orlandovalley2962 please explain? How does one apply? Seriously!
Nothing beats work on the ROW. Be safe
Anyone else catch him saying “fatticus” instead of “staticuss”😂😂😂
Well, that is my nickname 🤣
Hey Austin I have a question, why do you have to constantly heat the pipe with the tiger torch?????
Nice. I’m a first year apprentice at local 597 Chicago fitters👍🏻
well done....good to buff off or grind rust pain to a distance of to say 20 mm from joint bevel edge... so that welding process.. not draw it..the impurities.. into the weld metal.. weakening the weldmetal and joint ..enjoyed.. yr video..well done..enjoy hols..christmas..new year say warm... thank u for a wonderfull video..i wish , i had a good trades assitant.. when i was welding..

Ya a lot of us are starting over. Got to change with the times. President Trump bring back American Made products again, a lot of construction and Steel plants coming back= More Jobs. Not to bring politics into this but damn I'f the man can bring back jobs I'm for it.
44? Nuh man you are good keep your head up.
Does it look like it?
Nope! Welders are always in demand and as long u know your shit then you’re good
Average age of a welder is in the mid 50s I'm pretty sure
I like the fact that your video's aren't laced with an excess of profanity.
Thanks !
11:10 Gd hand you ground all in the bevel 😂😂 good video
