Sigma most utility (natural gas), pipeline companies, and electric grids need “system operators/controllers”. These jobs don’t require a degree (although it helps). Most of us are prior military or have 10+ years doing something else for the utility company. It’s a job that requires you to speak and write in very good English (no urban talk, broken English....). You should have some sort of technical background (utility technician, welder, construction). It’s not an easy job to get because there are very few (my control room has 12 permanent controllers to operate everything in the state)
Sigma Absolutely. PLCs are the means of control on a pipeline. Your familiarity with I/Os, analogue and digital, control loops, regulation, pressure and flow control, and safe operating practices, maintenance, clearance process, SAP, SCADA, etc have already given you a basic understanding of pipeline ops. I’d suggest putting together a resume to showcase this knowledge then get to work applying. Also look into being a pipeline technician. The welding machine.. just like any machine makes a tried and tru weld. More consistent they any human could do in a timely manner. People are just there for quality control.
This is much more sophisticated than when i was working as a welders helper one summer, what I did was set up the pipe to be welded, grinding, cleaning pre heating and setting up the gear, that took about 30 minutes, then the welder came in and welded for about 30 minutes with a stick welder, meanwhile i sat in the truck eating cookies and listening to the radio, then when he was done he came and ate biscuits while I was prepping the welds.
It's still like that Peter. Big inch mainline is generally always welded with automatics now, but all of the tie-ins are still done with stick. The welders that you see in our videos do both. It's just that the automatics are more fast paced and make for more fun TH-cam viewing.
@@Mikey-ym6ok It's possible that automation will never totally replace manual welding, but to criticize someone who operates a robot welder in an industrial setting like this, is like your grandma ranting about how they don't really know how to knit down at the Chinese sweater factory.

@@_spr0cket_412 😂😂😂. You're one of us Sprocket.
The welding machine.. just like any machine makes a tried and tru weld. More consistent they any human could do in a timely manner. People are just there for quality control.
Oh wow you must really know what your talking about right?...
@@oilypatch323 lol dick
Who designs, builds, services, sets up and operates the machine, numbnuts?
Yeah buddy let the robots do all the work then cut her on see what we need actual welders for.
I feel like I see this video in my recommended every year lol.
Never fails to crack me up
Thanks Akstuff! I'm glad that TH-cam keeps nagging you to watch our videos. haha. We're glad that you like this one!
Anybody else get that full metal jacket reference at 7:20 ? Lmao
That's not just a full metal jacket reference, that's the rifleman's creed, so a reference to the entire marine corp
I love how they harass the welders helpers 😂
😂😂
i was told that the weld there yelling hurry up at, takes like 3 hours
Tuner_fan we’re in and out of that shack in less than 10 minutes. When we’re welding tie-ins with stick welding, that can take hours.
It's just that the automatics are more fast paced and make for more fun TH-cam viewing.
they seemed like some nice guys to work with
Trailer Park boys school of welding! Great Vid!!
Thanks discovery man! Check out some of our new videos!
angry welder crack me out 🤣🤣 plus the bug operator oath “this is my rifle” kind 🤣🤣
Thanks Putra! Have you checked out any of our other videos?

Glad to hear it John! I hope that you enjoy our other videos as well!
Rickety Cricket is finally getting his life together. Very nice.

"THIS IS MY BUG, THERE ARE MANY LIKE IT" 😂😂
👍🏼
Damn I love working on the pipelines!
So do we! 👍🏼
welders are just cleaning up after automatic welder system.
Not all of them lol
That's what half of this pipeline shit is. Just running the machine, but we get paid $60 an hour lol
@@djxkoxxf6898 not bad! How many our is your shift?
@@voovvvv as far as a I know they work long ass shifts like 14 hours or some shit
@@djxkoxxf6898 60 an hour? I'll take the title of a welder and get less pay. Only whores do such a thing.
"Dingleberries"
alright, how do I sign up to be a dingle berry.
Easy you don't.
What the hell? No dirty dude sitting laying in the mud burning 7018 and 6010?
The 6018 goes in first. Best penetration.
Since when do pipeliners burn a pussy ass 7018?
It is used for Cap passes. 6010 for Root pass. Welder is the machine, Weldor is the operator.
Gord Baker except 7018 isn not a pipeline rod lol
7018 Rod is used for weld-out after 6010 Root.
Those are the kindest welders ive ever seen
hahaha
Ok Fine TH-cam, you win, i’ll watch this
I hope that you liked it Ohio! Stay tuned to our channel for more videos!
This was absolutely hilarious!! Love it....
This is my bug without my bug I am nothing my bug is nothing without me this is my bug 😂😂😂😂😂
Can operate a bug but cant weld. They're truly nothing without their stupid automated welding system. Wannabe welders.
@@Mikey-ym6ok It's possible that automation will never totally replace manual welding, but to criticize someone who operates a robot welder in an industrial setting like this, is like your grandma ranting about how they don't really know how to knit down at the Chinese sweater factory.
omg
youtube: So you want to work on the pipeline?
me: yes, show me.

😂😂. Did you like it Nemo?
