Rangers need to get bigger, faster, and grittier if they want any shot at winning the cup! That was the 94 team, big and gritty!
You forget guys like Tkachuk and Rinehart are very skilled also. If it was easy to acquire guys like that everyone would do it.

Would basically have to give Ottawa a blank check if we were to request for Brady…they will want Laffy(who is French Canadian) at the minimum plus 2 first rounders or Gabe Perrault plus a first. Not happening, we should get it out of our heads.

The senators GM already said he's not trading tkachuk, and if they ever trade him, the rangers are gonna have to give up a 1st and half of their farm for a guy who has NEVER been in the playoffs before. The rangers need at least 2 forwards that have proven to be very productive in the playoffs, not going after a guy who had never played a playoff game

If he wants out, and is committed to coming here (all wishful thinking), I'd try a trade for Brady T and Chychrun for Trouba (retaining salary, this years 1st, Kakko and Othmann (No Perreault). Brady is a generational talent who would instantly help change this teams identity. Not sure how the numbers play out, but we'd likely have to trade Goodrow for picks, maybe let Lindgren walk...etc.

Great article recently. 4 of last 6 cups have been in states with no state income tax. This allows to pay players less. League needs to adjust cap for high tax states.

This Team has ZERO CHANCE of winning it all with Current Core. Move Kreider to Center- He played a lot of Center at BC- and put Othmann on the Left Side, and a Bertuzzi-type on the Right Side. Zibanejad is nothing but a Special Teams PP/PK Player- Put Sykora and Vesey/Remke with Zibanejad. Let Cuylle and Kakko develop into Solid 3rd LIners. Gotta develop a New Core. We have no chance of getting Brady Tkachuk w/o losing Future Core Players.
Rangers 94 doesn’t grow on trees. We fell short, got out grinded. We can improve and emphasize on improving on a more physical philosphy. People can change and coaching can emphasize on winning each aspect. Othman. Plays hard. If they play physical we finish every man assignment and hit the oponents on all assignments. We want to get hit and we want to hit them harder. I saw the rats hitting all our guys down in the net setup. We hit them back. I think the coaching didn’t empahsize and allow it
I would give my left nut to get a Tkachuck in Rangers blue. But to aquire Brady, Drury would have to sell half the farm and move on from Trouba and Goodrow to make the money work. I think we stand pat maybe sprinkle some low risk one year signings and see if anyone else in the pipeline has the chops to cut it at the NHL level.
We need to save every penny to resign Igor for 12 mil.
If the deal is there then do it this is how you start a overhaul but you have to find a complimentary player that fits with his style of play and again I stress you need an enforcer to protect him from the cheap shots if I remember correctly his dad was a gritty player who played for the Blues

It’s gonna cost a kings ransom to get this kid. Only way they make it work with the cap is you swap troubas contract with Brady’s, they make about the same. Then you give them 2 first round picks along with Perrault and Othman. And even then it might not be enough.

Trouba actually had a broken ankle and a bean size piece of his bone come off and it was difficult to skate. Many of you young people who have these podcast seem to think you are GMs and have all the answers to what this team needs. This is REAL LIFE and not a video game that you can control everything that happens. So wake up and get off planet Mars and come back to earth! I would love to be able to speak to the people you work for and see if you show up every day giving 100% all the time. These are humans and have problems just like we do and can never be on every game every time. This teams problems are their own fault because they gave full NMC to theses players and paid mostly bonus money which makes the contracts buy out proof!

Im sure they had some discourse about what was needed but we were tight on both cap and willingness to part with our assets. Kinda forced drury to go bargain hunting similar to the beginning of the season

The rangers played pretty boy hockey during the regular season and it worked because they had outstanding goaltending from S&Q. They thought that brand of perimeter passing hockey was going to carry then through the playoffs and they got slapped in the face by a real team that played a hard nosed, gritty, defensive game. Better luck next year, but these boys aren't playoff winners.
