      They aren't vastly superior. Panarin is the best offensive player on the ice and while he didnt score until the last game, the rest of his line was awesome. Igor is the best goalie on the ice and fox when healthy is the best defenseman on the ice... where the rangers fell short is a) they got nothing out of zibanejad. not only did they get nothing, he is usually a good 2 way player and he caused turnovers that directly led to goals. zibanejad gets eaten alive by any good center and it drags kreider, who has produced in the playoffs for 10+ years, down. b) The rangers got nothing from their defensemen. You can talk about trouba and fox playing hurt, but florida had 3 D better than the rangers best : Forsling, ekblat(spelling) and OEL. trouba was on the ice for what it seemed like every goal. and Miller turned it over a bunch of times and in game 4 in particular, it led to 2 goals.

Florida was manhandling the lineups he ran out there. Especially in the elimination game all their grit was scratched. During game 1 Rempe needed to start a fracas at the end of the game to show they wouldn’t be pushed around. When Kreider, Zibanjed and Panarin disappeared because they were avoiding contact. The youtube algorithm has brought me here and I feel this conversation depicts some interesting things that aren't discussed in other videos. In short, I'm a Ranger fan so I apologize in advance if my perspective comes off biased; even though I'm usually very critical of the Rangers to begin with.
    I do have to agree that the 2014 (or whatever) Kings vs. Rangers cup series was tremendously different than this series between Panthers/Rangers. If I'm not mistaken, I think the Kings barely made the 8th seed (w/ traditional format) and caught fire with Quickie in the net and just outplayed every team. It was a landslide of a SC series. I wasn't upset over the loss, but it was a bummer more so for Henrik than anything.
    One thing that I'm not seeing on these other "recap" videos is the fact that I think the Rangers lost their touch somewhere in that Carolina series, not exclusively when they played Florida. So much so, I was actually expecting them to lose that series entirely after Game 3. Despite that Kreider hat trick period which I'll call a fluke/miracle of a moment, Rangers beat themselves more than anything. It was as if they played shorthanded - blind passes up the boards in the defensive zone, losing 1 on 1 battles along the boards, and (most frustrating), dumping the puck in from the neutral zone and not winning those battles and just giving the opponent an easy break out, is what I've noticed consistently since halfway thru the Carolina series. I think the Rangers are a much better team than what they showed, but Florida is well polished engine designed to just conquer opponents and a deserving team for that matter.
    Conclusively, the Panthers were the better team, no doubt about it. I would have preferred to watch a Ranger team that met expectations playing-wise and be beat by a better team, than what was displayed. The scoresheet really doesn't tell the story. Also, I hate Kaako. hehe.

  • @somatiful

    One of the main reasons that Rangers did not play hard enough is conditioning.

    • @aryusure1943
      @aryusure1943 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @somatiful No! It's the lack of grit or meanness if you prefer. Kreider always puts on the breaks when he can throw big hits in the corners, Zibanedjad, forget about 'hit", Panarin hears steps when the going gets tough and turn over the puck to avoid being hit, Miller prefers using his stick than his shoulders to win puck battles despite his physique, Lindgren is a warrior but he's too small to make an impact in the corners, Fox needs to be protected because his game is not physical for obvious reasons, etc. etc.
      I could go down the list and I would find only 2 or 3 players on the Rangers roster who are build for the playoffs: Trocheck, Goodrow and I would argue that Lafrenière seems to have what it takes as well.
      I would have added Trouba in this mix but there are only so much spectacular body checks he can throw to make up for bad penalties, turn overs and bad decisions on the ice.
      Gustaffson battled hard also in the corners and he deserves more praise for his effort. He has that agressive touch needed to win puck battles but he needs support from the rest of the crew.
      That being said, what the Rangers need is not better conditioning. Nothing wrong with their physical condition. No team can spend 60% or more of the time defending and have the "conditioning" it takes to go the other way to attack.
      That's why the average shift in hockey is around 50 seconds. I don't care what shape you're in, when you are chasing the game all the time you get tired.
      No. What they need is "true grit" as a team.
      What they need, if they can get it, is a player who will make the skill players taller and stronger while being himself talented enough.
      What they need is someone like Brady Tkachuk. That type of player!
      Time for a blockbuster trade of some sort!

  • @aryusure1943
    @aryusure1943 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    I have the "solution".
    You make a blockbuster trade with Ottawa to get Brady Tkachuk. In one or two years he will take the room and be the captain of the Rangers.
    Now, all you have to do is 1) to give enough in return to convince Ottawa to make the deal and 2) convincing one or two of your stars to go to Ottawa.
    The latter part is the toughest one in my humble opinion.
    As much as it pains me to part from him (because he's very fun to watch when the going is not that tough in the regular season) I would consider trading Panarin for the pesky brother of Matthew. These guys have the playoff mindset and are a different brand of hockey players.
    Panarin is great in the regular season but despite being a superstar it's his 3rd NHL team already. Let's make it four.
    If the Bruins traded Thornton, Seguin and Kessel at some point- all superstars in their own right and 1st round draft picks- the Rangers could consider another splash like they did in 1975 when they got Esposito.
    In my humble opinion, this is the time to think outside the box.
    He won't say it in public but I guess that Brady Tkachuk would be very happy to go to a New-York team that would then become a real contender for years to come.
    What the Rangers badly need is grit to make the skill players taller when things get tough. But grit with talent.
    Think about it for a minute. With Gabe Perreault and Brendan Othman coming up and Lafrenière ready to take the next step you can spare one or two of your core players to make this happen.
    I would argue that it can be done even if Panarin does not want to go to Ottawa. The Rangers have enough pieces to offer to make this deal if they want.
    Time to think outside the box Mr Drury!

  • @larrys2969
    @larrys2969 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

    This is almost entirely on Peter Laviolette. The 1-3-1 "Lavilock" is a complete joke of a system. The HC demanded that his players fall back to the top of the circle before defending! All that did was give FL a clean breakout. Laviolette is coaching like it is 2004. The trap doesn't work in today's game, far too much speed and skill. The game has passed this guy by, he was a re-tread hire, typical of the NY Rangers. Drury's moves over the last 3 seasons have been an abject failure, he needs to go as well. This team has gotten softer after every trade deadline under Drury's stewardship. Everyone is pointing fingers at the players, and that has some validity, especially in the case of Trouba, but it all starts at the top.

Florida is a better team than the rangers, but not vastly better. Their style in particular is a very bad matchup for the rangers.

    Getting out worked doesn’t mean they wanted it more. Thats a terrible take. As a non biased fan of neither of these teams Florida was just a better and deeper team. That’s it. To say Florida wanted it more is lazy take.

    this happened with the devils back in the day when they played their n-zone trap, defense first type style. its effective, it works in the playoffs. it frustrates the hell out of teams and its gonna be very interesting to see that style clash with edmonton who plays a completely opposite game. McDavid, Hyman, Draisaitl are all going to get worn down by the panthers style. its not that that rangers didnt work hard, it looks like that because of the system florida plays. they play a heavy game, they control the neutral zone and they collapse on the puck carrier in the d-zone. the rangers lost because they were not willing to change their play style and get dirty goals. he said it right when he said they are built like a west conference team, they are. they have so much talent that they get stuck in a mind set that every goal has to be pretty and tick tack toe style. it didnt take long for florida to figure out that Trocheck was practically the only one who was willing to get his hands dirty, so they plugged that hole and the rest took care of itself. another huge mistake, in my opinion, was putting in Chytil. he hadnt played all year, there is no way he is going to be able to catch up at this point, it has nothing to do with how good he is or how in shape he is. hockey is just too fast of a game to come back after all that time at this point of the season. and wheeler.......why? ill probably catch shit for this but i honestly believe they would of had a better chance if they plugged some spots with the wolf pack players they called up. those guys would have given their heart and soul in those games to make a name for themselves. one more thing, if you're gonna play Rempe, than have him do something that to get the team going. skating around like Frankenstein for 2-3 mins per game does nothing.

    Hey you screaming smart-ie bold -ie in the glasses .You know what your rags didn’t do enough in your blind eyes ,because panthers simply didn’t let them!With their style they do this to every team ,so you can keep whining at your players as you want .Nothing will change it that Florida is much better team .Btw I predicted about 3 weeks ago Stanley cup final Panthers -Oilers ,here we go :)..who is the expert ☝🏻💋😄

    The thought of "blowing up" a team that just won the presidents trophy is absurd. They just need to be smart. They gotta figure out all the player contracts first, and then find a way to add a few more gritty, tenacious type players to the roster for a deeper Cup run.
    That's really all they lacked this playoff, when you break it down. If they weren't pushed around in the ECF, our guys wouldn't have spent so much time defending, and our top points guys and power play would've had more opportunities to make a difference.
    Keep it together, but make the necessary playoff tweaks.

    Kreider has always been in an individual player. Not a team player. I've never valued him as many others do. Mika refuses to get dirty. the mindset is wrong. Going for Kane the way they were was ridiculous. They need size - not more speed.
    Now that glen Sather has appeared to have ended his cancer spreading reign on Broadway, maybe Drury can succeed without the dark-cloud that is Glen Sather overhead. It cannot be under-stated how damaging, pathetic and myopic Glen Sather's tenure in NY has been for nearly quarter of a century.

    Finding a way to trade for Brady Tkachuk would help Immensely. Also adding Pat Maroon and/or Corey Perry as UFA's are players who have had great playoff success . Tyler Johnson , Ondrej Palat are examples. A true 1RW. It was embarrassing in an elimination Game that Our 1RW was a converted 3rd line Center who never plays right wing. Was Blake wheeler unhealthy again ? here's a Man with tremendous playoff experience & success as a captain.Does all the dirty work in the corners and down low and during the season had excellent chemistry with Zibanajad & Kreider. Why Laviolette stuck with Roslovic for so long was a Mystery . Or even throwing Chytil up there inste4ad of in the middle of 3rd Line so You have 3 balanced Lines . Trading Zibanajad or planarian will be difficult to say the least . This narrative of under performance by the skill players , in Playoffs is three years old Now.l They Must solve a Right wing for first line . I would not trade Kakko either . To Me the traceable contracts are Chytil, Tuba Kreider & Goodrow . I dont see them trading Kreider and good Luck finding a team who will take on Tr4ouba's bloated contract .
    The next captain should be Vincent Trocheck
    Perhaps the emergence of Brennan Othmann on Varsity squad next year on entry level contract can fill the void on Zibanajad line and bring energy & tenacity . I know He's ready for the next step and another former #1 Pick, whose game they compare to Matthew Tkachuk would be great and great for navigating salary cap too. I do feel within reason I would thrown the kitchen sink at Ottawa to rescue Brady Tkachuk form the Senators would be closest to a perfect fit on top six that Rangers desperately Need !!

    It is amazing to me hiw you guys even are talking about this. So little knowledge, or maybe its simply ignorance, of understanding Hockey. You wanted Drury to do more at deadline, NOT POSSIBLE. Cap space boys. This team can win. They need a right winger and a strong defenseman. Luck is such a huge part as well, and Florida had many luck bounces. The core is strong and I totally disagree with most of what you say here. What they simlly need is a change in Attitude. Brian Boyle said it best.....it is simply an Attitude that Florida has, they Rangers can, and need to, adapt to. Enough said.

    This rangers team with panarin and mika reminds me of Gardner and amonte from the 94 rangers all finesse players but Keenan knew damn well he couldn't win with those guys on his team. That's why they got rid of em and put more toughness and grit on those rangers. Same thing applies to these rangers panarin and mika these dudes are not tough enough for the playoffs and not built for the grind. Total no shows especially panarin. Hot shot during the regular season 49 goals vanishes in the playoffs barely takes any shots no confidence no tenacity same with mika I'm starting to think he's pretty soft and overrated. Rangers gotta rid of these guys amd grab someone like tchachuck or something.
