I think Drury will eff himself if he doesn't move Trouba and it backfires on him. They have a serious cap problem and moving Trouba is necessary to resolve that. Every other employee in every other company must move when the employer wants to move on. It's life and you don't stay where you're not wanted. Trouba is a prima donna if he doesn't accept that management can't afford him any more. Bet at least half the fans boo him next year in MSG if he's still on the team next season.
Drury was not able to move Trouba's contract and Rangers most likely miss out on Stamkos or Marsessault because of that..🙄

the thing with trouba was that he wasn’t willing to take accountability of his bad performance in the post season and, really throughout the whole season. if he took accountability and maybe showed he was willing to grow, i think fans and maybe even drury would feel better about trouba. instead he blamed it on a bad ankle. regardless trouba and his family don’t deserve any personal threats, but i think that anger comes from him taking 0 accountability and claming to be “shocked” about drurys attempt to move him

I think Drury effed himself with the Goodrow situation.... Agents prolly never returned his calls. Yes you can play hardball but sometimes you are going to have to step up to the plate too...
Drury will be there for a long time , he saves the Corporation lots of money.
He could be playing a long game and waiting to see how the season unfolds and make moves closer to the trade deadline…

Apparently Drury's plan was to force through a deal while Trouba's NMC was still in effect so that $$ would be avail come July 1st. What a ridiculous plan.

right now the trocheck line is line 1. i dont see why smith cant fit with mika and kreider he hs scored 27 goals before. since trouba is holding nyr hostage kakko is really the only card left for drury to play. unless drury's plan is to rely on the promotion of guys like othmann and berard.

With the rookie camp under way there are reports that our two star prospects, Gabe Perreault and Brennan Othmann are building inseparable chemistry. I’m wondering if there is a potential for Perreault to sign his ELC and fight for a spot in camp? Don’t know how that would work if he doesn’t make the team, but something to keep an eye on. Also am banking on a big move my ideal target is Trevor Zegras bring him home.
Perreault confirmed he'll be playing his sophomore year at BC this season so we'll have to wait at least another year to see him come over unfortunately. You're right about those reports though, they're absolutely clicking!
After the way Drury handled Goodrow and now Trouba why would any free agent want to come here? Better watch out because Shesterkin may leave next year
Funny, these criticisms complaining about Trouba having a bloated contract. Then the same critics bemoan Drury not signing Stamkos, even though it would have taken another bloated contract (4 yrs., $8M aav) to do it, for someone who would be 38 at the end of the deal. Fans have to take a chill pill & not panic. Sometimes, the best moves are the shortsighted ones you don’t make.
Even though Trouba needs to go, i'm glad he nixed this just before July 1st so Drury would have no $$. We dodged a bullet there as you say. Who knows what this clown might have done with another $5mil.
Happy we avoided that contract! Would've been excited to see him play for us on a possible 2 year x $5 though
@@firesiderangers Really hard to see what he's doing at this point. Drury has traded 23 picks away in 3 years with nothing to show for it except Trocheck who was a FA signing. He doesn't know how to make a lateral move, an actual Hockey trade. Lord help us

Now you have to buy Trouba out. You can't let this situation hang over our heads. We can't have a captain that the organization doesn't even want around. I like Jacob and with him the best, but I hope he chooses to let it go and allow a trade to go through.

First off, I’m hearing Trouba was willing to move on if needed but his wife works at a hospital in NY and she can’t leave until next year, so there is that issue. I’m interested to see what Drury does to handle that, there is the option of waiving him, as there was reported many teams interested in Trouba, the only way I could see a trade going through is to the Islanders, or the Devils but I don’t see the rangers wanting to do that. I don’t think it’s a lock for him to be on the team next year.

I don't really know what's going on in GM Chris Drury's Mind. I think that he wants everyone who has had A Stanley Cup Champion Ring & thinks that will make The Rangers Win A Stanley Cup? Strange Thinking. I will give him this, in not doing anything to sign players, if they don't win it all. The only thing I really feel bad about is the fact that he had Trouba's Contract throughout his tenure as GM, since even before he was GM.
I agree with Trouba being a prick and causing problems but fans calling out drury like what do you want him to do his hands are tied you can’t sign a big free agent for the term they wanted if you wanna keep Igor Laff or miller which might be an unpopular opinion I would figure out Igor’s contact this offseason and if he won’t budge trade him ASAP

Man….listening to this weeks later with the hopes of getting Tarasenko back and knowing that ABSOLUTELY NOTHING happened on our side (with Captain Tantrum not wanting to move even though he’s not wanted & STILL has not earned one 8 mil dollar pay check let alone 6 AND Drury looking completely lost w/o Sather, which is SO sad) all while the other teams in the Metro seriously amped up just makes this whole thing sting & sing PATHETIC even more.

Completely agree we need all the cap we can get! Some of the players we wanted definitely got wayyyy more than we could afford, but some were doable as well!
Why Reilly Smith? He has a higher opinion of himself than what most do. Possibly a good 3rd liner, not the guy with Zib and Kreider.

Drury himself was a terrible contract for the rangers...Must suck being on the other side of it now.

Give up on Tarasenko. He isn't a playoff player. Reilly Smith is over 31 and overpaid (even with 25% absorbed by the Pens) and the Rangers could use that money for Lindgren and Schneider. RFA's. And if they still look to give him a chance Matt Robertson is an RFA too. Rangers should just be looking for a gritty 3rd line center. Kreider and Zibanejad need to man up and stop ignoring whatever rightwinger that is put with them. Freakin Divas. And they aint gonna replace Trouba due to the stupid contract he was given.

Why aren't the Rangers using the players in Hartford, if there not NHL Ready then what the hell are they not trying them out in the Pre season, the Rangers are not even trying to see what they have in the minors its ridiculous bring some of these kids up and see what they can do instead of spending money they don't have, we'll see what happens in September. Always been that way. NY management believes the fans don't have the patience for that. It generates more buzz to sign a veteran or make a trade just for the sake of it.

These guys a nothing but a bunch of spoiled millionaires who think they are suppose to get their way all the time. What happens when they don't live up to their contracts? Very little. Trouba is a prime example, here's a guy who's making 8mil and suck so we try to trade him and people are saying how Drury is wrong and he's a dirt bag. Drury is doing THE RIGHT THING for a change. Some of these guys under performed and he needs to send a message to the whole team it's not acceptable. Why are so many of you wanting them to sign guys in their 30s, over pay, or give too much term? You are so use to this for the 20 years Sather was he that you think we should always do it.

Everybody now all of a sudden dumping on Trouba, is like everyone now all of a sudden dumping on Biden. The obvious has been there from day one. But too many people parrot off of the other guy who they think knows something. He's been an out of this world overpriced liability since day one, But everyone called him a "Beast" and "the Trouba Train". And now you all want to get rid of him ferociously. I understand how you feel but I wouldn't necessarily say garbage the last 2 years, he had a rough season this year but was solid in 2022-2023! (Minus the playoffs of course, which may matter the most)
