  • Starting your charcoal drawing with an expressive and abstract underpainting using acrylic paint will create a very dynamic mixed media drawing. Today I am using a stretched canvas for this demonstration. Building the layers of paint prior to drawing your subject adds a loose and solid base to create from. Sealing the acrylic is an important step to provide your charcoal the base to easily adhere to. This is part one of a two part video series.
