  • Self-awareness is power and freedom. For self-awareness has always been the key to a life defined by clarity, intent, and cohesion.
There is a path that one needs to follow in order to properly grasp what self-awareness really is and this path I endeavor to lay out today.
    Chapters:
    Prologue - 00:00
    Stage 1 - 02:32
    Stage 2 - 06:15
    Stage 3 - 10:30
    Stage 4 - 14:41

Wow the frontal cortex is crucial. ur only learning to be an adult foreal after 25, then it takes time to develop a steady one while at the same time cleaning out the bad habits as well. This hit me hard cuz it explains alot being 30 right now.

    • @dlloydy5356

Add on top how fragile and easily damaged the brain, including the frontal cortex, is. I know many people who’ve experienced traumatic brain injury & had their world and self completely transformed in an instant. Some regain function of varying degrees some do not. Frightening how so many people never know themselves then suffer TBI and if they are fortunate find themes right back at the beginning again.....where they can start a quest to gain self awareness or carry on the same....most often all of this is happening subconsciously....freaky subject

I can definitely relate to these stages. I have been feeling nihilistic lately (the belief that life is meaningless) and am glad you reminded me of just choosing to accept and do what you can for things within your control.(the serenity prayer) as Jordan Peterson would say is for sure "don't make things worse" which you can fall prey to if you get too nihilistic. always strive to make yourself better

Try reading on Death and Dying by Ernest Becker. I think the hypothesis that we’ve been distracting ourselves since we have become aware we needed to start distracting ourselves was huge for me. The key is avoidance of despair and hopelessness and distractions today like consumerism, capitalism, feminism, socialism, communism, and even the issue today on gender allow people to distract themselves. I think this is why there is so much emotion on all sides of issues today also because we tie our value to these ever evolving things instead of a god and religion that stays relatively static over time. Once our emotions are toyed with our decisions and thought processes as humans become less linear and more erratic.

feelings of meaninglessness can on one hand cause depression, or on the other hand be a result of already existing depression.
last year i experienced a massive anxiety attack and mild depression because i was so fixiatet on meaning of life. it was only when i understood whats really going on - which was besically mental stress and exhaustion that caused feelings of meaninglessness - that i truly managed to fix that. i tried to fix emotions with cognitive thinking. only when i gave my nervous system the time calm down and recover, the sense of meaning came back. when your internal state is right, even laying in the grass starring at the clouds can be meaningful.

I feel human language is still so primitive to use for true communication. I've had brain damage and surgery in my front lobe and over time do to that and how I was raised, I had 'known' things but never found the words. I describe to others that my brain is like a computer, it processes things to fast to even have the time to explain to modern man communication. Thank you again ❤️

Absolutely right, I've gone through these stages in multiple areas, the one that made me mad was human perception. Your right about the two groups as well, at first i was in despair and complained any time i could. I realized how un healthy i was getting and knew i needed change. That came with looking at the positives, there are many positives i never seen before. I am much more contempt and every time i learn something i realize how much i don't know. I do believe some things humans will never understand.

Understanding when to analyze and how to filter information is one of the most useful tools we have as humans to be able to work with input data, get value from it and not get overwhelmed.
Note: I felt that maybe I have helped bring "Anti-fragility" to this video by a past comment. Maybe that's not the case and surely credit is something I usually don't chase. Are us humans doomed to be stuck in these 5 stages? along with a life full of distraction, I've been in the constant overanalytical mode for a while now and I've tried focusing on life and what is going on in my life outside of my mental chatter, but when I tried to focus on my life, the feelings and thoughts might've mitigated but they weren't gone. So I fell back down to "madness". My "madness" is that of anxiety.
This all brings me a sense of dread and anxiety. I want a way out, but I don't want to be suicidal as that truly affirms that I'm mad. I want to believe we can live life well without so much trouble. I want to go back to being able to watch silly TH-cam videos, chat with friends, and have a passion without thinking of it as all an distraction, meaningless, or anything else beyond what it is.
This video is great btw, I haven't found a video on TH-cam that articulates the "stages" of self-awareness so well. Keep uploading! 😊

@Charger Dave Great commend, much appreciated.
It's a deep and wide matter to go into, but I try to be firm and short to give you my perspective on your thoughts.
Well, awareness/consciousness is knowing and yes, man is thinking, which would be in line to his awareness of reality, which is the base for the perspective one holds.
There is the notion of self awareness and then we have the nature of awareness/consciousness itself. Though the physical self is only a construct of matter and thinking a process of mental nature, the self is only a receiver and sender of electro magnetic signals. We identify with the signal and think it's I, me, mine.
Knowing this does not make one automatically to a nihilist and turn existence into into an meaningless endeavour.
Being aware and self aware is different to the nature of awareness/God. God is not blind in a sense by not seeing, but blind in the sense of no interference with what is.
There are fully enlighten men and women who have realized that nature, but still do meaningful things in life if they want too.
Going off into different states of mind and realms of existens, like on DMT is quite meaningless if the experience doesn't have positive and transcending qualities to it, which can be applied to this realm of existens. Purposeless dwelling in blissed out spaces is meaningless, since one is still captured in ones mind. The real desolving into the nature of awareness/consciousness/God, can only happened at the moment of death.
People who do psychedelics and hallucinogenics can get glimpses to higher states of awareness, but are often not applyable to real life. If used correctly, this kind of plants can help solve personal problems, help Groth and understanding, but one should be careful to spread their euphoric ideas to the masses and try to force everyone else living accordingly.
Reason and logic are mental attributes to the thinking process and part of mental nature. If the nature of awareness/God knows already everything there is to know, there wouldn't be the need anymore to think logical or any other way.

Please, here is a lost soul yearning for some advice. I currently have a year left in college and I am entering the stage of awareness. I've carried an over-analytical mode of thinking for some time and all the advice I get is to stop thinking and continue going through the motions of life. I am having a hard time finding meaning and motivation after realizing that who I am and where I am are both an illusion, and I have been measuring my worth and purpose based on the value I have in society. I can no longer unsee this so it's hard to continue playing my part since the world I knew is no longer there and I don't know who I am. If I don't know anything, how do i know which way to go or what to do with my life. I would appreciate any recommendations of books that have helped people in this journey or any form of advice,
