"Becoming a subjective part of the consequences of a local event" to me means changing your vibration to align with what you want. If you want more peace, be peaceful. If you want to find love, do something you love. It has been a tough and lonely winter so far and I have lately been losing myself in the sadness, thank you for this reminder and motivation to refocus :)

I love this! In a world where most people seem superficial, totally lost if you try to communicate anything with depth, they turn a deaf ear, closed minded at best. Too sad. Thank you for sharing. Embracing slowness, though foreign in this fast-paced world, is totally necessary. Technology has robbed us from living a slower life. It would be healthier to break away occasionally. What do I think Alain Badiou meant by "Becoming a subjective part of the consequences of a local event?" Subjective speaks to influence and consequences speak to results, hence, my take is to live in the moment. Events are typically an interruption to our daily norms, yes? So, yeah, his thought-provoking statement, put simply, means to live in the moment. Be present and embrace the moment to experience it from all angles at all levels: emotionally, spiritually, physically, and psychologically.
By subjective, I think he meant active and personal. Local event is something that we choose in our live that is personal and meaningful to us (he gets way more philosophical in his books). If you watch the whole speech, from the link in the description, his final conclusion is that when we partake in endeavors that are meaningful and we fully immerse ourselves in them, that can change the world.
