I was able to score a real cherry factory left hand side battery tray from a guy out in Washington. I also bought gauges from him and a few other parts.
Hello, I'm currently swapping an 84 k10 with a 5.3 and I need help wiring the battery to the red positive box and starter. Do I need to run a battery cable from the battery to that pos stud and then run a cable to my starter from the red box? Thanks for the help
Hello I enjoyed watching some of your videos, maybe my question is a year late, but you may answer it. Im having LS 5.3 engine (from a 2008 Yukon) installed on my 1986 GMC Sierra, I’ll install automatic transmission, but I’m not sure what type of tranx that fits the LS and my truck? I may need your help with wiring diagram. Thanks
Zachary Kuzma well for me no because the speed meter is ran by a cable and my trans is the 4L60e trans so it runs from a wire signal, the oil and temp will need new sensors and plugs as well.
So would it be easier to just get new gauges or what? Im planning on doing a 5.3 swap into my 85 c10 and just trying to gather all the info i can right now lol
Zachary Kuzma yes. I will be getting digital gauges. They have some on eBay for $180 to $300 for the less expensive ones but Dakota Digital makes some for $700. The sets that are cheaper come with the new sensors needed
What about the sensor adapters for the factory gauges? Bc the spedo im not worried about cause im gonna run an older 4speed just mainly temp and oil gauges cause i dont really care for the digital gauges lol
Lonnie, I got question about the fuel wiring. I'm doing a 5.3 swap on a 84 c10 for a friend. So now I'm at fuel part on the swap. I'm using the FG05M sending for a 87 c10 pickup. The 2 color wires from the 84 is purple and a red wire. Do you recall which is which from your swap?
No. But I do find that having some back pressure help the motor run better. These ls motors love a lil back pressure. I ran the flow masters and it seems to like it.
great vids man, maybe you can help me out , all my gauges went out on me its a 1982 chevy c10 auto ,what i would like to do is override the electric printout panel in back of cluster and install individual electric gauges, i copied the info you put out on video about the plug in back of panel , how can i trace gas gauge, wireing ,oil gauge wirinb, water temp. wiring and where do the sending units go on motor, appreciate any help on this my first resto sorta, im 67 still like my old chevys, thanx for reading
Martin Rivera u can just tie into the plug wires that would have plugged into the stock cluster. You will have to look on your motor for the oil and water sensors
if it was me id install a 90 elbow on that cold air an more tubing so the filter be closer to the core support just and idea for ya but it's came a long way
Thanks for the battery tray idea as well. I'm adding it to my list.
Try a heat gun on that plastic. Used to do that to my avalanche and it made the plastic look new. Also cheaper than constantly applying a product

I got one for the 84 K10 I’m currently building
thanks for all of these videos. all kinds of knowledge. i'm currently looking for a c10 to tinker with and always like the ls swaps.
try the chevy caviler seats. i installed them in my 89 f150. they fit great. the head rest are removable and then they look like old school buckets.

2007-2013 trans believe are the same from yukon tahoe suburban and silverados
can't wait to see it run.
I have been putting it around town a lil but i can tell it needs new O2s and it really needs the new tune on it badly
I sec. that citrus lol .. hell when I do my ls1 harness and ecu on my old ford motor I'll have it running on the test stand .lol
I had this one running on the test stand. It's in one of these videos
so there was one I missed . MMMM I'll look again lol
Have you got a video on the suburban gauge cluster install? Were u going form lights to gauges?
Yes there are videos here on my channel
@@LonniesGarage must have over looked it. Thank you.
so running the wires from the bulk head will it run the factory gauges in the truck?
Zachary Kuzma well for me no because the speed meter is ran by a cable and my trans is the 4L60e trans so it runs from a wire signal, the oil and temp will need new sensors and plugs as well.
Zachary Kuzma wiring it to the bulkhead will alow you to start it by key and have power to all the dash and such in the truck
So would it be easier to just get new gauges or what? Im planning on doing a 5.3 swap into my 85 c10 and just trying to gather all the info i can right now lol

Love the videos I have an 84 swb sierra and want to do the same thing. this helps a lot thanks and I'll stay tuned in.
Thank You
truck is looking nice man
What Rad and upper rad hose did you use? Im doing the same swap on my 1977 C20 and am having problems finding a upper hose to fit the original rad
Carl Smith I used stock upper hose for the LS. The rad is a "Spectra Premium CU730"
are you us8ng the cluster or after market gauges
Danny Austin gonna be using after market
Thanks Lonnie
I'm wanting to do a LT1 swap from a 94 caprice into my 1980 c10. what cluster would work for that swap
Badd Hamilton I like the digital gauge clusters. That's what I'm going to go with in this truck.
PuppetKicker so you recommend going aftermarket digital
Badd Hamilton yes. It's all in your preferences
PuppetKicker are they reasonably priced
Badd Hamilton U can get one with all the sensors for around 300 on ebay
What radiator did you use for your swap?
is there any info out there that show all the ground points?
Maurice Dantzler u can get the wiring diagram and it will show u the ground points.

Hey ? When deleting the rear o2 sensors and running only. Fronts will running no cats effect anything
No. But I do find that having some back pressure help the motor run better. These ls motors love a lil back pressure. I ran the flow masters and it seems to like it.
