Did this a couple of days ago to my g20 van. Just fitted a 4l80e behind a 454. Came to you tube just seeing how others have done it. I did good lol. Perfect Works a treat. Cheers!!
I bought a lokar and it's crazy tight, like in a bind..can't get to prvd but they're all very very close. I'll have to take a closer look at the stock one.
J. Duncan Sr yeah I tried to pass on all the information I either learn or figure out my own. I think a dollar saved here is a dollar that could go somewhere else in the project. thanks for watching videos. If they have helped you in any way please don't forget to give it a thumbs up subscribe and share the video.
Question: I want to do the same to mu 4L80e, but I think my shaft is splined. Is yours splined? How did you get the "U" bracket on the shift rod? Thanks
@@LonniesGarage FYI: My truck currently has a locker column shifter, and the splines that I saw is actually a splined collar supplied by Lokar. So there are flats on the 4L80e, just like the 4L60e. Looks like I'm in good shape. Thanks!
do you know where i would get be able to get another bracket that mounts to the frame? mine is really bent out of shape and the linkage pushes it around
Lonnie's Garage (Puppetkicker) check out the Lokar ACA-1800. Lot of people seem to use this with good luck. I havent got to rigging it up yet but I just got the motor running last night so that’s my next step.
I’m trying go back to the stock column shift like you’ve done. I’m hooking up to a 4L80e, and the bell crank (That goes from the frame rail bracket) is too long. Is the 4L80e physically larger? Did you have to shorten yours? Thanks
Did you use the original wire harness that the LS engine came with or did you buy and if you use the one that the motor came with what did you have to change to make it work
Did you end up using that NSS on the side of the trans? I looked all over and can't find a definitive answer. My truck has a built-in NSS in the column. Thanks for the great content!
@@LonniesGarage ok great! I keep seeing, keep the NSS and then I see, get rid of it! Lt1swap.com has those wires in a tan color and specifys leaving them installed in the step by step. Anyways i really appreciate all ur videos, they have been a lifesaver!!
You don't know if this will work for 5.3/4l60e running tejas steelworks motor mounts and speed engineering longtube headers do you? 83 c15 originally equipped with Th350.
Did you use the new gen transmission? How goes the factory c10 drift shaft match up to it? I’m debating weather or not the c10 shaft will bolt right up or if I should try to cut n balance and use the 2003 shaft from a Tahoe and see if it bolts to my c10 rear axle
Lonnie's Garage (Puppetkicker) that’s what I figured. They look way too skinny. Did it bolt right up to the old rear end? Or did you need a new yoke installed?
Hey puppetkicker. I am currently doing an ls swap in my 1985 c10. I was wondering what fuel pump you used. An aeromotive stealth? Or did you use the stock fuel pump? I assume you used a 1987 tank as well, correct? Thanks.

Thanks for sharing. Did the same thing to my 73 C10 with 700R4 transmission.
wont be needing the lokar shift kit now good info

Thanks for the vid man helped me out big time
that is awesome...great job!!
Maurice Dantzler thank you
What motor mounts did you use? The position of the motor will also effect how the linkage is connected too.
Tejas Steel Works
Thank you for the help
Not a problem. Thank you for watching.

Mine wasn't Splined

Thank you Lonnie.

Maybe eBay.
Would have worked for me but my longtubes are in the way dang it. Plan B is using the lokar shift rod kit
I'm building an 84 K10 with long tube headers now. I hope I don't run into problems with this.

How to switch the shifting handle to the left side
Great video bro. Do you think you can help me out with some wiring problem?
What u got
@@LonniesGarage i have an 86 C10 with a big cluster F on the wiring. So dont know what wire goes to what. My first time working with any wiring.

Yes the 4l80e is a lot bigger than a 4l60 or 700r4. I'm running a 4l60e in this truck
Hey brother how do i know my trans is on the Park” position before putting linkage
Thanks for the info
Did you use the original wire harness that the LS engine came with or did you buy and if you use the one that the motor came with what did you have to change to make it work
Stock harness. I've got how to videos that show everything
thank you
How did you drill the front hole? I dont sew how there is any room for a drill.
Right angle drill, and cut you bit in half.
Good info Thanks
Chris S Custom your welcome. Thanks for watching.
No problem
ok.. quick question for the future.. would you ever think of putting a hurst style shifter setup in the truck?
Mudd Boss nope.
Did you end up using that NSS on the side of the trans? I looked all over and can't find a definitive answer. My truck has a built-in NSS in the column. Thanks for the great content!
Yes and no. I didn't have to have it hooked up but it is still on there.

I sure don't. I'm sorry.
Sorry bud
You used the rod arm off a 700r4?
Not the link that bolts to the trans shifter?
Ramon Mier I used both
My truck has a th350 I want to swap to the 4l60E. Do I have to replace all the parts to 700r4 to do this or are they the same?
Bill Ramseytà I think they are different
what headers? or manifolds are those??
I also want to keep my 4l60e with my 5.3 do you have wiring or pinning info for the stand alone?
Oj Hernandez have a whole series in how to wire it. Check out my TH-cam channel
Did you use the new gen transmission?
How goes the factory c10 drift shaft match up to it?
I’m debating weather or not the c10 shaft will bolt right up or if I should try to cut n balance and use the 2003 shaft from a Tahoe and see if it bolts to my c10 rear axle
I used a 1990 burban drive shaft. I had it cut down and balanced.
The stock shaft isn't ment for this kind of power and toqure
Lonnie's Garage (Puppetkicker) that’s what I figured. They look way too skinny. Did it bolt right up to the old rear end? Or did you need a new yoke installed?
Great video. How did u hook up your speedometer?
Jon.b I've got a 4l60e trans
Will it work for a 4l80e transmission a d the link8off a 350 turbo?
It should depending on what mounts you used
Hey puppetkicker. I am currently doing an ls swap in my 1985 c10. I was wondering what fuel pump you used. An aeromotive stealth? Or did you use the stock fuel pump? I assume you used a 1987 tank as well, correct? Thanks.
Josh J yes I used an 87 r10 fuel tank and sending unit with a walbro 255 intank fuel pump.
Will this be the same if I have a 4l80e and my truck had a th350?
Alex Morales I don't think so. The 4L80E is a lot bigger so it won't be in the same location
Will this work on a 92 obs with a 700 to a 4l80?
You ever figure it out having same issue
what drive shaft did you use
Danny Austin I used one from a 90s model suburban and had it shortened and balanced
thank you
