I can guarantee a lot of people’s dry vocals do not sound as punchy as yours. So if you could, would you explain your setup? As in do you use a specific mic pre-amp? What mic? Etc... thanks
Absolutely! As you mentioned, what you're getting from the source plays a huge role in the sound of the final product. If I remember right, this specific vocal was tracked on a Neumann TLM 103 > Bae 1073 Preamp > TubeTech CL1B Compressor 👍🏼

Just wanna point out this vocal chain won’t work for everyone. Future has a very distinct unique voice and I doubt many people have his voice or similar. Also not to mention everyone uses different mics and equipment going into the box. Future always records through a U87>Neve 1073>CL-1B. That’s a very expensive chain of equipment and I doubt many people have access to that specific chain unless you go to an expensive studio. That’s giving him an extremely quality sounding recording before even hitting any plugins. Although one could argue you could get pretty close with the UAD emulations of those things and a mic line the TLM 102 or 103

Globin ummm id say a C800G and U87 going through a Neve 1073 blows a 100 dollar mic and pre out of the water. If you’ve used them in a professional studio with good sound treatment you’d know. It’s honestly not even close.
Kriss Smith no he definitely uses a u87 like Seth firkins (RIP) said in the interview that the guy in this video is talking about U87 -> neve 1073 -> CL-1B. He says they would call a studio and if they didn’t have those specific things they wouldn’t even go to that studio
With this template specifically, I made an identical copy of Seth's ITB chain mentioned in his SOS article (so not 100% sure his reasoning behind it). If I had to guess, the ModDelay is used as a stereo plugin, which helps create some space for the delay. That way your delays aren't dull and only happening in mono!
1:58 The midrange gets boosted so the autotune reacts to the vocals? Could you please explain that? My vocals kinda lack the cool effect of autotune and I’m thinking it might be the mid range lacking? How would you fix that problem? ps: bought all your stuff it’s fye dude 🔥
Bus vocals must be stereo or mono? Because all takes are in mono, so those must be routed in a mono bus? Effects time based are on a return bus, so theres no point to put vocal bus in stereo isnt it? Im prrtry confused thanksss
lots of studios, even professional ones depends on the owner, usually have cracked waves and autotune because alot of their clients use them and antares stopped making the original efx
@@zesh47 thanks..Iv tried some of the cracks but the keygens are hard to get for this one in particular and I ended up with a trail and then it stops working completely and even if u Uninstall it,it never works ever again coz it kinda keep the I.P of your computer.
I like to stereoize my adlibs a lil bit so its seperated from the lead vocals. I also roll off more low end and boost the highs less so it sounds like the adlibs are more in the back. I also like to give my adlibs a decent amount of reverb for the effect. Sometimes I also compress it a little bit more to put it in a certain space and get a solid loudness level without making the lead vocals inaudible
This was a preference of Seth Firkins specifically. We typically don't use delays like this, but the AutoTune 100% works better on the actual audio track. If you put it on the vocal bus, the AutoTune would be attempting to tune multiple vocals at the same time, which can be problematic. Hope this helps!

Koda Keller that’s equipment doesn’t matter. A recording that isn’t clipping and gain staging will make that 100$ mic and pre sound like 10,000$

This vocal chain wont matter because A) every mic has a different profile so the EQ will affect it differently. 2) you're not future 🤦♂️
