Just from the footage of the river, kinda guessed you were near Shasta. That area can get super hot in the summer, nice to have the river there to cool off in.
Thanks for sharing. I like the simplicity in making a short day trip, showing that you don't have to make a full week thru hike all the time (or ever). I have often just walked a mile from the car to some shelter just to get the feeling of sleeping in the wild. When you removed the rain fly on your tent I reflected on if I would do that. Probably not. I feel like I'm being observed when sleeping. On the other hand I do love sleeping in these wooden shelters with one entire side open that are available in different places where I live. What's the logic? Thanks again and hope to see more vids in the future.
I'm glad I found your channel here. I'm always amazed at how beautiful nature is where you are. I also like the way you make the videos. I'd love to see more of that.
Wonderful walk in the woods and It looked like the perfect camping adventure. , enjoyed watching here.Thank you for showing us this beautiful place😉💚💚💚
That’s so cool the deer let you get that close. Leaving the fly off my Nemo is just wonderful on a clear night. I solo backpack a lot, too. Hoping most of the snow melts in desolation next week. May I ask what trailhead this is? Thanks!
Dang, that bear did a number on your car! While we're sharing bear stories: my family has a small cabin in the Adirondacks, where the black bears are notoriously bold, especially during springtime. My dad, sister, and I were sleeping out behind the cabin in the lean-to, and my mom was asleep in the cabin. I woke up to grunting and heavy breathing and saw a hulking shape lumber past the front of the lean-to in the direction of the cabin. After my heart stopped pounding I was able to fall back asleep, but shortly after I woke up to distant shouting. My dad also woke up and grumbled something like "Who the hell is yelling at their dog at this hour?" It was only in the morning, after joining my mom in the cabin, that we learned that the bear had punched out the window screen in the kitchen and climbed halfway through the window to grab some hot dog buns on the table. The person shouting at their dog? That was my mom screaming at the bear to get out. We now close the windows at night.
Not as scary as a bear story, more of a commentary about a man not listening to his wife story. Anyway, back during the 70’s and 80’s, during September school holidays where I live in Australia, as my father was a teacher, we could have family holidays together during term breaks. We’d drive about nine hours sort of north west from the city where we lived. The destination was a cousin’s cattle station (ranch) and we would sleep in the shearer’s quarters. We’d be there during spring and the quarters were busy during summer and then during the rest of the year the buildings were more or less human free. My father had been helping the cousins with some farm work and had triggered his back injury, three crashes in aircraft during WWII left him with injuries. So, his back pain was pretty bad and we were at least 100 km from any medical help. The nights were cool and the full moon was out with a cloudless sky. The quarters were two single beds per room. They’d be stinking hot during the summer months but the shearers would be exhausted, I suppose 😂 One night, my mother sort of flopped her arm out of her blankets felt her hand land on something hairy. She screamed and exclaimed to dad that something was in the room. His immortal words to my were “Oh Joanie, you’re always imagining things”. He was flat on his back with his sciatica or similar disabling him. Next morning during breakfast the incident was recounted. As we were the only ones there, we traipsed around to the sleeping rooms and checked the sand in front of the rooms. Sure enough, right in front of mum’s room were paw prints. We supposed that they were either fox or wild dogs. We closed the bedroom doors after that. The bottom fell out of the wool market around that time and the property changed over to poll Hereford cattle. The property was a fair size, 45,000 hectares or about 110,000 acres. 40 km or 25 miles from the homestead to the furthest boundary. We visited there on multiple occasions and I had several summers there helping out during the hay carting season. Darned hot during summer around 40-45° Celsius or 100-110° Fahrenheit. Very low humidity so it was tolerable. The overnight temperatures were hot but at dawn a chill would hit and for a short time I would pull up the blankets but then have to throw them off once the sun rose.
McCloud falls. Noice! I live up here in Weed. Kudos to you for getting in the water. We will jump off the lowers falls, but the water is too cold this time of year. Lol
Ha, Shin ramen brings back memories. I used to pack one or two per trip, and it’s so nice as a hot meal. Don’t do it as much anymore due to my older age and having to watch sodium intake 😂
First off "A Big Thank You to the Sponsors" ❤ Great video as always, Cheebs, so informative! I love all these backpacking videoes! 💜 You're the coolest and you're doing your best!! 💛
Love your vibe and your videos...worth the wait! (just had that exact ramen for lunch today, so I can only imagine it hitting the spot out in the wild!)
Love the quick overnighters. Those can be the best just to get out. Liking that yellow/blue fleece top you're wearing. Is that a Melanzana fleece? They're so hard to get because you can't order online.
That was great! I am a person who will point out water bodies like "look... water :)" so would probably be annoying here lmao but I loved it. And the animal buddies at the end? so nice
I am a hypothetical bear that is wandering about in places you might hike. What are some obvious signs or bits of evidence I would leave on a trail that would immediately tell you I was there? Awesome video btw, waterfalls and river after the snow has left are my fave. Shoutout to that lil insect guy 14:11
Hopefully you see this message but I have been searching for a sturdy pair of shoe holders to clip on to my bag, which brand is that if you dont mind me asking?
You're correct!! It was not properly on but I tightened it before I stashed it. I need to get better at vlogging basically everything I do, but it's so hard to remember in the moment lol. We'll get there eventually!
what the hell osprey and gregory that the backpacks have that curvature in the bottom and sleeping bags just don't fit. i think i'm gonna start to put my sleeping bag outside the backpack
Hello, Spider here. I heard some buzzing and a wish to make it go. Offering my services to weave a web. Protection for you, food for me - sounds like a win-win. No? Shame. :D
why do people THINK boots have something ro do w eak ankles or so,e part of the foot or leg ?????? its nada !!! z u ar a pack w hip belts doesm't mean i see you as having a weak set of shoulders. no the hip belt has a real function !!!!!!!! it is better to be quiet and let people assume you know somethingv than openit and prove you dont !!!!
Hey, all!! Thanks for being patient while waiting for a new video! Life has been busy, but we're back to exploring outside! Yay!
Easily one of the most authentic personalities on TH-cam. Really appreciate the honesty and thoughtfulness of your videos Cheebs.
Hey, thanks!!
Stunning. The view the waterfall
There's a deer! "stares" ... "stares back" ... Such a pleasant looking area, with swimming spots too! Thanks for sharing your adventures Cheebs!
Maybe the real backpacking was the deer friends we made along the way! Absolutely loved this! Thanks for sharing!!
Just from the footage of the river, kinda guessed you were near Shasta. That area can get super hot in the summer, nice to have the river there to cool off in.
That was it a nice day to go camping and hike too
not me freaking out that your bear vault isn't screwed on straight 😅
So beautiful! Scenery is great to! 😊❤

Sometimes the little adventures are as great as high mileage , epic ones.
Couldn't agree more!

I love your videos! Hi from Italy :)

Oh wow I would have had coffee in the woods. There's nothing better than that😅
Normally I would, but dang an eggs benedict at the diner just sounded way too good at the time lol.
You are awesome. That is all.
Awesome video! Where is this trail located? (I assume by Mt.Shasta). I'd love to check it in person.
Please keep making these! :)
Great to see you again. Hello from a wet UK ❤
Thanks for coming back! :D
You should do more content. It'd be really popular. You have a great way with the camera.
What fleece are you wearing? It looks so cute and cozy!
It's from a store in Leadville, CO called Melanzana! You have to go to the physical location to buy it, unfortunately.
Hopefully you see this message but I have been searching for a sturdy pair of shoe holders to clip on to my bag, which brand is that if you dont mind me asking?
Ramen. Called it. My favorite kind too.
Saaaaame!
What trail is this, its so beautiful
Love you
Isn’t the lid not on properly/securely when you’re talking about where to put it? I’ve never used one before but it looks crooked
You're correct!! It was not properly on but I tightened it before I stashed it. I need to get better at vlogging basically everything I do, but it's so hard to remember in the moment lol. We'll get there eventually!
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤CCHHEEBBSS❤❤
I noticed you camp in Northern cali, what precautions do you take for bear country?
Edit: sorry i ended up finally being able to watch the whole video and saw you touched on this.
What trail is this? I don't live far from Shasta, id love to check it out.
I asked her the same question but she doesn't respond, sadly.
I'm in Nor Cal, what trail is this?
Blimey! Thought you'd got stuck somewhere between a rock and a hard place! I think you'll find everybody has missed you.
You always should have ankle support walking over rocks and especially since u have a big pack on much love from Arizona love your content
Where is this trail?
Cheebs rules
Cheebs has ankles of steel, no boots necessary.
Cheebs, don't forget to wear big bear spray or pistol!✊💪
what the hell osprey and gregory that the backpacks have that curvature in the bottom and sleeping bags just don't fit. i think i'm gonna start to put my sleeping bag outside the backpack
after seeing your car door there is no way i am camping in your country ever !
Hi, Cheebs. New sub here. Would love to know the campsite if possible. I'm up here in NorCal myself and always looking for a new campsite!
If you think those bugs are bad, come to Louisiana. Our unofficial state bird is a mosquito.
Thanks for the videos.
