I usually don’t comment on videos but I just wanted to tell you guys something. This past semester in college was really rough for me because of personal family issues going on. But I wanted to let you and your team know that the videos you created helped me get through it so much. There were many nights I stayed up watching your videos to manage my anxiety and fall asleep to. Thank you for creating wonderful content. You really inspired me to try camping and backpacking this summer now the semesters over. I hope you guys enjoy making content as much as I enjoy and love watching it. ❤️
Thank you SO MUCH for sharing this! I'm sorry you had a hard semester 💚 happy that we could be a small part of helping you get through a rough time. From one person with anxiety to another, I hope you get a chance to go camping and backpacking - and hopefully your semesters just keep getting better. Loads of love to you.
Girl, if I saw you on trail I would lose my mind. You are the coolest, most positive, good-energy, kind person ever. Keep doing what you're doing. And love that you and Rainer have such a special relationship! What a blessing to have a friend like that.
Why on god's green earth would anyone send you a negative comment. You're about as nutty as they come but that is what makes your films so much more enjoyable. I think you're great. Keep up the good work. UK
Enjoyed this video, and glad to be part of your community. I shop at the Columbia, SC REI location. I ordered a Sea to Summit collapsible kettle after watching you use it in one of your videos. When I mentioned to the customer service rep that it was the first time I had ever purchased an item after seeing an influencer use it, she said "she's not an influencer. She's an educator." I've taken that to heart ever since.
9:48 Miranda: I wouldn’t trade Rainer for the world Rainer: Someone says here’s the world, give me Rainer. And you’re saying no to that deal. Miranda: Oh. No, I’d take the world 😂😂 Love you both
We all still think you guys should be together (you're made for each other!) and make tiny little Miranda/Rainer babies. They'd be absolutely freaking adorable and hilarious.
The little clip of the em-blinged Rainer with a fistful of cash, alongside the trail description graphic . . . man, that was VERY nearly a coffee-spew-to-screen incident! :D Love you guys (and Abby!), I've been following along since the early REI days.
The first time I went backpacking, my friend brought a proper low tech espresso maker and we had excellent lattes. I told him he ruined every other mountain morning thereafter, but luckily everything tastes delicious in that good air. I still bring powdered espresso but tbh it’s mostly cabin camping these days, but we do the minimal forest service cabins. Excellent compromise when the lower back starts screaming if it even sees a tent…
Could you talk more about how you manage chronic pain and migraine while being so active? It’s so inspiring and motivating to see you so active! I recently went chronic and would love to hear about how you anticipate migraines, avoid triggers when possible, and cope with attacks on trail. Ty for your awesome videos ❤
Hi Miranda! I too am interested in your tools and methods for managing migraine on the trail, as I get them as well. thanks for the videos, you're really inspiring!!
I love these videos too and have been a chronic headache sufferer for decades. After hurting my back, I went to a chiropractor for the first time in over 3 decades and found out I have abnormal neck bones and an extra backbone. I've been going now for a couple months and my headaches have decreased dramatically and I can run and hike a lot easier. I hope you all can find relief to do what you love without pain. Hike on!
Miranda! I finally went on my first backpacking trip last weekend. In the last 3 weeks I watched almost every video on your channel to help me prepare. I am so thankful for your content and found it really helpful for a successful trip! Thank you!
I’m going on my first backpacking trip in a little over a week! I’m so excited & nervous but I’m learning so much from Miranda 😄 I’m so glad her content exists!
Great video, Miranda. Your are so naturaly, funny and honestly and your chanel is tolerant in all directions. Ultralight, heavy weight, MYOG....I think, that is the reason, why you are getting not many mean comments. Your videos have the perfect balance between information and entertainment. Thank you from Germany - and please: Europe needs REI, tell them please ;-)
Compared to the other outdoor influencer channels, this channel is so chill and easygoing. Its a relaxing respite from over-glorified "here are my vacation photos" content, "boo hoo I hate this 700 tent", or snowpeak gear schills
Thank you, Miranda and Rainer and Abby (and ALL the gang) for another GREAT video! You never fail to make me smile and laugh, and you warm my heart. I always learn something valuable and I love the beautiful outdoor footage you shoot. I would LOVE to meet you on trail, one day. Thanks again for all you do to make this life so much better! Much love and gratitude to all of you at, Miranda Goes Outside! You are the best!!!!! With much love, Russ
Finding your videos has given me courage to go out on a long solo road trip/car camp trip. I'm not a backcountry babe, but I never could have imagined the trip I'm about to take. So Thanks
Love your videos! Re plant based diet- I eat plant based 90% of the time- for health reasons. Sometimes I crave cheese or eggs or a hamburger! Got to listen to the body.
Ooo great question!! YES. We do "dummy checks" now, walking the whole campsite to make sure we haven't lost anything, but I once left a bandana draped across a log. The worst part? This was pre-Kula Cloth, and that was my pee rag ☠️ unfortunately I didn't realize I'd left it there until I was home and unpacking my bag days later.
@@MirandaGoesOutside the dummy check is a great idea! Sorry that you lost your bandana, 1 piece in so many trips is not that much, the dummy check works!
I enjoy your videos so much. I really appreciate your honesty about the hard stuff about backpacking. Last week my husband and I went out and of course the trail was harder and longer than the description lead us to believe, but I kept remembering you and the way you handle the tough stuff. Yes, it may not be fun when you are going through it, but afterwards you think “that was sooooo fun.”
6:04 We say "nether region". 7:50 regarding diet, there are many reasons I would ideally love to be vegetarian, but I have tried and every time it makes me feel extremely depressed. I have tried to do some limitations on the amount of meat, especially red meat, and that seems to be a better way for me to try to move in that direction. 13:20 These are known as "minced oaths".
I so look forward to Sunday mornings to get your latest videos. It’s like hearing from a favorite cousin and catching up on her life. This one is going to be a favorite! I wish it would have been longer - I could listen to you answering questions like this for HOURS! See you next week!
See you next week!!! Thank you so much for being here ❤️ maybe I'll have to do another one and answer some more questions!! I love the idea of being a favorite cousin 🥳
Your channel popped up on my feed. Glad to see you are not another Stoic, pensive hiker...glad to see another hiking channel out there having fun and laughing. Keep up the good work...and hike on!
I'm taking my first multinight backpacking trip in 10 years this July. As someone who has "been out of the game" for so long, your content has been incredibly helpful for me. If I'm hiking in the Alpine Lakes this summer, I usually try to fit a day hike to Stewart Lake in each year, it would be awesome to meet you on trail. Keep treking!
Just ordered some of the nature buff soap pads. That and the bidet you recommended are going to make my August AT section hike down right refreshing. LOL. Thanks for the recommendations.
So I never like videos(as in the thumbs up), but just your personality and like being queer and being who you are and not care what others think and that you’re so busy with mental health (like half a year ago the video of stopping winter camping because of anxiety, and in this video the first question about being scared while solo camping), and that you are just yourself… for me the only way to express that, my appreciations for you and who you are and your videos and how much I love them, is by liking your videos (I’m already subscribed)
I appreciate your sponsorships because I learn so much more about products/options/etc. It expands my possibility to consider and add to my list of aomething to work toward.
Never ever change!! You’re the perfect amount of goofy, silly, backpacking savvy, funny and you’re great at taking each and everyone of us on your adventures in a welcoming way. I can’t conceive of a world where someone would write a negative comment about you. Rainer on the other hand…. I only joke 😁.
Last week on a road trip with my son I was telling him about how many things I have learned from watching your channel, and I just wanted to say thank you!! Hiking etiquette, how to pack a pack, how to store food, leave no trace(don’t toss out those banana peels!) I have learned a lot and laughed a lot too. Keep on making great videos!
I recently found your content and have been watching your videos. First, you are amazing and inspirational. Your video with your friend Pam inspired me to get back outside and enjoy the world. I am not in the best of shape, and have bad knees, but I went on my second hike today. I pushed myself as hard as I could stand while remaining within my limits. I live in south Texas and took a hike to Enchanted Rock State Park. I know you would enjoy it. It was a pleasant walk; all be it uphill.
I am so proud of you for pushing yourself while still listening to your body!! That’s a really important skill. I’m so happy you are here, and I think you’ll be very happy to hear that my amazing friend Pam is joining me in another video again soon!! Thank you for sharing this, and I’ll have to check out Enchanted Rock!! 💚
I was just in Leavenworth last week. I camped out at ida campground and did the icicle gorge trail! Absolutely beautiful I’m born and raised in WA and I’ve never been there before. The town was ok but the scenery was EPIC!! When I left I drove 405 thru the Wenatchee forest and it’s my new fave. I can’t wait to go back and can some more! Aren’t we the lucky ones to live in such a beautiful diverse state ❤️❤️❤️ also I love LMNT!! I’ve realized how dehydrated I’ve been and wow it makes a huge difference and I drink mine all the time not just on trail. Eastern wa gets HOT as satans ball sack and I sweat constantly 😂😂😂
Ok yay for the quality of this video ! The images are so much better than the one where yall 3 went out camping recently. For me that video was like hazy idk it wasn’t the crispy nature natural images… like this one!! Yay
Dude I’ve fallen in love with you and this channel, I tell my wife about us lol😂 She actually got me the Nemo resolve 25l, (per your recommendation) for Father’s Day! I can’t wait to try it out!
I have an allergic reaction to dairy which also manifests as a migraine. I haven’t eaten dairy in over 10 years (I don’t miss it) I also tried plant based (vegetarian for a couple years, then vegan) it is not optimal for me, so now I eat just about everything besides dairy. I’m 53 and hike/backpack and recently got into canyoneering. I feel so great!!
I rarely read TH-cam video comments but I reviewed them today figuring a vegan/vegetarian may negatively comment on your choice. Happy to see I couldn’t find any. I know other creators talk about the comments and some are bothered by them.
I am so happy I found your channel. You have inspired me to do more hiking and camping. Was already big into camping but rarely more than a mile hike to my camp sites. Now I am planning my first section hike of the Appalachian trail early next year!
Great episode, your videos help and encourage people to get outside and not fear backpacking as it can be very challenging. I have been backpacking for over 30 years and you have given such valuable and informative content for new backpackers, while keeping lighthearted and very entertaining. Well done. "This is my comment, gosh darn."🤗
I've been enjoying your contribution to the backpacking/camping space for a few years now and I'm really glad to have found your videos. I owe you for my willingness to try a backcountry bidet and honestly- thank goodness for that!! Loved this video!! Wouldn't mind more of these, and maybe some questions for your incredible team too!
im glad you take sponsors so you can continue to make great content for us. Never feel bad for taking sponsors. I dont understand why people freak out about sponsors.
Am I the only one blown away by this campsite?! like my god perfect rock for the stove with a log beside it AND flat land for the tent with an epic view?! what?! I need to go out west lol, Also love your comment and the rest of this video lol
Miranda, I started using LMNT from your recommendation. It is incredible! I use it mostly when I'm outdoors, hiking, hunting, backpacking etc. I also have a medical condition that causes my body to consume more potassium than most people so on days where I feel the effect of that I'll throw an LMNT packet in my nalgene instead of taking a supplement.
I have a feeling if we hiked together we might have too much fun goofing off and never get anywhere. When I hike I am always thinking of crazy things that would make a good video. I will give you one short one: All the various ways of going around over and under trees across trails. Of course each method would need a cool name ie: limbo, army crawl, cowboy etc. You get the idea. I don’t have a good videographer so go for it. Add a few stream crossings for extra credit. One of my least favorites was my leap slip to a rock and fall on butt. Hope I do see you sometime on trail. Happy hiking!
Super cool video. I’ve been scared of the dark since I was 3, I’m 60 now. For my 1st solo overnight I went to great lengths to make sure I would not have to leave my tent in the dark. Fast forward and all of those pee-in-my-tent contraptions are now gathering dust, I still make sure I have a podcast or audiobook so my mind doesn’t wander where it shouldn’t. Also, I have sensitive skin and most wipes irritate me. I’ve found that simple witch hazel wipes, if needing wipes, work great on any and all body regions.
I would love to meet you on trail, but I don't live in your area. 😢 You are such a pleasure to watch. Always excited to see you have a new video uploaded.
If you have the ability to tell this to LMNT.... I'd really like an option to just buy that 8 flavor sample pack at a discount rather than have to buy an entire pack of one flavor to get it free. Isn't the point to try them all to find your favorite, then you can buy that favorite? It seems like they're doing it backwards.
Then get a variety pack then use the promo, I did it. Btw you can make at least 4 drinks from one package at 16 oz each. They are strong and go a long way.
You can email them and ask, they often will send it out as a free sample to get you to buy more. I have POTS and a lot of those in the POTS community have said they reached out to LMNT and they sent them free samples! I love citrus salt and salted caramel chocolate (i have that one hot). If you find it too salty just use either half the package and get an acquired taste for it. I don't find it that salty at all anymore.
Definitely thought the "this is my show gosh darn" was the differentiator between you working under the rei brand vs. not - loved the insights and correction on my assumption!
With your help, hopefully I'll finally get the guts / figure out how to solo backpack! I think I've wasted a lot of time being angry at myself for getting spooked rather than just trying to figure out what works for me. But I'm getting really tired of 20mi hiking days and not getting to explore that extra bit I want to just because I'm not comfortable staying out there overnight.
these are great videos that help people better understand you and your channel and your goals i would love more of these when more questions start coming up.
Thank you so much for your videos, you guys are doing an amazing job! You are one of the biggest inspirations I got into hiking more :) Since I'm probably not gonna run into you on trail, I'm sending you a giant 👋HELLO👋 from Germany 😁
I was just out in Algonquin PP for a few days adventure, (during this f#@%ing heatwave!) and one thunderbox had a growing hole right at the front of it that was becoming alarmingly dangerous 😳 imagine falling into a thunderbox hole! 🤢
@Hopebay74 I did! We stopped at the west gate visitor centre and reported it, they said they would send someone out asap. I also turned in a set of needle nose pliers, a fish fillet knife, and a battery-operated lantern that other campers had left behind at 2 separate sites. 😝
Hahaha didn't even need to edit in any rays of sun when you came across the glorious pit toilet, because they were there naturally! It was like fate and the universe (and the chili coffee) was calling you to the toilet throne. Nature is so cool! 💚🌎 Another wonderful, thoughtful and insightful video in a beautiful location. Thank you 💚 and thank you for your unwavering honesty and authenticity. It's so appreciated 😊
First time seeing your channel & it was very fun & enlightening. Also totally love the multicolored Hoodie you got going on. Where can I get one for my lovely lady? It's great. Lol
We’ve been following your videos for a while now and love how u keep it so real and fun , very entertaining 💕 keep up the great work and come hike with us here in Australia some time , xx
I ordered some LMNT before my last backpacking trip, which was also the first backpacking trip I've done in years! I ordered mostly because of your channel. I did a taste test before I left and I wasn't a fan, I put too much LMNT in too little water. I took some on my trip anyway and I was so glad I did because the watermelon salt was a life saver. I didn't know how much it would help, but it did. I'm a convert now.

Update: Miranda traded me to some aliens in exchange for the world.
Worth it. Would do again.
Which world though? Ours or theirs? 🙂
That bye at the end did sound ominous
Wahoo! Thanks for taking one for the team, Rainer. At least you still get to comment on TH-cam 😂

My whole hoo ha cleaning game got a big upgrade with the invention of bottle top bidets. Highly recommend.
It needs a little practice before you go out on the trail to hit the bulls eye.
On top of the personalities, the editing and sfx keep me coming back. Shout out to the editing! ❤

Whoa! Canyoneering sounds very adventurous! 😮
Good morning, Miranda and Rainer!
I rarely read TH-cam video comments but I reviewed them today figuring a vegan/vegetarian may negatively comment on your choice. Happy to see I couldn’t find any. I know other creators talk about the comments and some are bothered by them.
Miranda you are the best!
I am so happy I found your channel. You have inspired me to do more hiking and camping. Was already big into camping but rarely more than a mile hike to my camp sites. Now I am planning my first section hike of the Appalachian trail early next year!
I really appreciate sensible calm easy to understand explanations, thank you!
Bring back Pam!! I miss Pam so much! I would love to see you guys go on another trip and see how she’s doing!
!!!!! me too!! Which is why she's coming to visit and film with us in two weeks! 🤫
I like the bath wipes. It makes me feel clean and refreshed after a sweaty hike 😅
Am I the only one blown away by this campsite?! like my god perfect rock for the stove with a log beside it AND flat land for the tent with an epic view?! what?! I need to go out west lol, Also love your comment and the rest of this video lol
You and Rainer make a great team! And Abbie too! 💜🥳
It’s always a good day when Miranda shows up. It’s a good day gosh darn. ❤
Love Miranda, love Rainer, love the friendship. Wish i lived in Washington State so I could go backpacking with you guys.
That’s nice he’s coming to see you.
I agree! That’s the only reason I haven’t tried it yet.
They used to offer that, a couple of years ago, no idea why they don't anymore
That chipmunk "whee!" edit made my day.
Thank you so much for your videos, you guys are doing an amazing job! You are one of the biggest inspirations I got into hiking more :) Since I'm probably not gonna run into you on trail, I'm sending you a giant 👋HELLO👋 from Germany 😁
Thank you for being you. I think your funny and explain things in a way I can identify with.
Love your videos, have learned a ton and laughed a lot. Going on my first overnight backpacking trip soon and hoping there will be many more .
We call them Thunder Boxes in Canada. It’s the best when you find one in the backcountry on a canoe trip :) 🚽
I was just out in Algonquin PP for a few days adventure, (during this f#@%ing heatwave!) and one thunderbox had a growing hole right at the front of it that was becoming alarmingly dangerous 😳 imagine falling into a thunderbox hole! 🤢
@@musingwithreba9667 You should let the rangers know. The friends of Algonquin park charity will replace it.
@Hopebay74 I did! We stopped at the west gate visitor centre and reported it, they said they would send someone out asap. I also turned in a set of needle nose pliers, a fish fillet knife, and a battery-operated lantern that other campers had left behind at 2 separate sites. 😝
@@musingwithreba9667 Nice, what a haul! Also, thank you for reporting - no one likes a dangerous thunder box lol.
@Hopebay74 noooo! Some of them are scary enough without also having the potential to take your foot off! 🤣
Hahaha didn't even need to edit in any rays of sun when you came across the glorious pit toilet, because they were there naturally! It was like fate and the universe (and the chili coffee) was calling you to the toilet throne. Nature is so cool! 💚🌎
Another wonderful, thoughtful and insightful video in a beautiful location. Thank you 💚 and thank you for your unwavering honesty and authenticity. It's so appreciated 😊
Nature buff soap is soo good! I use it too!
I am over here all excited to see the trusty Flash55 in action, once more
Yay, new video! I was scrolling through TH-cam and couldn't find anything to watch - and then this popped up! 🤩
Woo perfect!! Yay! Thanks for being here 🤗
First time seeing your channel & it was very fun & enlightening. Also totally love the multicolored Hoodie you got going on. Where can I get one for my lovely lady? It's great. Lol
We’ve been following your videos for a while now and love how u keep it so real and fun , very entertaining 💕 keep up the great work and come hike with us here in Australia some time , xx
Thanks for another informative and entertaining video. Love your enthusiasm!
What a gorgeous camp spot! Thanks for bringing us along!
I absolutely love your videos! Thank you so much for being you and sharing :)
Such a beautiful scenery my friend 👏👏
Loving the red braid tips!
Woo thank you!!!
YES!! Getting the water-to-salt ratio right is key. I'm so glad it worked for you!! Welcome to the club 😈
Sweet video. You guys are what is right about the world ❤
