- In this video, I take my first solo backpacking adventure since moving from Colorado to California! I spend two days, one night camping in a beautiful snow-covered scene. I show you how I managed to stay warm without a fire in near freezing temperatures. Enjoy!

Not wanting to just jump out of my sleeping bag in the morning is why I so luv solo backpacking, coffee and breakfast at my own pace w/no worries.

Love your videos, love your enthusiasm! The best part of waking up is coffee in your cup 😊. Definitely start to use hiking poles they make your steps more deliberate and save on the joints. Dawn Patrol instant coffee from First Ascent coffee in Crested Butte Colorado is pretty decent instant coffee, it’s been to the international space station.

Really like your vibe and very much appreciate you acknowledging the not-entirely-real morning wake up shot. No judgement here, because when I'm camping in the cold I tend to "wake up" several times before I actually make it out of bed. If I have the time (and I usually have the time), I tend to stay in until I get some sun hitting the tent to warm it up.

That was a good little adventure. I enjoy going with you on these. (I can't actually go because of an injury that partially disabled me). One thing I really like was the lack of any music. I love music, but sometimes a video is just better without it. There was some incredible views in this hike. (Well, the views are always beautiful in your videos.) Stay safe out there.

These are helpful.. I'm not doing great and my best memories were hiking the AT as a kid when I lived on the east coast. I love to plan trips and buy gear and watch these videos it makes me happy. I can't leave my house often so this is what I've got. It's just nice to see you and anyone really enjoying this and getting it done. No one can explain why hiking is so fun. I love and miss the tree-tunnel haha.

Love the video Cheebs! So informative and you always find a way to show the true beauty of your surroundings! Your video gave me the chills because of the oatmeal you ate for breakfast! (Haha!) My dad passed away a few months ago and he and I loved nature hikes so much. So, while I'm not much of a camper, I have been going on a nature hike at least once a week, since he passed, in his honor. When we would go fishing or hiking, we would always bring a thermos of oatmeal and a thermos of hot apple cider or tea to warm ourselves during the chilly spring or fall hikes. Now I still bring the oatmeal with me on my solo hikes and think about him, shed a few tears and talk to him. It's so cathartic. But I bet you know that feeling of reflection and healing that hikes/camping gives you. It's like a feeling of recharging and grounding that we all need from time to time. So thanks for the video, Cheebs. Keep em coming. I enjoy them immensely. -Norbie

I never get hungry when I push myself hiking, which makes no sense. But what I like to do is eat something with carbs an hour before bed time cause it causes my body to heat up during the night to keep me warm. Sometimes I have half a snickers bar and that makes me feel 50% warmer until about 4-5am. Crazy but it works! I can tell you're new to vlogging, and it's a good thing. The other ones are so polished that it comes up phony. Keep hiking, keep having fun, and don't worry about YT. Film what you want when you want.

Great video! Love the Nalgene-in-the-sleeping bag trick; so cozy, and it's amazing when you wake up and it's still warm! I have the same Jet-boil, also with a non-functioning ignitor! I think that can be fixed/replaced, and you reminded me I should get that done (or not), and get ready for some winter camping. Thanks for sharing!
