      it was around 100-110 when I started flat-5%. I can usually hold 130s on the HR at about 10% and 5mph. At 20-30% it takes about 30-60 seconds, but I think by then I'm well into the 140s-150. At 35% for sure I would hit over 150 probably about after 60 seconds and I don't think I could sustain it for very long. But the HR values all depend on duration. In my uptempo last week I leveled out at about 4.8-5.0mph and 150bpm (about 83% max for me) for 35-min all at once...but that was only at 17% grade average. Granted I'm also at 7000' (2133m) elevation here.

    I just used your video as a reference to see how 5 mph speed is looks like. I literally googled how running out of 5 mph speed looking like. So I definitely jog slower, at least if I try to run an entire hour. Thank you.

      Or just run faster?

    • @therebel4332
      @therebel4332 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      But you cant run faster on an incline, running up hills in a longer distance needs to be lot steadier so you dont injure your stomach muscles ie top or bottom muscles. Remember even breathing heavier can put strain on the stomach muscles. You pick up the speed in the flat,, and if running down hills you need to learn good technique so as to not injure your knees and calf muscles especially.

    There's a Zwift workout called "Higher and Higher" which takes you up through inclines and while it starts at 2% and running fast, every 8 minutes it increases the incline by 2% and slows down the pace. But it was insane and well worth trying.

  • @borrt
    @borrt ปีที่แล้ว

    For anyone else wondering, 30% incline equates to 1584 feet of gain over a mile. So at 5mph, that's nearly 8000 ft/hr of gain (assuming he could maintain that pace)!!

  • @RunJVHRun
    @RunJVHRun 2 ปีที่แล้ว

  • @ansizfark

    I have a x3i, it's a super old Nordictrack but I can get up to 40% incline on it. It is hard to describe how ridiculous it is even at a super slow pace. The belt is slick enough it is basically impossible to stay on it without slipping off the back unless you use the hand grips!

    • @Vo2maxProductions
      @Vo2maxProductions  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      yeah I'm still looking at a way to maybe practice power hiking form with trekking poles (And not hurting the belt). I'd imagine people can certainly make things a lot easier by gripping those hand bars (I do sometimes right after finishing a hard interval) so I don't fall off! Anything over 30% is pretty insane...but a lot of trail-mountain races I do have extended sections of trail at 20-25% grade..so awesome training for that!

    • @barulicksama3838
      @barulicksama3838 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      40%? WOW! I wonder if is there even more ridiculous things exist like 60% or so on? Maybe there are treadmills for climbers huh?

Run like 4.3 mph outdoors... :/ in Philly and PA there are a lot of hills though so, yeah I'm out of luck if I wanna look fast based on my stats, at least i'm getting a good workout in though!
